Heir of the Heartless Dao

"Let's go. Stop harassing the Yang Family." The Alliance Leader sighed. With that, the four Immortal Sovereigns withdrew, while the Alliance Leader returned to find Ming Yang and the others. However, he didn’t leave right away, staying behind to prevent those people from coming back.

When they heard that the Alliance Leader had fought the four Immortal Sovereigns, Ming Yang and the others were shocked, and finally expressed their gratitude, "Thank you for your intervention, Alliance Leader."

Everyone knew that the Alliance Leader stepping in meant a complete break with those Immortal Sovereigns. Those were four Immortal Sovereigns—if anything happened in the Immortal Realm, there would be four less top fighters, since there are only a handful of Immortal Sovereigns in the whole realm.

"No need to thank me. This is what I should do. From now on, I’ll stay here until Yang Han returns." said the Alliance Leader.

"Will Yang Han really come back?" Ming Yang asked curiously.

"He will. After all, he’s already left the Devil Realm." The Alliance Leader had just received the latest news: Yang Han had left the Devil Realm. If word got out here, Yang Han would definitely hurry back. That’s exactly why the Alliance Leader was waiting.

"Devil Realm?" Ming Yang didn’t know Yang Han had gone to the Devil Realm, so he looked surprised.

"You didn’t know either?" The Alliance Leader asked, surprised.

Ming Yang and the others shook their heads, showing they had no idea Yang Han had ever been to the Devil Realm. If the Alliance Leader hadn’t mentioned it, they would have thought Yang Han had simply disappeared.

Hearing about the Devil Realm, Yang Tian’s parents felt especially upset. They wished they could tear Yang Han apart—if not for him, they would have spent time with their son, and wouldn’t be unable to see him now.

After everyone dispersed, Yang Tian’s parents were in a room together, both looking grim. Finally, Yang Tian’s father slammed the table. "No matter what, I must avenge Tian'er."

"That’s right. Why should Tian'er suffer like this, while Yang Han is guarded like a treasure by the Alliance Leader?" Yang Tian’s mother said angrily.

The two guessed from the Alliance Leader’s words that Yang Han might come back, so they had made up their minds—this time, no matter what, they would kill Yang Han. But to do that, they needed power, and the four Immortal Sovereigns were their best option.

As a member of the Lynn Family, Yang Tian’s mother naturally had connections there.

At that moment, the four Immortal Sovereigns were discussing in a secret chamber of the Lynn Family.

"What do you all think of the Alliance Leader?" asked Lynn Immortal Sovereign.

"He’s definitely strong—stronger than any of us. But if we go all out, maybe we could defeat him," said Sovereign Heartless. The other two Sovereigns nodded, agreeing that if it came to a desperate fight, the Alliance Leader wasn’t invincible.

"But we can’t afford to risk it. We have to find Yang Han before the Alliance Leader does," said Lynn Immortal Sovereign.

"Do you have any ideas?" asked Sovereign Heartless.

"Just now, news came from the Yang Family: the Alliance Leader is waiting there for Yang Han, and Yang Han seems to be coming back from somewhere. He’ll return to the Yang Family, but the exact time is unknown," said Lynn Immortal Sovereign.

"If not for the Alliance Leader, we could have just waited there for Yang Han to walk right into our trap," Sovereign Heartless snorted.

"We still can. There are only a few entrances to the Yang Family. Even if Yang Han uses clone or stealth techniques, we can watch every entrance. As soon as he shows up, we can capture him," said Lynn Immortal Sovereign.

"Then why did you have us come back just now?" asked Sovereign Heartless, puzzled.

"I asked you to come back because I need your help with something. If we have this thing assisting us, capturing Yang Han will be a breeze," said Lynn Immortal Sovereign.

"What is it? You need our help?" Sovereign Heartless asked curiously. The other two Sovereigns also looked over, waiting for Lynn Immortal Sovereign’s explanation.

Lynn Immortal Sovereign pushed open a wall, and instantly a powerful paralyzing aura swept out. Behind the wall, something flashed brightly—one look and it was clear this shining thing was extremely powerful.

"This is a powerful lightning energy source for a Lynn Family formation. Now I need everyone to provide energy; once it’s strong enough, I’ll bring it to the Yang Family. As soon as Yang Han appears, we’ll use this power to trap him. No matter how many clones he has, they won’t escape its lightning, and if the Alliance Leader shows up, with the combined power of the four of us, even he won’t dare approach." Lynn Immortal Sovereign said. "Is this a fragment of the ancient Thunder Hammer that holds a Thunder God Spirit?" Sovereign Heartless asked, astonished by the description.

"That’s right, it’s one of the fragments. If it were whole, it could destroy gods; even as a fragment, it’s deadly to Immortal Sovereigns. But it needs enough energy. That’s why I had you come back—to infuse it with power. Once we bring it along, whether we face Yang Han or the Alliance Leader, we’ll have a way to deal with them," said Lynn Immortal Sovereign.

When they heard Lynn Immortal Sovereign’s plan, everyone was eager. If there was a way to deal with the Alliance Leader, then catching Yang Han in the Yang Family would be as easy as trapping a turtle in a jar.

So Lynn Immortal Sovereign’s proposal quickly won the other three’s approval. The four of them began channeling power into the fragment. When it shone brightly enough, Lynn Immortal Sovereign sealed it in a treasure container and said, "Let’s go set it up."

Sovereign Heartless happily followed Lynn Immortal Sovereign. Soon, the four of them arrived again at the Yang Family’s perimeter. With Lynn Immortal Sovereign and the others’ help, they set up a massive formation, its core being that shining fragment—said to be a piece of the Thunder Hammer.

Once everything was ready, the four Immortal Sovereigns maintained the formation around the area, waiting for Yang Han to appear.

Inside the Yang Family, the Alliance Leader sensed something strange outside and went to investigate—only to find he’d stumbled into a formation. Frowning, he called out, "You four, come out here!"

"Alliance Leader, I’m afraid we can’t comply. This formation cost us a great deal of effort. Do you know its name?" Sovereign Heartless smiled after seeing the Alliance Leader trapped inside.

"What formation?" The Alliance Leader frowned.

"It’s the Heartless Immortal-Slaying Devil-Devouring Array from the Heartless Dao. Even Immortal Sovereigns and Demon Sovereigns find it hard to escape, and may even be killed inside." Sovereign Heartless explained.

"Isn’t this formation supposed to have been lost for ages? How do you know it?" The Alliance Leader exclaimed in shock.

"I’m a Heartless Dao cultivator. I’ve studied it for years, but could never find the right power to create the formation. Today, with the help of the other Sovereigns and that powerful fragment, it finally exists." Sovereign Heartless laughed.

"Fragment?" The Alliance Leader frowned.

"That’s right, the fragment. It’s the very core of the Immortal-Slaying Devil-Devouring Array," Sovereign Heartless said proudly.

"I didn’t expect you to be connected to the Heartless Dao," the Alliance Leader said after hearing Sovereign Heartless’s explanation.

"The Heartless Dao—I’ve spent years studying it. I’m hardly human anymore, and I’ve lost much of what I once had," Sovereign Heartless said.

"Do you really think this formation can trap me?" The Alliance Leader sounded angry.

"Try it and see," Sovereign Heartless said proudly.

The Alliance Leader didn’t believe it, so he unleashed powerful force to attack the void. But to his surprise, his power vanished into the void, only to suddenly reappear and strike him instead.

Startled, the Alliance Leader quickly dodged, confirming the formation’s fearsome reputation.

Seeing that even the Alliance Leader couldn’t escape, Sovereign Heartless and the others were overjoyed. As soon as Yang Han approached—even if he were an Immortal Sovereign—he’d still be trapped.

However, the formation had a flaw: the four formation anchors were inside. If one left, its power would weaken. Knowing the Alliance Leader was inside, none dared leave; instead, they tried other ways to attack him within the formation.

Soon, another person approached the formation. When the group saw him, they were overjoyed, but since they couldn’t leave their anchors, they could only watch as he drew near and finally entered the formation.

"Ha! You finally came," Lynn Immortal Sovereign said with delight.

The newcomer was none other than Yang Han. As Yang Han tried to sneak into the Yang Family, he unexpectedly stumbled into a strange space—a formation that cut off all spatial abilities. That meant even the Pen had lost its ability to shuttle here.

Yang Han frowned. "Who are you all? Why are you stopping me?"

"Yang Han, I am Lynn Immortal Sovereign. As for the other three, you may not know them, but Sovereign Frost certainly does," Lynn Immortal Sovereign said with a cold smile.

Yang Han then saw four phantoms—projections of Lynn Immortal Sovereign and the others. Each one stared at him as if they wanted to devour him alive.

"Sovereign Frost?" Yang Han frowned.

"Kid, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know us, but Sovereign Frost definitely does. Tell us—where is he?" demanded Sovereign Heartless.

"And who are you?" Yang Han asked.

"I am Sovereign Heartless, inheritor of the Heartless Dao," said Sovereign Heartless.

When Yang Han heard the name Sovereign Heartless, he seemed to realize something. "I understand now—it’s you three." "You’ve heard of us?" Sovereign Heartless asked, frowning.

"Of course I have. I’ve heard all about how you three shamelessly tried to steal Sovereign Frost’s things," Yang Han replied.

"Damn you! You’re courting death!" Sovereign Heartless raged.

Just then, a powerful aura surged toward them. Yang Han was shocked, and suddenly someone appeared in front of him—it was the Alliance Leader. He looked at Yang Han with a wry smile. "I didn’t expect you to really show up."

"Alliance Leader?" Yang Han saw him and looked surprised.

"Surprised? There’s no time to explain. They’re after you. Just make sure you survive in here until you find a way out," the Alliance Leader said.

With that, he pulled Yang Han to the other side of the formation. Once there, they couldn’t hear the others anymore. "This is my barrier. Inside it, you’re safe—but we still can’t leave the formation," the Alliance Leader said.

"What’s really going on?" Yang Han felt completely lost. Suddenly, so many Immortal Sovereigns had appeared—and they all coveted Sovereign Frost’s legacy.
