Tracing the Heaven-Cold Seed’s Origin II
Palace Lord Marina of the Water Temple frowned when she saw them. "What do you want?"
"We mean you no harm. We just want to know what those people came to see you about earlier?" Lord Raksha Darkhand asked. Palace Lord Marina raised her brows and said, "Are you their enemy?"
"You don't need to know that. Just tell us what they wanted from you," Lord Raksha Darkhand said.
Palace Lord Marina raised her brows again. "Why should I tell you?"
"Not talking? Then prepare to die." Lord Raksha Darkhand struck her with a palm. Even as an Immortal Sovereign, Palace Lord Marina couldn't withstand the blow and spat blood on the spot.
Palace Lord Marina sneered, "Even if you kill me, I won't tell you anything."
"Then I'll just kill you," Lord Raksha Darkhand snorted, about to strike again. Lady Raksha stopped him, saying, "Idiot, if you kill her, how will you get any information?"
Lord Raksha Darkhand asked, "Then what do you suggest?"
"Of course I have a way. Watch this." Lady Raksha took out a bottle. A small creature flew out from it. Seeing that, Lord Raksha Darkhand laughed, "I almost forgot you had that thing."
Lady Raksha smiled, then released the creature. It flew toward Palace Lord Marina. Severely injured, Marina tried to resist, but as soon as it touched her, she fell unconscious.
"Even an Immortal Sovereign can be so stubborn. That's rare," Lady Raksha muttered.
"Alright, hurry up and ask. Who knows where they've gone now," Lord Raksha Darkhand said. Lady Raksha nodded, then questioned the unconscious Palace Lord Marina, "What did they come for?"
"They came to ask about the origin of the Heaven-Cold Seed," Palace Lord Marina answered involuntarily.
Lady Raksha asked suspiciously, "How did you answer them?"
"Of course I didn't know, but I only knew a group came that day—they were from the Wood Temple. After Evan and his companions talked for a while, they decided to head to the Wood Temple," Palace Lord Marina said.
Lady Raksha raised her brows, then withdrew the insect. After exchanging a glance with Lord Raksha Darkhand, she said, "Let's go."
So Lady Raksha and Lord Raksha Darkhand left, heading toward the Wood Temple. Lady Raksha asked suspiciously, "Did they discover something?"
"No matter what, we must stop them," Lord Raksha Darkhand said.
Lady Raksha nodded. "Exactly. Even if we have to kill, we can't let them keep investigating. It's just too dangerous."
At this moment, the Twin Rakshas began to feel a sense of crisis. If they didn't stop Evan and his group, they'd soon uncover the truth behind everything.
As for Evan and his companions, they had already arrived at the Wood Temple and met with Palace Lord Rowan. Evan spoke, "Palace Lord Rowan, I have something I'd like to ask you. Is it convenient for you to talk?"
"Go ahead," Palace Lord Rowan said curiously.
Evan asked, "Did the Heaven-Cold Seed pass from your hands to the Water Temple?"
Palace Lord Rowan froze, inwardly shocked, then forced a smile. "What Heaven-Cold Seed? I don't know what you're talking about."
Seeing Palace Lord Rowan deny it, Evan said to Grandmaster Left-Edge, "He says he doesn't know."
"Wrong. Use Heaven's Eye Sight and you'll see," Grandmaster Left-Edge replied. Evan focused his mind to investigate and discovered that the Heaven-Cold Seed had indeed appeared here, and it was Palace Lord Rowan who sent it out.
Evan quickly withdrew his divine sense and looked at Palace Lord Rowan. "We've worked together so many times—are you really going to lie to me about this?"
Palace Lord Rowan grew anxious. "I really don't know."
"Palace Lord Rowan, what are you hiding? Tell us—we won't leak it outside." Evan realized Rowan must be under some kind of pressure, afraid to speak the truth.
Just then, a beam of light shot down from the sky, striking Palace Lord Rowan's forehead. He died on the spot. Someone shouted, "Palace Lord Rowan was killed by Evan!"
