Suddenly Understood Something
"Adrian Drake, aren’t you the one who even understands our peach forest’s Spirit-Gathering Life Array? The Ten Thousand Poisons Array is way simpler—you should have this down, right?" Ryan Lu teased.
Adrian Drake coughed. "Don’t make fun of me, okay? That was all Damian Black’s doing."
He looked over at Damian Black.
Damian Black said, "We’ll have to fight."
Adrian Drake: "Fight what?"
"The core of the Ten Thousand Poisons Array is usually a giant poison beast. Kill it, and we’re out of here."
"A giant poison beast? Where’s this giant poison beast?" Ryan Lu asked.
"Just wait—it’ll show up." Damian Black replied, sitting cross-legged in midair.
He might seem like a small immortal, but his calm, steady presence was actually stronger than any of these Divine Race kids.
Lucia Lu was starting to doubt his real identity.
She sat down next to Adrian Drake to meditate, sending a voice transmission: "Is Damian Black really just a small immortal?"
Sure, there are spells to check someone’s cultivation, but you’d have to hit him with it—way too rude.
Adrian Drake replied, "Doesn't he seem like one?"
"Not at all," Lucia Lu said.
"That's just how he is. Even if Mount Tai collapsed in front of him, he wouldn’t bat an eye!"
"Anyone who can stay calm when Mount Tai collapses must have real strength backing them up. Is he really just a small immortal? You’re not lying to me, are you?" Lucia Lu glanced at Damian Black across from her.
As if sensing something, Damian Black suddenly opened his eyes and stared straight at Lucia Lu.
Their eyes met. Lucia Lu gave him a gentle smile.
Back at the Radiant Palace, the first time Damian Black saw her, he thought he’d never seen a woman wear red so dazzlingly.
Today, she’d switched to an ivory embroidered Divine Robe, but she was still just as blazingly vivid.
Maybe her brilliance had nothing to do with her clothes at all.
Damian Black felt his whole body tense up from her smile and quickly looked away.
Lucia Lu smiled and asked, "Damian, is your mother’s illness cured? Why are you still following Adrian Drake around?"
Damian Black glanced at Adrian Drake.
If you tell a lie, you have to keep it going yourself.
"Ah, well..." Adrian Drake said, "She’s all better! She’s totally fine now! You still haven’t found a suitable Divine Attendant, have you?"
"Mhm," Lucia Lu replied.
Just then, Snow Yuan came over and sat beside Damian Black.
She probably sent him a voice transmission, because Damian Black nodded slightly to her.
Snow Yuan gave him a sweet smile.
In that instant, Lucia Lu suddenly had a flash of insight, like a bucket of cold water dumped over her head. She smacked herself on the forehead, "Oh!"
"Oh what?" Adrian Drake asked.
"I just realized something," Lucia Lu said.
"What is it?"
"I finally get why Damian Black doesn’t want to be my Divine Attendant!" Lucia Lu looked at him, smiling.
"Huh? How did you figure that out?" Adrian Drake looked totally baffled.
"Just did, that’s all!"
Looking at Snow Yuan and Damian Black, it was obvious they already had a history together.
He was probably planning to go to Snow Yuan’s side.
How could she be so clueless, chasing after him and asking why over and over?
She immediately gave up on the idea of recruiting Damian Black as her Divine Attendant.
But Damian Black, maybe because he didn’t like her bringing it up, grew even colder. Suddenly, he stood up and walked off to the side.
Snow Yuan got up too, following him. She asked, "Are we really safe just waiting like this? Will the poison beast come out on its own?"
"It will," Damian Black said.
"Where is it? Outside the barrier?"
"Inside. Right below us."
"Then why don’t we attack first instead of waiting?" Snow Yuan asked, puzzled.
"If you want to attack first, go ahead and jump down." Damian Black said.
