The well looked perfectly ordinary, no different from any other dried-up well.
"Doesn't seem like there's anything special about it," Hannah Nangong said.
"Yeah, nothing stands out, but you can't judge things just by appearances. Let me take another look," Evan Yang said, examining the well and confirming it seemed normal.
Then he did something that left Hannah Nangong stunned: Evan Yang reached out and placed his hand directly on the well. Instantly, Hannah saw his hand turn black and purple.
"Aren't you afraid of dying?" Hannah Nangong exclaimed.
"I told you, I can detoxify myself. Poison doesn't trouble me," Evan Yang replied. With a wave of his hand, his skin returned to normal.
The sight was so miraculous that Hannah Nangong was left speechless. Evan Yang, meanwhile, frowned and said, "I didn't expect this poison to be completely colorless and tasteless. That's terrifying."
"Seriously, who would do something so heartless, leaving this place like this?" Hannah Nangong said.
"No idea. Maybe a powerful cultivator fought here long ago, or it could be the work of some deadly poisonous beast," Evan Yang analyzed.
"That's possible. So, what now?" Having witnessed the source of the poison, Hannah Nangong was curious about what to do next.
Evan brushed away the snow around the well, then touched the area with his hand. Everything seemed normal—no sign of anything unusual.
Hannah Nangong watched Evan Yang closely, curious about everything he was doing.
After checking all around the well, Evan said, "Looks like there's nothing here." "Nothing?" Hannah asked, intrigued.
"No deadly poison," Evan replied.
"Why are you looking for poison?" Hannah asked, puzzled.
"Just a guess—I wanted to see if the well contained any," Evan said. Confirming the outside was clear, he started clearing snow from inside the well.
Luckily, the well wasn't deep. Soon, the inside was revealed to both Evan and Hannah.
"I'll go down and take a look," Evan said after examining it.
"Be careful," Hannah said, feeling uneasy.
Evan nodded and descended. As he went down, he touched the wall and discovered poison inside, just as he'd suspected. At the bottom, he found a pile of chaotic stones.
Among the stones, a small opening was covered. Curious, Evan inspected it and found the poison extended into the hole.
"Such a tiny hole? Only a child could squeeze through," Evan muttered, examining it closely. The hole was strange, with pits around it, as if it had been attacked.
"Was it smashed open by someone, or by some creature?" Evan wondered aloud after checking.
Evan wanted to investigate further, but the hole was too small to enter. He had no choice but to return to the surface.
Hannah asked anxiously, "How did it go?"
"There's a small opening inside, but it's impossible to get in," Evan said, shaking his head helplessly.
"So what now?" Hannah asked, curious.
"Forget it. It's getting dark—let's head back. We still have to deal with Quinn Qing," Evan said.
"You're right. That damn Quinn Qing—he should know the consequences of stalking us," Hannah snorted coldly.
Evan didn't say much more, and led Hannah back to Snowfall Inn under invisibility. He checked outside and noticed Quinn Qing was gone.
"Strange. Where did he go?" Hannah wondered aloud.
"He probably went somewhere else for now. Don't worry—he'll show up sooner or later. Now that we've removed his tracking powder, he won't go far," Evan said.
Hannah nodded. Meanwhile, Quinn Qing was holed up in a room somewhere in the city, afraid to go out for fear Evan and Hannah would spot him. He'd realized he could no longer track them, which meant they'd likely noticed his tricks.
"Damn it, how did they just disappear?" Quinn Qing fumed.
If things kept going like this, Evan would leave soon and tracking him would become impossible. Quinn Qing had to come up with a plan, so he contacted Bullard Duo via communication talisman.
Bullard Duo saw Quinn Qing's message and replied, "Brother Qing, where are you? We haven't seen you."
"I'm still in the city, handling some things. How are things on your end?" Quinn Qing asked.
"They're hiding in their room. We're afraid there's poison in there, so we haven't dared go in," Bullard Duo said.
Quinn Qing thought for a moment. "Are you sure there's poison inside?"
"Yeah, the whole room is black," Bullard Duo exaggerated.
"The whole room is black? Aren't you exaggerating a bit? I think you've been fooled," Quinn Qing said, whether it was true or not. Someone still needed to deal with Evan.
"Really? Is it true or not?" Bullard Duo seemed convinced by Quinn Qing.
"It's probably just fake mist. But to be safe, grab a few people and throw them in—you'll know for sure," Quinn Qing suggested.
"Grab a few people? We're not familiar here. Randomly grabbing people might not work," Bullard Duo said, worried.
"Did you forget about today? Go grab that little girl and toss her in. I don't believe it's really poison—but if it is, she'll die," Quinn Qing said coldly.
Bullard Duo was thrilled by the idea. "Alright, I'll handle it right away."
Bullard Duo immediately sent someone to take care of it.
"What's wrong?" Hannah noticed Evan's expression was off and asked curiously.
"One of them just left," Evan said. He'd been monitoring outside, and noticed someone leaving.
"Oh? Where to?" Hannah asked.
"No idea," Evan replied, still watching. When the man showed up at the little girl's house, Evan jumped up, alarmed. "Not good—he's headed to the girl's home. Looks like they're trying to threaten us or something."
"What? Despicable!" Hannah was furious when she heard this.
"Let's go," Evan said, determined to reach the girl's house before anyone got hurt.
Evan and Hannah went invisible and left immediately.
The man had no idea Evan and Hannah were following him. He kicked open the door.
Inside, the girl's father was serving her warm soup. He was startled. "Who are you?"

"Who am I? I'm your elder. Come on, your elder will take you and your daughter for some fun," the man laughed. He was an eighth-tier Heavenly-Immortal.
"No, don't!" The father, who had just escaped despair, now faced more trouble. He desperately resisted, shielding his daughter.
"You think saying 'no' will stop me? What do you mean by that?" the man shouted.
"You think saying 'no' is enough? What do you mean by that?" the man shouted.
"No, Immortal, please spare us," the father pleaded.
"Spare you? Dream on! If you don't move, I'll kill you!" the man growled.
"I won't move. Please, I'm begging you," the father pleaded.
"Dad!" the little girl cried out in terror.
"Be good, little girl. Come with me, or I'll crush your dad," the man threatened.
"I'll kill you, you bad man!" The girl grabbed stones and threw them wildly.
"You little brat, how dare you throw things at me!" the man shouted, stepping forward to grab her. Suddenly, a sharp sword appeared and chopped off both his hands—so fast it seemed to materialize out of nowhere.
"Ah!" the man screamed, drawing the attention of everyone nearby.
"You—you two?" He was stunned to see Evan and Hannah appear before him.
Hannah held the sword coldly and said, "Trying to kidnap people? Today, I'll cripple you."
With another swing, the sword pierced the man's head. Blood splattered across the snow as the crowd dodged away.
His body was destroyed, but his soul remained. As he tried to escape, Evan reached out and sealed his soul.
"You can seal souls too?" Hannah was shocked.
"Just a minor trick," Evan replied.
The little girl was frozen in fear until Evan gently said, "Let me check on your father."
She finally snapped out of it. "Big brother, you have to save my dad!"
Evan nodded. "Don't worry," he said, then checked the father's condition. His life force was extremely weak and many bones were broken—he needed urgent treatment.
Evan carried him inside, leaving Hannah and the girl outside. The onlookers, seeing the girl's poison had been cured, were amazed by Evan.
"This young man is really something," someone muttered.
"Yeah, he can even cure that kind of poison," another said.
"I've observed for years—I'm sure the girl was poisoned by legendary toad venom. And that toad can't be small," someone else analyzed.
Hannah, originally just standing guard, overheard this and thought to herself, "Could the girl have been poisoned by toad venom? Maybe that opening leads to the toad? Could it be a powerful one? Or maybe it's just a small toad."
Hannah decided to tell Evan about it later. Meanwhile, Evan was inside using his powerful Heavenly Cold qi to repair the man's body.
Once the man's injuries were mostly healed, he regained consciousness. Seeing Evan had rescued him, he knelt in gratitude. "Thank you, benefactor."
"No need for thanks. Get up," Evan said, helping him.
The man stood up, deeply grateful. "I really don't know how to thank you."
"No need. We're the ones who brought trouble to your door," Evan said.
"Trouble?" the man asked, confused.
"It's nothing. Do you have any friends nearby? Take your daughter and leave for somewhere else—it's safer. Staying here puts you at risk," Evan said, handing him some Immortal Source.
The man was still confused. "Who were they, really?"
"They were after us. Since they couldn't catch us, they targeted you," Evan explained.
"I see. But if we leave, what about you?" the man asked, worried.
Evan paused, then smiled. "Don't worry. They won't catch us that easily."
"That's good. I'll get ready right away. Thank you, Immortal!" the man said, full of gratitude.
The man thanked Evan again and hurried off to prepare.
