Everyone's eyes turned in the same direction.
A cold, stone-faced man in a black suit, his dark skin lending him an aura of icy toughness, strode forward. He wore sunglasses and gleaming leather shoes, each step leaving a faint mark on the ground.
Just a single glance at that man was enough to make people feel a chill of fear deep in their hearts.
"Brother Blade, what brings you here? Did Old Man Su have some instructions for us? Just tell me—anything I can do, I’ll do it for you!"
Seeing who had arrived, Neil Kong quickly plastered on a smile and hurried forward to greet him.
He knew this man’s codename was Blade. As Victor Su’s personal bodyguard, every time Victor appeared on TV for an interview, Blade was always right there beside him.
Previously, Neil Kong had tried all sorts of ways to get close to Victor Su by working through Blade, but Blade was the type who wouldn’t budge no matter what—like a stone in a pit, completely unmoved. Neil never got his wish.
Now, seeing Blade walk over, Neil’s smile was even warmer than if he’d seen his own father.
Getting on Blade’s good side meant a chance to get close to Victor Su. If he could do that, Neil figured it would give his business a huge boost. And just now, when he saw Victor Su’s granddaughter Molly Su, he started thinking—if he could get Ryan Chen and Molly Su together, and they hit it off, then Neil Kong would really have it made.
Neil was pretty confident in Ryan Chen—his son had grown up pampered, and his looks, height, and overall vibe weren’t bad at all.
Blade heard Neil Kong’s words and glanced at him. The look in his eyes, hidden behind those black sunglasses, was razor sharp—so sharp that Neil felt a chill run through his whole body.
"Old Man Su wants to see someone." Blade’s voice was deep and powerful, hitting everyone’s ears like a heavy hammer—full of force.
"Old Man Su has something to say? Just let me know! Should I go see him right now?" Neil Kong’s face lit up with joy as soon as he heard Blade’s words, excitement written all over him. His voice shot up several notches, afraid the people nearby might not hear.
"Old Man Su wants to see Class Monitor Kong!"
"Looks like Class Monitor Kong really hit the jackpot this time!"
"Victor Su—he’s someone on par with Sawyer Summer, no, maybe even more powerful!"
The people nearby heard this and all looked at Neil Kong with envy.
They all knew who Victor Su really was. And seeing Neil Kong so excited right now, they understood just how important this was.
Who knows, maybe this meeting could be the turning point that takes Neil Kong’s life to the next level.
"That’s right, Brother Blade—if Old Man Su ever needs anything from our Neil, just let him know!" Sharon Chen quickly chimed in with a smile.
Blade glanced at Neil Kong and shook his head. "Not you."
With those four words spoken—
Neil Kong’s face froze, growing awkward and stiff.
Sharon Chen’s expression also stalled, turning strange—her face went pale, then green, completely losing face.
Then Blade, without a second thought, brushed Neil Kong aside—so forcefully that Neil, caught off guard, nearly stumbled and fell.
But faced with Blade, Neil didn’t dare say a word.
For one thing, he knew he couldn’t beat Blade; for another, Neil Kong didn’t dare offend Victor Su, the man behind Blade.
If he ever became Victor Su’s enemy, Neil knew he wasn’t nearly important enough. He’d come up from the countryside, and after all these years, the only reason he’d made it this far—besides learning to swallow his pride—was marrying into the Chen family.
With the Chen family’s connections, he’d done well in Jinnan. But even the Chen family, with all its resources and influence, would crumble in an instant if they ever went head-to-head with Victor Su.
Blade brushed past Neil Kong and walked a few steps forward, his gaze sweeping across everyone’s faces.
Most of the people Blade looked at wore anxious expressions, but deep down, they were all hoping to be chosen—to be the one Blade would take to meet Old Man Su.
If they got this chance, they could brag about it for years at every dinner and drinking party. More than that, it could be the moment their lives changed—from nobodies to somebodies, from chickens to phoenixes, soaring up the ladder, with fancy cars, beautiful women, and luxury at their fingertips.
But Blade’s gaze didn’t linger on any of them for even a moment.
His face was as tough and cold as a weathered stone, giving off an air of chill and hardness.
No one else dared to even breathe.
Just as everyone was feeling anxious and curious, Blade’s gaze finally stopped.
He looked at the calm-faced teenager standing there, strode over, stopped in front of him, and spoke in a steady voice: "Old Man Su wants to see you."
Blade fixed his gaze on Evan Lin’s face.
Earlier, when he and Old Man Su and Molly Su were heading to Villa No. 3, Blade had glanced at the crowd but hadn’t noticed Evan Lin.
But when they entered the villa, from Blade’s angle, he happened to spot a familiar figure over here.
He hadn’t been sure at first—he was too far away. But once inside the villa, after hearing Old Man Su mention it, Blade came over to check if this was the same young man he’d seen at Three Thousand Mountain.
Now, with Blade up close, he saw Evan Lin’s face and was certain—this was the same teenager who, back at Three Thousand Mountain, had nearly crippled his arm with a single punch!
"Old Man Su wants to see him?" The others stared at Evan Lin in shock.
"No way, isn’t Old Man Su from Jinnan? How could he know Evan Lin?"
"Looks like Evan Lin really has a limitless future ahead!"
Everyone nearby looked at Evan Lin, their eyes full of envy.
"Who’d have thought Evan Lin could impress people outside of Seacrest Prefecture? Man, he’s really something." Yolanda Fang couldn’t help muttering, earning a glare from Lynn Chen.
"Him? Brother Blade, are you sure you’re not making a mistake? That kid’s just a poor student!" Sharon Chen stepped forward, looking at Blade and blurting out her protest.
"Yeah, he’s just a poor student. His family doesn’t even have a decent house. Did he trick Old Man Su out of money? Just like he tricked Chairman Summer into making a promise before!" Xiao Yun quickly chimed in.
In her eyes, that promise from Chairman Summer must have been something Evan Lin tricked him into!
Otherwise, how could Evan Lin possibly treat someone’s illness?
He’d probably just make things worse!
