Exposed on the Spot

"Ah, you little brat!" Lingdang rolled up her sleeves and gave Zhang Zhaocai a good beating. Zhang Zhaocai crouched on the ground holding his head, his head, shoulders, and arms numb from Lingdang's hits, but he felt strangely happy inside and stubbornly said, "I'll tell, I'll tell, just kill me if you can, but if you can't, I'll still tell!"

Lingdang kicked him a few more times, sending Zhang Zhaocai sprawling onto the ground with a thud.

"You, you little devil, you're driving me crazy!" Lingdang was fuming, hands on her hips and glaring. She didn't expect this brat to be immune to threats and beatings.

Zhang Zhaocai sat on the ground, watching Lingdang glare with flushed cheeks, thinking she was the cutest girl in the world.

Inside the house, Tang Shi rushed out and saw her son sitting on the ground after being beaten by a little girl. She shouted, "Lingdang, you little troublemaker, how dare you hit my son! I'll fight you!"

Tang Shi shouted and charged forward, ready to fight Lingdang.

Lingdang gritted her teeth, holding back the urge to give Tang Shi a good thrashing. She thought, since she can't cause a death, should she teach this shrew a lesson or two?

But before Lingdang could act, Tang Shi, charging like a cannonball, suddenly "landed" with a thud, falling flat on her face. It was because Zhang Zhaocai suddenly grabbed Tang Shi's ankle, tripping her.

Tang Shi fell hard, lying on the ground wailing in pain, unable to get up for a long time.

Zhang Zhaocai ignored Tang Shi and looked at Lingdang, "If my mom wants to beat you, you better run."

Lingdang tilted her head, crossed her arms, and looked at Zhang Zhaocai and the wailing Tang Shi. Judging by Tang Shi's solid fall, she was probably fractured.

"Someone, help! Help! Someone's hurt! Lingdang, that troublesome girl, pushed me down!" Tang Shi lay on the ground and started screaming, attracting early-rising villagers who came to buy groceries to gather and watch.

Seeing the crowd, Tang Shi lay on the ground and pointed at Lingdang, saying, "This young girl is so heartless, she just pushed me down for no reason. Look at how badly I fell. I'm probably bedridden for many days! My family depends on me to work and support them. If I can't work, who will earn money? Lingdang, why are you so cruel? Don't you have a conscience?"

Lingdang was dumbfounded. This was clearly Zhang Zhaocai who had tripped Tang Shi, so how did it become her fault?

"Tang Shi, why are you talking nonsense and falsely accusing me? I never pushed you or even touched you. It was clearly your son who grabbed your leg and made you fall. Why blame me?" Lingdang was speechless dealing with the rural woman's accusations.

Tang Shi shouted at the top of her lungs, "Hey neighbors, listen up! That nasty woman is full of lies. How could my son trip me? It was Lingdang who pushed me down, and she won’t admit it!"

The villagers started gossiping loudly. Based on Tang Shi’s usual character, they didn’t believe her. But Lingdang claiming that Zhang Zhaocai tripped Tang Shi also didn’t convince them.

After all, Zhang Zhaocai was Tang Shi’s own son. Could a son really deliberately trip his own mother?

So, most of the villagers sided with Tang Shi, thinking this wasn’t a case of Tang Shi faking injury but that Lingdang had pushed her down. However, the lies were full of holes and were exposed on the spot.
