The Difficult Act of Kneeling

12/2/2025

As Gregory Gu Jr. was still reeling in disbelief, Princess May's sharp voice suddenly pierced the air: "Impossible! You're lying! How could Chuland and the House Zhao just disappear? You're lying, Princess Jade Hayes, you must have snuck into Chuland in secret!"

Princess Jade Hayes turned to look at Princess May, her eyes utterly cold. She would never forget what Princess May had done.

Princess May had dared to go after Princess Jade Hayes's unborn child—absolutely unforgivable!

Princess Jade Hayes's voice grew icy. She stared at Princess May with disdain and scoffed, "Not only is Chuland gone, Jinburg is gone too! Out there, only the Kingdom of Qin remains—my great Qin rules the world now! As for your House Zhao, tsk, Princess May, you are the last of your royal line. Your parents, your kin, your brothers and sisters—they're all buried beneath the earth!"

"My family... all dead? No, that's impossible, you're spouting nonsense! I don't believe you!" Princess May screamed, her eyes wild with terror as she glared at Princess Jade Hayes. "I don't believe a word you say! No matter how strong Qin is, it couldn't possibly wipe out Jinburg and Chuland in just a few years!"

Gregory Gu Jr. actually agreed with Princess May on this point.

With the strength of the Kingdom of Qin, conquering Jinburg and Chuland at the same time should have left Qin severely weakened.

Such a silent annihilation of two nations—Gregory Gu Jr. simply couldn't believe it was possible.

So Gregory Gu Jr. also looked at Princess Jade Hayes and Alexander Hayes with doubt and disbelief.

But Princess Jade Hayes and Alexander Hayes were utterly unfazed by their skepticism, as if Gregory and Princess May were nothing but ants—their doubts simply didn't matter at all.

Princess May trembled uncontrollably, her arms wrapped around her son as he was suddenly wracked by violent coughs, his face pale as paper.

The sound of her son's distress snapped Princess May back to her senses, pulling her out of her frenzy and restoring her reason.

Only then did she remember—she needed to beg the Lin Family of Healers to save her son.

And Princess Jade Hayes was the Lin Family's eldest daughter!

"Mother... it hurts..." Her son coughed so hard he could barely breathe. Princess May's heart twisted painfully. In a panic, she patted his back and looked up at Princess Jade Hayes.

Princess Jade Hayes watched the mother and son, her brows furrowing slightly, deep in thought.

Princess May clenched her fists, torn by a fierce internal struggle: Was she really going to beg Princess Jade Hayes to ask the Lin Family of Healers to save her son?

No—Princess May had always been proud and dignified. She would never beg anyone, especially not Princess Jade Hayes!

She was a noble princess of Chuland—how could she possibly lower herself to plead with a peasant girl like Princess Jade Hayes!?

Absolutely impossible!

Princess May bit her lip, a cold hardness flashing in her eyes. But in the next instant, her son's coughing grew even worse, and with a splatter, he coughed up blood.

Panic overtook Princess May as she hurriedly wiped the blood from her son's lips with a handkerchief.

At that moment, Lord Channing Shaw, standing behind Princess Jade Hayes and Lord Zephyr Shaw, stared intently at the mother and son. He seemed about to speak, but pressed his lips together and said nothing.

Princess May's son coughed for a long while before finally stopping, his body even weaker than before.

Princess May was drenched in sweat from her frantic efforts. Looking at her increasingly fragile son, her heart felt as if it were being sliced apart.

Royal pride... a woman's stubborn dignity!?

Was her only son not worth more than all that!?

Princess May looked up at Princess Jade Hayes, clutching her son tightly as she struggled to kneel before her...
