The Eldest Prince’s Question
Princess Quinn Xiao took a deep breath. "Three items."
Ezra Cloud shouted, "Princess! I don't want yours, I just want my own!"
"How dare you! Who do you think you are, yelling at me like that?" Princess Quinn Xiao snapped. "Who are you relying on to be so rude to me?"
"Princess! If we're talking about being unreasonable, you were the one who started it, weren't you?" Ezra Cloud said. "You stole my things—how can you claim the moral high ground?"
"The Signet Ring belonged to an old friend of mine," Princess Quinn Xiao said firmly. "I won't give it to you."
Ezra Cloud glared at Princess Quinn Xiao for a long time, then looked pitifully at Lily Bai. "Your Highness the Crown Princess... please stand up for this little immortal!"
Lily Bai said to Princess Quinn Xiao, "Princess, if Ezra Cloud is willing to give you the Signet Ring, I have no objection. But if he isn't..."
She reached out her hand. "Since it's Ezra's, you'd better give it back to him."
"And what if I don't?" Princess Quinn Xiao stared coldly at her. "I'm a princess of Drake Abyss—do you dare do anything to me?"
Lily Bai gave a faint smile, then suddenly grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against the wall. "Princess Quinn Xiao, the only people in this world who can spoil you without limits are your parents! If you want to act spoiled and throw tantrums, go find your mother! That won't work with me!"
"You... you... cough, cough..." Princess Quinn Xiao struggled desperately, but she couldn't break free from Lily Bai's grip.
"Hand it over," Lily demanded.
As Lily's grip tightened, Princess Quinn Xiao finally gave in and produced the Signet Ring.
Lily Bai snatched it and let go of Princess Quinn Xiao.
Princess Quinn Xiao clutched her neck, furious and indignant. "Lily Bai! How dare you treat me like this!"
"So? What do you plan to do about it?" Lily Bai asked.
Princess Quinn Xiao glared at her for a moment, then turned and ran off.
Lily Bai considered for a moment, then turned invisible and followed her.
She was curious to see who Princess Quinn Xiao would run to when she felt wronged.
Who was her backer?
To Lily's mild surprise, Princess Quinn Xiao headed for the palace of the Eldest Prince.
But just like with Sean Shaw earlier, she was stopped outside—the attendants said the Eldest Prince was in seclusion and not seeing anyone.
Princess Quinn Xiao, visibly upset, shouted from outside, "Big Brother! Father Emperor is missing, Mother Empress is in retreat, several of our brothers have been driven away, and now even you won't care about us? Your own family is being bullied like this, and you still won't help?"
There was no response.
"No wonder Sean is Crown Prince!" Princess Quinn Xiao cried. "You'll never be Crown Prince!"
She flung out this bitter line, stomped her foot, and was about to leave.
Just then, the palace doors swung open.
The Eldest Prince, Brandon Xiao, stepped out.
"Big Brother..." Princess Quinn Xiao called out in surprise and delight. "You finally came out!"
Brandon Xiao looked at her. "Did you really just say, 'No wonder it's him, it'll never be me'?"
"No, Big Brother..." Princess Quinn Xiao hurried to explain. "I was just angry! I didn't mean it!"
"Angry words are the truest words," Brandon Xiao said. "Quinn, tell me—what have I done worse than the Crown Prince? Why did the Heavenly Dao choose him and not me?"
"Big Brother, you're better than him in every way!" Princess Quinn Xiao insisted. "Heaven is just blind, that's all!"
Brandon Xiao shook his head. "Heaven is never blind. Only people are blinded by the fog before their eyes."
"Big Brother, stop getting stuck in these dead ends," Princess Quinn Xiao said. "Listen, Lily Bai bullied me! She nearly strangled me! She's only so arrogant because Sean Shaw controls Drake Abyss now!"
The rest she transmitted to Brandon Xiao by sound transmission—Lily Bai couldn't hear what she said next.
