He Starts Bullying Her Now
The shop assistant Percy looked especially sharp and replied, "I don't remember either! Miss, are you sure you've got the right shop? We've never received such an order here!"
Grace shot Percy a sideways glance, pulled out the contract, and held it up in front of them. "Remember now? Isn't this signed by Samuel Saunders? And the government official is the witness!"
The black-and-white words were written clearly, and the signatures of three people shone brightly: Samuel Saunders, Lily Bai, and the official scribe from the government.
Samuel Saunders's face changed. He exclaimed, "Oh my! Where did this come from? I've never signed such a contract with you. This is fake!"
"Looks like you want to swallow all my stuff, huh?" Grace sneered, sitting down and crossing her legs. "You'd better think twice—can you really stomach it all?"
The shopkeeper was clearly displeased, his face darkening. "Miss Bai, that's a bit harsh! Lucky Star is the biggest Spirit Artifact shop in Danyang City, and we've always put our reputation first. What do you mean, I'm trying to steal your things? What exactly have I taken from you?"
"Supreme Mythril. Fireheart Pearl," Grace replied.
"Oh, wow! You're really something!" Percy said sarcastically. "Even the Emperor might not have those things, right? Who are you, anyway? Royalty or a noble lady? Think wearing silk makes you a lady, or acting tough makes you important? You say you have those two items—who'd believe it?"
"Exactly! Who would believe it?" Samuel Saunders was quite pleased with Percy's sharp tongue.
In fact, it was Percy who had uncovered Lily Bai's true identity.
She was just the daughter of a poor family at the foot of Crane Hill, and had once worked as a maid in the General's Manor.
Somehow, she picked up a Fireheart Pearl, and then rode the Zhu Estate's carriage to show off.
By sheer luck, she even managed to get a piece of Supreme Mythril. That’s all.
Samuel Saunders even personally went to the Broker's Guild to check—this is exactly how it is!
Originally, Samuel Saunders thought she was from the Zhu Estate, so he was wary and didn't dare to go back on his word.
But since she was just a commoner, wasn't she easy to bully?
So he started bullying her right away!
Grace asked calmly, "Do you know who I am? How dare you insult me?"
"This is truly my first time meeting you, Miss. How could I possibly know who you are?" Samuel Saunders replied with a smile, unhurried and composed.
"I'm from the Prime Minister's Residence," Grace said. "Do you really think you can get away with lying to someone from the Prime Minister's house?"
"Heh... So you're from the Prime Minister's Residence! My apologies, my apologies!" Samuel Saunders said with a laugh. "But this really is the first time I've met Lily Bai. Are you sure you haven't mistaken me for someone else?"
Grace stood up calmly. "So, Shopkeeper Saunders, are you planning to take this to the authorities?"
"Authorities it is!" Samuel Saunders straightened his back. "I've run this Spirit Artifact shop with honesty for years, never cheated anyone—why should I be afraid of a scammer like you? Isn't that right, everyone?"
"That's right!"
"A shameless scammer like that should be sent straight to the authorities!" By now, plenty of shop assistants and onlookers had gathered, and they all chimed in.
Grace nodded and said slowly, "Fine! Let's go to the authorities. But let me warn you—if you stick to the contract, even if you lose your shop, at least you'll have somewhere to go. Otherwise, you won't last long in this business!"
