Terrifying! Utterly terrifying! A Fourth-Layer Venerable Martial expert was slaughtered in a single move—none of them saw it coming. Right now, in every heart, this woman is even more terrifying than Evan Chu.
Lillian Zane's face was pale—even she needed to unleash her strongest move to make everyone submit. Frozen Thousand Miles was one of her most devastating techniques, but it burned through her energy at a frightening rate.
Sweeping her gaze over the shaken crowd, Lillian Zane laughed coldly: "Anyone still unconvinced, come at me! If you want my head, step forward—today I'll show you exactly whether I'm worthy to be Human King!"
Her voice rang in everyone's ears. One by one, the crowd stared at the ground, not daring to breathe. The icy aura covering the earth melted away as swiftly as it had come, vanishing in just a few seconds.
The Fourth-Layer Venerable's corpse was exposed—a breeze swept by, and his body shattered, scattering gruesomely across the ground. The sight was so brutal it made everyone flinch. In that instant, not a soul dared question Lillian Zane's power; respect for her dominance welled up unbidden.
Slowly, the crowd descended from the sky. A middle-aged man stepped forward, bowing respectfully to Lillian Zane: "Your strength truly qualifies you to be Human King. But if you take the throne, how will you treat people like us?"
"Good! Excellent question! As long as you submit to me, I will do everything in my power to protect you all. Whatever you did before, keep doing it now. If you run into trouble, come to me—I'll give you my all. I will make the Human Clan powerful—never weaker than the Shades or Netherkin!" Lillian Zane declared.
The crowd began whispering, weighing her words. Lillian Zane was deeply satisfied; she knew the Human King seat was all but hers—and she owed Evan Chu for making this possible.
After a moment, an elder stepped forward and said to Lillian Zane, "This old man, of the Dunn Family from the Human royal capital, is willing to submit to the Human King. I hope the Human King will look after my Dunn Family in the days to come!"
This elder was a Fourth-Layer Venerable Martial expert, one of their strongest. With even him submitting, the others naturally followed, one after another expressing their willingness to support Lillian Zane as Human King.
"I always keep my word. But if I discover anyone harboring second thoughts, your whole clan will be wiped out—don’t doubt my strength. Destroying you would be simple, but I hope that never happens. Let’s work together to strengthen the Human Clan. We may not rule the world, but at least no one will dare bully us," Lillian Zane said.
The only person who hadn’t spoken up was the elder whose son Lillian Zane had just killed. At this moment, he was torn—grief and anger for his son’s death, but Lillian Zane’s strength was simply overwhelming. He knew he was no match.
It wasn’t that he feared death; as the clan head, he knew that if he died, his family would be bullied or even slaughtered. But if he didn’t avenge his son, he’d lose face. For now, he was stuck in a dilemma.
Lillian Zane glanced at the elder and smiled, "Old man, didn’t you want to kill me? How about I give you a chance? I’ll stand here without moving—attack me once. If you fail to kill me, your whole family dies with you. What do you think?"
"Are you serious?" The elder stared straight at Lillian Zane, clearly tempted to try.
But he quickly lost his nerve. If he failed, his whole clan would be wiped out—he couldn’t bear that kind of guilt. He said, "As long as you spare my family, do as you wish with me! Against you, I admit I’m no match!"
"Good! You know how to weigh priorities—not a reckless man. Your son died for disrespecting me, the future Human King. Killing him wasn’t excessive. As for you, I’ll spare you today. Stay and serve in the Human royal capital. If you ever grow strong enough to defeat me, you’re welcome to challenge me," Lillian Zane said.
No one expected Lillian Zane to let him off so easily. Repaying resentment with virtue—her actions made everyone respect her even more.
After a moment’s hesitation, the elder said, "Thank you, Human King, for sparing my life. My son was reckless and offended the Human King—he deserved to die! For your kindness, I am deeply grateful. Whatever you command, I’ll go through fire and water for you!"
His attitude changed instantly, surprising the crowd. But they soon understood—he had to consider his clan. He still had other sons, daughters, grandchildren. He couldn’t risk them all for a moment’s anger. In fact, this was the wisest choice: those who understand the times are true heroes, and the Human King would surely value him.
"Excellent, you know how to read the times. Here’s what you’ll do: after Evan Chu kills the Poison King and his son, you’ll raid the Poison King’s mansion and use whatever you find to rebuild the City Lord’s Mansion. Once I sign a permanent non-aggression pact with the Shade Lord and Nether Monarch, I’ll be leaving for a while—you’ll oversee the City Lord’s Mansion in my absence."
When I return, you and your family will relocate to Shadowlin City, and I’ll grant you the position of City Lord there. Don’t let me down," Lillian Zane said.
The elder was overjoyed—he never expected that losing a son would earn him a City Lord’s seal. For a moment, he was stunned. "Human King, are you serious? Can I really become City Lord of Shadowlin City?"
"Of course. That’s my promise to you. As long as everyone sincerely follows me, your clans will prosper and grow stronger," Lillian Zane said.

With this, Lillian Zane had settled things here. One move was all it took to make everyone submit—a result even Evan Chu hadn’t dreamed of. Right now, Evan Chu was speaking with Tom Chu in midair.
"Tom, how do you plan to deal with those two—kill them outright or torture them first?" Evan Chu asked.
"Big Brother, it’s up to you. In this illusion realm, I’m king—no one can escape my control. Sounds like you want them tortured first, right? Then let me show you what I can do," Tom Chu said.
A light screen appeared before Evan Chu, showing the Poison King and Harold Hong’s current situation. The two were running desperately, like stray dogs—completely miserable.
"Big Brother, you can see their illusions on this screen. Let me scare them first—break their minds and spirits," Tom Chu said.
Suddenly, the Poison King appeared before Harold Hong, his face twisted with rage. "You wretch! You destroyed my entire plan and brought a powerful enemy like Evan Chu to the royal capital. What use is a useless son like you? Die!"
Harold Hong couldn’t understand why his father was attacking him so viciously. Just as he was about to ask, the Poison King struck with a fierce palm, whipping up a storm of yellow sand—the power was overwhelming.
In Harold Hong’s eyes, that palm was meant to kill him. He never imagined his father would really go so far. To save himself, he thrust his sword forward—but when the Poison King’s palm was just a meter away, it suddenly stopped, while Harold’s sword stabbed straight ahead.
"Harold, what are you doing?" the Poison King cried. Before the words faded, Harold's sword had already pierced his father's heart. Harold panicked, hurriedly pulled out the sword, and blood splattered all over his face.
"Harold, why did you kill your father? We're family!" the Poison King said, clutching his chest as blood soaked his clothes and dripped to the ground.
"Weren't you trying to kill me? How was I supposed to know you'd suddenly hold back? Dad, are you alright?" Harold Hong asked, flustered.
"I'm afraid it's over for me. Who would have thought, after all my years ruling the Netherworld, I'd die by my own son's hand? Is this retribution?" the Poison King said.
Harold Hong was wracked with guilt as the Poison King died, his body slowly fading away. Harold was stunned. "What's going on here?!"
Harold Hong was shocked—even Evan Chu was surprised. "Tom, why did you kill the Poison King so quickly? That sword shouldn't have been fatal, right?"
"Heh, Big Brother, this is an illusion—none of it's real. I can kill or revive anyone instantly. Want me to bring the Poison King back to life so he can kill his son again?" Tom Chu laughed.
"That's no fun. Harold must be feeling guilty enough. Why not hit him with something even harsher?" Evan Chu smiled, genuinely impressed by Tom Chu's illusion arts.
"Easy! Just watch!" Tom Chu said. Instantly, a white-haired woman appeared on the screen, glaring at Harold Hong. "Harold, you killed your father! You unfilial son, you've committed a grave sin!"
"Mom, no! I don't know what happened—Dad tried to kill me, I just defended myself, I never meant to hurt him! Please believe me!" Harold Hong pleaded.
"Enough! Your father and I endured humiliation all these years for the Human King’s throne, and now you've killed him. What's the point of living? Harold, take care of yourself!" the old woman said, a short sword appearing in her hand.
"Mom, what are you doing? Don't!" Harold Hong cried in alarm, rushing to snatch the sword from her hand.
