Obtaining the Beast Cores

1/19/2026

Evan Chu was momentarily stunned by his own sword strike—dozens of Tiger-Elephant Beasts had been slain in a single blow, with most of the rest completely losing the ability to fight, unable to even stand, collapsing straight to the ground.

Blood was everywhere, staining the ground a deep red; the blood pooled so thickly it formed a river, flowing ceaselessly, while the stench of gore spread through the air, so strong it made people want to retch.

Evan Chu steadied his mind and glanced at the remaining Tiger-Elephant Beasts—only three were truly unharmed, one of which was naturally the Tiger-Elephant Beast King. Right now, the king was staring at Evan in terror, though in his beast form it was impossible to see his facial expression clearly.

"Utterly powerless, aren't you? Now you finally understand how terrifying I am. Killing you all is just too easy. At first, when I demanded your beast cores, you thought I was joking. But now, I don't need you to hand them over—I can just slaughter you and take them myself." Evan Chu laughed.

His tone was so arrogant it was almost unbearable, especially for the Tiger-Elephant Clan, watching their brethren die one by one before their eyes—the ground littered with flesh and blood, a scene so gruesome it was hard to look at.

"Kid, my Tiger-Elephant Clan has no grudge against you, yet you insist on wiping us out. Even if we all die here today, we'll drag you down with us!" the Tiger-Elephant Beast King roared in fury. If you looked closely, you could see blood in his eyes—a sign of rage so intense it injured his own heart.

"What right do you have to kill me? Just because you're a bunch of big brutes? Save your breath. Honestly, killing you is simple—I'm only after your beast cores. Lightning-attribute beast cores are extremely rare, and your strength makes them even more valuable, so of course I want them." Evan Chu said.

"King, you should escape—we'll hold him off!" one Tiger-Elephant Beast shouted to their king.

"No way. How could I abandon you? If death is what awaits us, so be it. Today, we'll show this despicable human the true might of the Tiger-Elephant Clan's strongest attack!" declared the Tiger-Elephant Beast King.

With a furious roar, the king let loose his anger. Instantly, both the fallen and the standing Tiger-Elephant Beasts began to roar as well, and golden light started to radiate from their bodies.

"What does this mean? Do these guys really have a trump card? Why didn't they use it earlier?" Evan Chu muttered, frustrated.

"Master, be careful! The remaining Tiger-Elephant Beasts are burning the energy inside their beast cores—they plan to die together with you. Once all the energy in their Storm Pearls is unleashed, their power will skyrocket and their defenses will become monstrous. You'd better leave now!" the Emerald Immortal Empress urged anxiously.

"There's even something like this? Then I'd better run for it—no point taking a loss just to look tough. I'm not stupid," Evan Chu said.

But just as he was about to leave, Evan suddenly realized he couldn't move at all. The Tiger-Elephant Beasts had set up a spatial domain—a lightning domain, no less. This was the first time he'd encountered such a field.

Still, Evan Chu wasn't worried. He no longer feared domains at all, and breaking a lightning domain was easy—he just needed to communicate with the lightning elements inside and achieve resonance.

But time was short, and he couldn't afford the slightest mistake. He immediately began to communicate with the domain, while the Tiger-Elephant Beasts on the ground slowly advanced toward him.

Golden light flickered ceaselessly across their bodies, and if you looked closely, you could see lightning crackling and flashing on their hides. If they really attacked together, that strike would be at least as fierce as the final bolt of tribulation lightning Evan once used to temper the Frostbane Divine Sword.

In this kind of situation, carelessness was not an option. Evan Chu grew even more anxious, but his familiarity with the lightning element let him quickly communicate and achieve resonance.

"Die, you lowly human!" the Tiger-Elephant Beast King roared. Instantly, all the golden lightning on his body shot toward Evan Chu, joined by the other Tiger-Elephant Beasts unleashing their own golden lightning at him.

All that power instantly fused into a single, bucket-thick column of golden lightning. If it really hit Evan Chu, even his heaven-defying strength might not be enough to keep him from being obliterated.

But at that moment, Evan Chu regained his mobility. His body flickered and he instantly teleported away, leaving only an afterimage as the golden lightning crashed down on where he'd just been.

It was a close call—Evan was already thousands of li away, but he could still clearly sense the terrifying power of that lightning strike.

That attack was no weaker than the Star-Cleave he'd unleashed earlier—maybe even stronger. The entire space shook violently, as if threatening to tear Godfall Valley apart.

Once the lightning faded, Evan quickly returned to check on the situation—he still hadn't collected their beast cores. After unleashing such a terrifying attack, he was sure they were spent, and finishing them off would be effortless.

Just as he'd expected, the Tiger-Elephant Beasts were all collapsed on the ground—even the Tiger-Elephant Beast King was barely holding on. But when he saw Evan Chu return, his eyes filled with unwillingness and terror.

He and his clan had burned the energy in their Storm Pearls and created a powerful lightning domain, yet still failed to kill this human. Seeing Evan completely unharmed was a blow no one could bear—despair overwhelmed him.

"Human, even in death we curse you! When you ascend to the God Realm, may you face the strongest heavenly punishment—may the Nine-Heaven Divine Thunder strike you down!" the Tiger-Elephant Beast King spat.

"You're full of nonsense. I don't need you dictating what tribulation I face. Just die!" Evan Chu snapped, speechless at such a curse.

With several swift Star-Cleaves from his Frostbane Divine Sword, the giant beasts all collapsed to the ground—the rest was just collecting his spoils.

It took Evan nearly half a stick of incense to gather all their Storm Pearls—though some had vanished, likely destroyed by the sheer force of his Star-Cleave.

By the time he finished collecting the Storm Pearls, Evan was covered in blood. With a thought, he used Watershift to bathe himself, then surveyed the tragic scene before summoning Heavenfire several times to burn every corpse to ash.

"It's time to leave. With these Storm Pearls, I should be able to advance my lightning element," Evan Chu muttered to himself.

"Human, don't celebrate too soon. I can't believe you'd dare slaughter Immortal Beasts in Godfall Valley. Today, you must die here!" Suddenly, a middle-aged man's voice rang in Evan Chu's ear...
