Clash of Experts

Evan Chu and the Mad Butcher Demon General were instantly struck by each other's attacks, both blasted back several dozen meters. Their faces looked terrible, but Evan's was especially pale, which shocked him the most—it was the last thing he expected.

At this moment, his body was actually entangled by that black demonic qi. The intense corrosiveness made Evan feel a faint pain—a sensation he hadn't experienced in ages. His earth-and-stone defense was instantly destroyed, wiped clean. Evan wasn't sure whether it was the opponent's sword-qi or the demonic qi that did it, so he became even more cautious of the Mad Butcher Demon General.

Especially now, his chest felt like blood was surging and he vaguely sensed internal injuries. Even during his battle with the Blood Emperor, it hadn’t been this dangerous—maybe the Mad Butcher Demon General was even more terrifying than the Blood Emperor.

But the Mad Butcher Demon General wasn't feeling great either—a trace of black blood appeared at the corner of his mouth. Anyone else would be shocked to see black blood, but for demons, it's a symbol of power: the stronger the demon, the darker their blood.

At first, demon blood is red just like humans, but as their demonic qi grows and their strength increases, their blood gradually becomes demonized. It's just like Evan Chu's blood, which is now pale gold instead of red.

The black fog shield in front of the Mad Butcher Demon General was also shattered by Evan Chu's strike. Even though it was just an Earthsplitter attack, once infused with five-element power, its might rivaled Heaven-Cleave. Heaven-Cleave is enough to wipe out a fifth-layer Saint Martial expert, so it's clear the Mad Butcher Demon General has probably surpassed the fifth layer and reached the sixth.

There was a deep, bone-revealing wound on his chest, but it was healing at an astonishing speed. Seeing this, Evan Chu was shocked—anyone with that kind of recovery is definitely not simple.

After calming the surging blood within his body, Evan Chu rebuilt his earth-and-stone defense. Although the corrosiveness of that demonic qi was fierce, his body's defenses were nearly monstrous. Even if some parts were corroded, his internal wood element would quickly heal them. Evan was genuinely happy about this.

The Mad Butcher Demon General glanced at Evan Chu not far away and said, "Frostbane, you really do have some skills—you actually managed to wound me. It's been ages since I've enjoyed the feeling of pain. Not bad at all."

"But if that's all you've got, you really aren't worthy of my full strength. Come on, let me keep savoring this pain—I'm already itching for more."

Evan Chu frowned slightly and thought to himself, "Is this guy mentally disturbed? He actually treats pain as pleasure. Is he some kind of masochist? Likes being tortured?"

Still, even as he thought that, he said something else out loud: "Mad Butcher, you really are crazy. If I go all out, you might not live to enjoy it—don’t blame me then."

With someone like Mad Butcher Demon General, Evan Chu wished he could just kill him right away. As long as he wiped out Venerable Solus’s henchmen one by one, no matter how strong they were, it wouldn’t matter.

"With your current strength? I really want to see if you’re that untouchable person the Lord warned us about. I’ve put up with you for a long time—if the Lord hadn’t stopped me, I’d have wiped out Frostbane Sect ages ago. No more free days for you. This time, you only have one ending—death!" Mad Butcher Demon General declared.

Evan Chu laughed, as if he’d just heard the best joke. He’d already planned to kill this guy, but now Mad Butcher was practically offering himself up. Such a chance was truly rare.

"Mad Butcher Demon General, if you want my life, come and take it. Enough talk—let’s see what you’ve really got," Evan Chu challenged.

He gripped the Frostbane Sword tightly, Chaos Dragon Force surging wildly inside him. Facing this guy, Evan Chu was prepared for the worst. If he couldn’t kill him, he’d use Star-Cleave—even if it meant activating the Timewheel Bracelet again, despite the backlash. Part of Frostbane’s memories still hadn’t fully merged.

Evan Chu knew all too well the aftereffects of using the Timewheel Bracelet, and the consequences of unleashing Star-Cleave. Both would cause serious damage to himself, so unless his life was truly at stake, he wouldn’t use them.

Mad Butcher Demon General glanced at Evan Chu’s cautious stance and became wary himself. The wounds Evan had inflicted were already healed. He quickly formed a black mist shield in front of him, and his strange sword flashed with sword-light once again.

This time, Evan Chu clearly saw the sword-light form into a long black serpent with horns on its head—almost dragon-like, except it had no claws.

The black serpent formed by the sword-light let out a hoarse sound that made people feel dizzy. Evan Chu was startled—he hadn’t expected this kind of attack. It was a rare sonic assault, and he hadn’t thought Mad Butcher Demon General could use it.

Evan Chu didn’t hesitate. He swung the Frostbane Sword, instantly unleashing a Heaven-Cleave attack fused with five elements—a nearly world-destroying force erupted in the spatial black hole.

The surrounding space shook violently once again, nearly collapsing—making it feel impossible to stay airborne.

Mad Butcher Demon General felt the overwhelming force of Evan Chu’s strike and gained new respect for his strength. A sense of doom formed in his mind—maybe challenging Lord Frostbane really was courting death, just as the Lord had warned.

But with the arrow already nocked, there was no turning back. His martial skill was unleashed and couldn’t be withdrawn. He could only hope his Black Serpent Thunder-Flame Strike would seriously injure Evan Chu. It was his famous signature move—capable of killing even a fifth-layer Saint Martial expert, let alone Evan Chu, who hadn’t yet broken through to the Saint Martial Realm.

Boom! A deafening roar spread through the spatial black hole as the massive energy attack instantly swept across dozens of miles, turning the flying meteorites in the air to dust.

The only relief was that the spatial black hole didn’t collapse—otherwise, with such destructive force, Frostbane Sect on the ground would have been wiped out in an instant.

The black serpent formed by sword-light lunged straight at Evan Chu, while his sword-qi fused with five elements met it head-on. It all happened in an instant—both were blasted hundreds of meters away by each other’s attack, their defenses and even clothing shredded to pieces.

The most terrifying thing was that both were now covered in deep, bone-revealing wounds—one bleeding black blood, the other pale-gold blood…
