Coco Shen's gaze was unfocused as she stared out the window.

Scenes from the past flashed before her eyes.

She remembered being a child, watching her parents fight—her father striking her mother so hard she fell to the ground.

All because her father was having an affair, and her mother demanded answers.

But in situations like this, what explanation could there be?

Her mother, the dutiful wife and loving mother, was always destined to lose.

For her own sake and for the family, her mother gave up her career and dreams to become a housewife.

But her sacrifice only encouraged that old man's ambitions, letting him chase after another woman and even father an illegitimate child.

As a daughter, she became an eyesore.

In the end, that man forced her mother to leave the family so his illegitimate son could have a proper status.

When her mother left, she asked for nothing, gave up her entire dowry, only requested a house, and then took her daughter away from that desolate home.

To raise her daughter, her mother returned to her old job, worked tirelessly, earned enough to pay for her schooling, and enrolled her in a prestigious private school.

Life gradually improved, but her mother fell ill.

It was cancer.

Stomach cancer.

By the time they found out, it was already late stage.

When she notified that man, he didn't even bother to come see her mother one last time.

This was his wife, the one he married!

Even at the end, he refused to see her.

Her mother, frail and ill, transferred the house to her daughter and set up a substantial trust fund and insurance. The yearly returns were enough to support her.

After all this was done, Mom passed away.

Even at her funeral, that man never showed up—not once.

Now that he’s lost everything, he suddenly remembers he has a daughter.

What a shame.

I'm not some pushover!

So what if he’s my biological father?

After all those years of pain and hardship he brought to Mom and me, even if I carry a bad reputation for the rest of my life, I won’t let him have it easy.

Does he still want that house under my name?

What is he thinking?

Even if I lose this job, I’ll never let him get his way!

Thinking about this, Coco Shen sat up straight.

She looked straight at the man across from her, her eyes bright: "So, have you made up your mind?"

Coco Shen calmly pushed the contract aside. "I’m giving up my agreement with Yin Enterprises."

"Do you know what you’re giving up?" the man asked.

"I know." Coco Shen replied evenly, "I haven’t had an easy life, and I won’t let him have one either. He can dream about getting even a penny of what my mom left behind!"

"You’re his daughter. You have a duty to support him," the man reminded her.

"Is that so? Fine, let him sue me then. Whatever the court says I owe, I’ll pay. But not a cent more!" Coco Shen’s eyes flashed, her voice hard. "Just because he’s my biological father, I can’t even avenge my mom. I can support him, but he’ll never get anything good from me. Even if the whole world looks down on me, I’ll stick to my guns! I, Coco Shen, will never forgive him!"

The man let out a long sigh. "Alright, I understand. Go back and wait for news."

The man got out of the car too.

Coco Shen slumped into her seat, and tears silently fell down her cheeks.
