Leaving White Pete and His Daughter Behind
Lin Siyu began to take White Lily's pulse. White Lily trembled, but as if she knew these people wouldn't harm her, she forced herself to sit still despite her discomfort.
After a while, Lin Siyu released her hand, his expression turning grave.
White Pete was extremely anxious and asked, 'Young Master Siyu, is my daughter's illness serious? Can she be cured?'
Lin Siyu glanced at White Pete and asked, 'Are you her father?'
White Pete nodded.
Lin Siyu clicked his tongue, 'How could a father let his daughter end up like this?'
Guilt flooded White Pete's face. He said, 'It's my fault. I couldn't protect Ling'er... I let her mother down.'
Lin Siyu shook his head, thinking to himself that apologies were useless now. The girl was badly hurt.
Su Li quickly explained for White Pete, 'Young Master Siyu, it's like this. Mr. White was separated from his wife and daughter years ago and only just found his daughter. White Lily's injuries are from her time at the Red Blossom Pavilion, where she refused to give in and was abused by the people there.'
Lin Siyu responded, 'Oh, then I blamed Mr. White wrongly. No wonder those people were so cruel.'
White Pete was so nervous his heart nearly leapt out of his chest. "Can she be cured?" he asked anxiously.
Lin Siyu snorted, sounding quite proud: "Don't underestimate me."
Hearing Lin Siyu's words, everyone knew White Lily could be healed!
White Pete was overjoyed and thanked Lin Siyu repeatedly.
Lin Siyu said, "Don't thank me yet. Your daughter's injuries are very complicated and will require a long time to heal. The treatment must not be interrupted, or all our efforts will be wasted."
Su Li said, "In that case, Mr. White, you and Ling'er should stay at the Prince of Qin's Manor so Lin Siyu can treat her easily."
White Pete was so moved he was speechless. As a wandering craftsman, he never expected Princess Consort Lily would go to such lengths to help him.
So it was settled that White Pete and White Lily would stay at the Prince of Qin's Manor to recover. Su Li had the maidservants prepare a courtyard for them and assigned two maids to look after White Lily.
After all, White Lily was almost like an invalid, unable to care for herself, and she was terrified of men. She still didn’t realize White Pete was her father.
White Pete was a grown man, and caring for a teenage girl who couldn’t care for herself was inconvenient. This made Su Li’s thoughtful arrangements even more apparent.
Xenia, the matchmaker, praised, "Princess Lily Hayes really is kind and generous. No wonder everyone in the manor respects her!"
Lily Evans smiled and replied, "Xenia, thank you for your help today. I have a little something for you."
Xenia was surprised, "Princess Lily, you’re too polite! I’m just doing my job."
Lily Evans smiled, "It’s not much, just some fresh eggs and wild honey from our farm. I hope you’ll accept it."
Xenia was delighted, "Thank you, Princess Lily! You’re always so thoughtful."
Lily Evans laughed, "If you ever need anything, just let me know. We’re all family here."
Xenia nodded, her eyes sparkling with gratitude.
