Cutie Pie Is Seriously Injured
Just as she was thinking about marriage, Lily called to her from outside, "Miss Lawrence!"
Grace walked out and saw that she had brewed a pot of tea.
Back then, there were four maidservants by Evan Xiao's side, but now only Lily remains.
"Lily." Grace smiled. "We haven't seen each other for a while, you seem to have grown taller!"
"Haha, Miss Lawrence, you've grown taller too!" Lily grinned brightly. "Miss Lawrence, if you don't mind my tea, come have a cup!"
"Alright." Grace walked over and said, "Lily, come sit with me, let's chat!"
"I wouldn't dare," Lily quickly waved her hands, looking a bit flustered.
"No need to be so formal, let's just be like before!" Grace pulled her to sit down.
Lily was a lively girl, never one to put on airs. She plopped down happily, and as the two chatted, there was a closeness no other maid could match.
"Why are there still some of my old things in the Cozy Nook? Take them all away!" Grace said.
"Miss Lawrence, the General doesn't let anyone enter the Cozy Nook now!" Lily said.
"Oh? Really?" Grace asked in surprise. "You don't have to do night duty anymore?"
Lily shook her head. "Ever since you left, the General stopped having maids do night duty. Honestly, we did night duty so many times, but he never called for us once. So it's fine not to do it."
"Honestly, we did night duty so many times, but he never called for us once. So it's fine not to do it," Grace said with a smile.
"Exactly! At first, the General didn't even want maids doing night duty. But Butler Qin said all the young masters from other noble families do it, and if he didn't, people would talk. The General just shrugged and agreed." Lily said.
Grace smiled, "Every time I've come lately, I only see you. Haven't any other maids come into the Frostmoon Quarters?"
Lily shook her head. "The General said that once you marry in, you'll be the one to arrange everything."
Grace smiled and took a sip of tea.
...
With Lily keeping her company, chatting away, the time didn't feel hard to pass at all.
By afternoon, a group of people suddenly burst in, all flustered and in a hurry.
Hearing the commotion, Grace walked outside and saw Quentin Chin and Sophie Shang supporting the Imperial Advisor, Leon Zane, as they entered.
All three looked like they'd just come from a battlefield—covered in blood, hair soaked, clothes scorched by fire.
Then came Louis Lin, holding a blood-soaked Cutie Pie. As he walked in, he shouted to the guards, "Go get Grace now! Tell her to bring medicine for internal injuries! Now! Immediately! No matter what she's doing, drag her here if you have to!"
Just as he finished shouting, he saw Grace.
"Miss Lawrence! You're here! Thank goodness!" Louis Lin rushed over. "Cutie Pie is badly hurt, please take a look!"
Grace's heart skipped a beat. She hurriedly asked Louis Lin to carefully place Cutie Pie on the tea table.
It looked awful.
Its body was covered in burns and dozens of wounds. The fluff on its head was gone, its beautiful tail singed, and its mouth kept bleeding. Who knew how such a small creature could bleed so much?
Grace's eyes filled with tears. Without saying a word, she quickly found some hemostatic medicine and stopped the bleeding.
Then, she took out a potent healing pill for internal injuries and fed it to Cutie Pie. The bleeding in its mouth gradually stopped.
"Who hurt my Antler Serpent like this?" Grace finally asked, her voice full of murderous intent.
