Luring Out the Silver Dragon Guard

1/19/2026

"Of course I know the Flame Palm. I'm the all-powerful Golden Dragon—what's a mere Flame Palm to me? I can even use the Ice Dragon's Ice Palm. Want me to show you?" Evan Chu grinned.

The Fire Dragon stared at Evan, totally unconvinced. This kid was sly—last time, both he and the Ice Dragon got tricked by him. No way was he falling for it again. "Brat, don't even think about fooling me twice. No matter who you are, trespassing in Divine Dragon Valley is a capital offense. Prepare to die!"

With that, the Fire Dragon attacked Evan again, clearly intent on killing him with a single blow. This strike even carried the sound of wind and thunder, shaking the surrounding space violently.

Evan’s lips curled in a faint smirk as he dodged the Fire Dragon’s attack with a quick flash. This kind of strength didn’t even interest him—if he wanted to kill the Fire Dragon, one move would be enough. But he couldn’t do that. The Fire Dragon was useful to him, or rather, useful to the remnant soul of the Fire Dragon King inside his Flame Dragon Sword.

But now wasn’t the time to release the Fire Dragon King’s soul from the Flame Dragon Sword. He needed the Fire Dragon to locate the Dragon Shrine. To save Luna, he had to awaken his bloodline power, and that required the Divine Dragon Clan’s blessing. So, no matter what, he couldn’t really harm the Fire Dragon.

"Hey, little Fire Dragon, are you done yet? Your strength is way too weak—you're no match for me, and I don't want to hurt you. Why not go get someone stronger? Fighting you is honestly boring for me." Evan said.

"Brat, how dare you look down on your Grandpa Fire Dragon? Today I'll show you what real power is!" the Fire Dragon roared, unleashing a deafening dragon cry that echoed across the sky. He instantly reverted to his dragon form—a flame giant hundreds of meters long, but with only three claws. Pretty low rank, honestly.

"Why are you howling so loud? If you're calling for backup, you don't need to shout like that—afraid people won't hear you or something? Turning into a Fire Dragon doesn't make you that impressive. In my eyes, you're just a little mud-eel, not a threat at all. You should really get someone stronger, so you can see your own shortcomings and maybe break through in the future." Evan laughed.

The Fire Dragon ignored Evan and blasted him with Dragonflame. Evan knew a bit about Dragonflame—if it touched you, the consequences were serious, with powerful corrosive force. He dodged in a flash and landed right on the Fire Dragon’s back.

"Fire Dragon, your back is pretty wide! This is the first time I’ve ridden a dragon—feels pretty good. So, where are you taking me sightseeing? Is it to the Dragon Shrine? Then let’s get going!" Evan joked.

The Fire Dragon was half dead from rage—this kid was just too much, humiliating him like this. He started rolling and twisting through the air, trying to shake Evan off, but Evan stuck to his back like glue, no matter how much he thrashed.

"Little Fire Dragon, you really are naughty. I told you to take me to the Dragon Shrine, but you just keep doing somersaults. You like to play, huh? Fine, I'll play with you!" Evan said, then chopped down on the Fire Dragon’s back—not too hard, but enough to cause sharp pain, because he infused the strike with lightning element.

The Fire Dragon howled in pain again, but this time he was really calling for backup. Evan’s strength made him realize he was completely outmatched.

Evan knew the Fire Dragon would never take him to the Dragon Shrine on his own, so he had to stir up trouble to get inside. He’d already made up his mind. He kept attacking the Fire Dragon—never truly hurting him, but each strike sent numb, stinging pain through his body, making him roar again and again.

It didn’t take long for other dragons in Divine Dragon Valley to hear the Fire Dragon’s cries. Two massive silver dragons quickly flew over, and Evan spotted them from afar. He knew that in the Dragon Clan, only Golden Dragons ranked higher than Silver Dragons.

Silver Dragons are born with four claws and terrifying combat power, holding high status in the clan. In a blink, they arrived before the Fire Dragon, and saw a human standing right on his back—a blatant challenge to the Dragon Clan. Their dignity was being trampled by this kid.

"Impudent human! How dare you insult my Dragon Clan? If I don't kill you today, where is our dignity? Prepare to die!" One Silver Dragon instantly shifted into human form and shouted at Evan.

Evan had heard this kind of talk countless times before. He couldn’t help but retort, "Hey, little mud-eel, can't you come up with something new? You know, this kind of speech really annoys me. 'Where is our dignity?' Dignity my ass!"

The Silver Dragon was instantly enraged, conjuring a silver spear and thrusting it at Evan. Evan didn’t back down—he estimated the Silver Dragon’s strength at about Sixth or Seventh Layer Saint Martial Realm, nowhere near enough to hurt him. So instead of dodging, he charged straight for the spear tip.

The Silver Dragon saw this human charging at his spear—clearly courting death. He increased his force, but was quickly stunned. His spear wouldn’t budge, and a massive force traveled up the shaft, numbing his hands until he lost his grip and the spear flew out of his grasp.

Staring in shock at the human before him, the Silver Dragon realized his spear was gripped tightly in Evan's hand. Even worse, Evan gave him a blatantly contemptuous gesture—total disrespect.

"Brat, you’ve gone too far! Today, I’ll show you the true power of a Silver Dragon Guard!" the Silver Dragon roared. With another dragon cry, he reverted to dragon form and blasted Evan with Dragonflame, then followed up with a huge claw attack, filling the sky with claw shadows.

Evan hadn’t expected the Silver Dragon’s claws to be this fierce, or able to attack like that. Dodging the Dragonflame, he countered with a punch—again, not using much force, just enough to make the Silver Dragon feel a sharp sting.

Even though the Silver Dragon was a guard in Divine Dragon Valley, his status was still too low. To get into the Dragon Shrine, Evan needed dragons with much greater power. For now, all he could do was torment these guys and draw out someone stronger.

Lightning surged into the Silver Dragon’s body, and all his arrogance vanished—he trembled uncontrollably. After a few breaths, he let out a pained dragon roar, while Evan flashed up to stand atop his head—more precisely, right on his dragon horn.
