"That guy just now was obviously the boss. Evan Lin actually cursed him to die twice in a row, but luckily the boss was generous enough not to hold it against him. Otherwise, we might all have gotten into trouble because of Evan Lin!"
On the way back, Evan Lin walked in front with Summer Mu, while Yolanda Fang dragged Lynn Chen along beside Evan, putting some distance between them and Liam Li’s group behind.
Ever since Jason Zhao pulled Lynn Chen in front of himself to block the attack, Lynn and Yolanda Fang had grown distant from Liam Li and his crowd.
Jason Zhao glanced at Lynn Chen’s back, then fixed his gaze on Evan Lin, his eyes filled with resentment.
He’d originally planned to use this trip as an excuse to win Lynn Chen over, but now things had clearly gone way beyond what he expected.
All because of that damned Evan Lin who suddenly showed up!
Jason Zhao seethed with hatred, but there was nothing he could do—he couldn’t beat Evan Lin, and had even lost two teeth from Evan’s kick. His mouth still throbbed with pain.
"Later, you should go apologize to Lynn Chen. You need to clear the air. As for Evan Lin, I’ll have Zane Zhan handle him." Liam Li walked beside Jason, his voice barely above a whisper.
Jason Zhao was stunned by Liam Li’s suggestion.
"Sigh, no matter what, you did go a bit too far this time. Lynn Chen’s ignoring you mostly because Yolanda Fang is around, but honestly, Lynn’s pretty soft-hearted. As long as you apologize sincerely, she’ll definitely forgive you. Once you get her on your side, you won’t have to worry about her supporting you later." Liam Li’s voice stayed low and manipulative.
"Yeah, Evan Lin is here too."
"Good."
Liam Li hung up the phone.
Jason Zhao looked at him. "What did Brother Heng say?"
Liam Li gave a cold laugh. "Brother Heng said on the phone that he's going to personally greet Evan Lin."
"Told you so! Once Brother Heng sobers up, Evan Lin is definitely in for a world of pain. I want to see just how tough he really is!" Jason Zhao gloated.
Liam Li snorted, while Sisi Shao and the others all wore expectant looks.
"That Evan Lin is way too cocky. Now that he's pissed off Brother Heng, let's see how he gets out of this." Maggie Ma said angrily.
"Yeah, Cathy Li only said one thing and he totally flipped out on her. He's so petty, such a bumpkin." Lillian Wang chimed in.
They were all waiting to see Evan Lin make a fool of himself when he got back to the resort.
To them, Brother Heng was a seasoned player in the social scene. Earlier, he'd let Evan Lin off the hook only because he'd been drinking.
"Come on, let's hurry up! Don't fall behind, or we won't get a close-up view of Evan Lin getting humiliated." Jason Zhao perked up, ignoring the pain in his face and picking up the pace despite his injuries.
They trailed after Evan Lin's group, keeping a distance of just over two meters.
Jason Zhao gazed longingly at Lynn Chen's back.
He figured that after Evan Lin got taught a lesson by Henry Zhang, he'd go apologize to Lynn Chen. Tonight, he'd definitely have a shot.
"Why are there so many people up ahead?"
As they neared the resort, Yolanda Fang spotted a crowd gathered at the gate, led by Henry Zhang, whose face was still flushed from drinking.
"Are they here to cause trouble for Evan Lin?" Lynn Chen's expression changed as she looked at Evan. She couldn't care how much trouble he'd caused her before—she shouted, "Stop! You should run now! They're still far away, if you run fast enough, they might not catch you!"
"Yolanda Fang and I will block them for you."
Hearing Lynn Chen's words, Evan Lin tilted his head slightly, glanced at her, and then shook his head. "No need."
"You—!" Lynn Chen was both angry and anxious at Evan Lin's attitude.
Lynn Chen felt her advice was completely ignored by Evan Lin, and couldn't help but get flustered.
What a blockhead—why won't he listen to reason? Lynn Chen thought to herself.
There were so many people on the other side. If Evan Lin went up alone, what if he ended up getting hurt?
And this place wasn't even part of Brightsea City anymore. Even if Lynn Chen wanted to call her father for help, there wouldn't be time.
Summer Mu saw Henry Zhang up ahead and felt a chill in his heart.
He glanced at Evan Lin, wanting to say something, but seeing Evan's calm face, he could only sigh.
He could only hope Henry Zhang would behave himself—otherwise, Summer Mu suspected Evan Lin might really break his legs.
"Brother Heng!" someone called out.
Seeing more than ten black-clad strongmen lined up at the resort gate, Liam Li straightened up, lifted his chin, and waved toward Henry Zhang.
He felt a rush of pride and vindication.
"So many people! Evan Lin is definitely getting beaten up this time!" Maggie Ma said excitedly.
"People like him—wherever he goes, someone wants to beat him up. Hmph." Lillian Wang pouted.
"Serves you right for being mean to me. Let's see you beg for mercy after this beating!" Cathy Li felt a wave of satisfaction.
"Thanks for this, Liam. Afterward, let's invite Brother Heng to River City—I'll host you guys!" Jason Zhao said, his face twisted with spite.
It was all Evan Lin's fault. If it weren't for him, this trip should've been Jason Zhao's time to shine.
Everything had been ruined by that guy!
Jason Zhao ground his teeth in hatred.
"No problem, no problem," Liam Li replied with a faint smile, glancing over at the gate.
But suddenly, his expression froze, a look of disbelief crossing his face.
As Liam Li looked at Henry Zhang up ahead, his face went stiff and his eyes widened in shock.
