"Don't worry, this isn't poison meant to threaten you," Grace said. "If your mother doesn't take this, she might not survive the next seven days."

"You've never met my mother, have you? How could you possibly know?" Eric Chen frowned.

Did she send someone to investigate him?

"You smell like medicine," Grace said. "Specifically, you smell of the herbs used to treat kidney illness. The most important ingredient is Earth Sharkroot—the more severe the illness, the heavier the dose. The scent on you means your mother's condition must be critical."

"I never imagined the Eldest Miss was a miracle doctor too!" Eric Chen stared at her in surprise.

Tenner was also shocked, his big eyes wide as he stared at her in a daze.

"Take it. Once she eats this, she'll recover," Grace said.

Eric Chen accepted it, still half-doubting, and forced himself to say, "Thank you, Eldest Miss!"

"Go on home!" Grace said. "Thank you for letting me know."

Eric Chen took his leave.

Tenner couldn't help but ask, "Miss Lawrence, when did you become a miracle doctor?"

Grace smiled, "That's a secret."

Tenner's expression was a mix of surprise and a little hurt.

Suddenly, he felt like he didn't know his Miss Lawrence at all...

When Eric Chen got home, his mother had just fainted—her condition was critical.

The doctor examined her and said they should prepare for the worst.

After much deliberation, Eric Chen crushed the pill Grace had given him and mixed it for his mother to drink.

His mother remained unconscious—he couldn't tell if she was getting better or worse.

Late at night, Eric Chen was exhausted and fell asleep at his mother's bedside.

The next morning, when Eric Chen woke up, his mother was nowhere to be seen in bed.

Eric Chen panicked and rushed outside, only to see his mother happily carrying breakfast in.

"Ah! Mom... You... You..." Eric Chen nervously stepped back several times.

Wait... did she just come back from the dead?

"Come eat breakfast!" his mother called out cheerfully.

"Your health... Weren't you... unconscious yesterday?"

"Yes, but after a good sleep, I feel much better," his mother replied with a smile. "I've never felt this good before! The gods must be blessing us!"

"Are you really alright now?" Eric Chen nervously held his mother's hand—it was warm.

"What are you doing? Go wake the kids for breakfast..."

"Okay!" Eric Chen was overjoyed.

He was grateful he'd agreed to Grace's request last night.

He never expected his mother would get a second chance at life because of it...

That afternoon, Tenner came to find Grace, saying Eric Chen had spoken to him.

"His mother's illness is completely cured," Tenner said, looking at Miss Lawrence with admiration. "Eric Chen says from now on, he's willing to follow your orders."

Grace smiled, "Good. Tell him he'd better find a way to get back to Leon Wan's side and work for him again. If he needs any help, just let me know."

"Yes," Tenner replied.

"And tell him not to worry," Grace added. "If I win this fight, I promise to make sure he has a safe place to live. If I lose... I'll do my best not to drag him down with me."

Tenner nodded.

Grace gave Lillian Lee two types of medicine, and within two days she received word to bring Maya Summers to the General's mansion, where the Imperial Advisor would fulfill his promise.
