Charles Yin's smile grew even more joyful after hearing Cici's answer.
"Mm, okay." He replied to Cici with just those two simple words.
Cici almost thought she had misheard him.
He... he doesn't care?
She had just told him she had a son!
And he actually doesn't mind?
Or maybe what just happened was all just a misunderstanding?
Cici's heart, for some reason, felt a hint of disappointment.
So it was just a misunderstanding...
Looks like she really was overthinking things.
Well, yeah. At best, she's just an ordinary person. The Yun Family might be big in the cultural world, but if we're just talking about money, they're really not much on a global scale!
Besides, with the Yun Family's finances shrinking now, they don't even rank domestically, let alone internationally.
But the Yin Family is different. They're famous in the country, and their status and reputation internationally are leagues above any small family.
She breathed a sigh of relief, glad she'd seen things clearly ahead of time. Otherwise, she really would have gotten her hopes up for nothing.
Hearing Cici's sigh, Charles Yin's smile grew even brighter.
Mm, the boys did a good job!
Back at the banquet, the two of them instantly transformed into socialites, both looking absolutely distinguished.
But whenever Cici tried to drink with someone, Charles Yin would always quietly swap her wine for juice without anyone noticing.
His wife's tipsy gaze after drinking—he'd rather be the only one to see it! No need for anyone else to enjoy that view!
And just like that, Cici was stripped of her right to drink.
But she came tonight as his date anyway, so she really didn't care what she drank.
Even plain water would be fine.
As long as she could handle Charles Yin, that's all that mattered!
The banquet was definitely a success, because during it, Charles Yin publicly announced he wanted to work with them.
When the company executives heard his decision and looked at Cici, their eyes were practically worshipful—like they'd just seen their savior.
As for what they did when they left the banquet and went to the lounge...
Heh, everyone here is French—what don't they understand?
After the banquet, Cici was sent home by Charles Yin's assistant.
Alex drove excitedly up front, while Cici lounged lazily in the back seat.
Cici gazed out at the scenery, a hint of confusion flickering in her eyes.
She couldn't shake the feeling that she'd seen this scene before.
It was as if, somewhere deep in her memory, she'd once ridden home in a car driven by an assistant just like this...
Alex glanced at Cici a few times in the rearview mirror, finally unable to resist asking, "Miss Cici, are you feeling unwell?"
Cici heard Alex's voice and immediately shook her head, smiling as she replied, "I'm fine. It's just that this scene looks kind of familiar."
Alex thought to himself, Of course it's familiar!
Three years ago, he used to drive Mrs. Yin all the time!
"It's fate!" Alex enthusiastically played matchmaker for his boss and Mrs. Yin. "Our boss is actually a great guy. He only talks to people he really connects with."
Cici just looked indifferent. "Really?"
"Our boss never brings a date to any event. Miss Cici, you're the only one he's ever brought." Alex kept boosting his boss's image.
Cici laughed, "I've heard that three years ago, Mr. Yin always brought his wife to banquets. But after the divorce, he stopped bringing anyone. So really, I'm not his only date."
Alex almost wanted to say, 'But that was you too, Mrs. Yin!'
But before Alex could speak, Cici said, "Ah, just stop here. My boys need milk before bed, and we're out at home, so I'll grab some to take back."
In just two days, Cici had already slipped perfectly into the role of mother.
Just yesterday, she was still worried about finding the kids' parents and sending the two little buns home.
But after a whole day out today, not seeing those two little buns made her miss them like crazy—she couldn't wait to get home and hear them call her 'Mommy' in their sweet little voices!
Cici even started feeling jealous of their birth mother. How could such wonderful boys... not be hers?
Ahem, being jealous of herself... that was definitely a weird feeling.
Alex obediently stopped the car. He tried to pay for Cici, but she refused.
Buying milk was something she could totally handle herself.
Watching Cici carry a bunch of milk and snacks, Alex couldn't help but say, "Miss Cici is really good to the Yin heir."
Cici didn't catch the special meaning behind 'the Yin heir' and just thought Alex was being polite, so she replied cheerfully, "Of course! You haven't seen my two well-behaved boys—they're absolutely adorable!"
Right now, Cici was just like any ordinary mom—hearing someone praise her kids made her feel on top of the world.
Alex smiled.
He didn't just see them—he saw them every single day!
Cici didn't linger outside for long and headed home early.
As soon as she got home, two adorable, soft little buns clung to her legs, calling her 'Mommy.'
The happiness was almost overwhelming.
Cici gave the boys their milk, then ran the bath, washed the two little buns, and tucked them into bed as usual.
She'd already done this last night, so tonight was a breeze!
Bedtime meant a story, then cuddling one on each side as they drifted off.
The next day was the weekend. The three of them lazed in bed for half the day before finally getting up.
"Mommy, where are we going today?" Miles climbed out of bed, shaking his chubby little body as he watched Cici get things ready.
Ethan toddled after Cici like a little bird, asking, "Mommy, are we going out today?"
Cici tossed the last item into the box, grinning happily. She scooped both little buns onto the bed and said, "Be good and get dressed, I'm taking you guys out to play today!"
Hearing they could go out with Mommy, Ethan and Miles' eyes lit up!
You know, this was the biggest wish Ethan and Miles had for the past two years!
Being able to have fun with Mommy was the happiest thing ever!
Daddy was always so busy, they barely ever saw him.
Forget about going out to play together—even just eating a meal together was rare.
Seeing other kids go out and play with their parents, of course they felt a little jealous!
But now Mommy said she was taking them out to play—wow!
Yay yay yay!
Cici didn’t even need to nag them—both little buns got dressed by themselves, standing bright-eyed at the door just waiting to head out!
Cici carried the box out front, with the two little buns trailing behind her.
"Hey, Rona, where did you go last night? ... Okay, I got it. I’m planning to take the kids out for a trip, it’s spring and the flowers are blooming—perfect time for a getaway. I’ll drive, you should come too!" Cici said as she took the buns down the elevator, chatting on the phone: "France isn’t that big, where else can we go? Okay, I got it. Hurry up and come over!"
After hanging up, Cici helped the two little buns straighten out their crooked clothes in the elevator.
Honestly, Ethan and Miles would never admit they’d messed up their buttons on purpose—just to get Mommy’s attention!
They’re three and four years old—it’s totally normal to mess up buttons, right?
If they didn’t do this, how else would Mommy dote on them? If they didn’t act a little helpless, how could they make Mommy hesitate when making decisions, and maybe choose them over Daddy?
Daddy, we’re fighting for you here!
