Four on a Trip

1/4/2026

Everyone started teasing: "Lucas Lin, who would've thought you'd be so considerate at such a young age! Looks like your girlfriend really has you wrapped around her finger!"

Lucas Lin pretended to be troubled and replied, "Yeah, but what can I do? Since I made the choice, I can only spoil her!"

The people around burst into even louder laughter.

Lucas Lin returned to his nanny van, leaned back against the seat, and someone next to him handed him a bottle of water.

"Bro Lin, should I contact Miss Amy right away?" the assistant asked.

"No need, I'll talk to her tonight," Lucas Lin put away his expression and replied calmly.

Outside, he showed off his affection in every way.

But deep down, he knew very well that even if he wanted to show off with Amy, she might not cooperate.

So, it's better not to bother her when there's nothing important.

That way, it won't affect their partnership.

The assistant glanced nervously at Lucas Lin and chose to stay silent.

From the very first day he was assigned to Lucas Lin, he realized he couldn't figure him out.

Lucas Lin could be all warmth and sunshine one moment, then turn expressionless and walk away the next.

The assistant followed cautiously behind Lucas Lin, not daring to say a word.

After all, his livelihood depended on Lucas Lin.

Since Lucas Lin said it wasn't necessary, he'd better not meddle.

Just then, someone outside called out, "Lucas Lin, get ready for the next scene!"

"Coming!" Lucas Lin, who'd been expressionless a moment ago, instantly switched gears and got out of the car full of energy.

The assistant felt even more unable to figure Lucas Lin out.

This scene went unusually smoothly. The director happily gave a thumbs-up, and everyone on set applauded Lucas Lin, celebrating his official wrap.

The director stuffed a red envelope into Lucas Lin's hand. Lucas Lin didn't refuse and accepted it as per tradition, bowing to thank the director.

"Lucas Lin, your performance really surprised me. There's a good show coming up in a few days—want to audition?" the director said with a smile. "It's not a big production, but the team is solid."

If someone offers you a chance, you'd be a fool to say no.

Lucas Lin immediately put on a look of surprise and said, "Thank you, Director, for the opportunity! I definitely won't let you down!"

The director nodded in satisfaction.

At first, when Lucas Lin was forced into the cast, the director was pretty unhappy about it.

But after seeing Lucas Lin's hard work on set, he stopped caring about how Lucas Lin got the role.

If every actor who got pushed in worked as hard and had as much potential as Lucas Lin, he wouldn't mind investors pushing in a few more.

Compared to Lucas Lin, that Fiona Wang is just a headache.

The director looked at Fiona Wang in the distance and just felt frustrated.

Forget it, just finish shooting her scenes and let her leave!

The wrap party is tomorrow, so Lucas Lin went back to the hotel first.

He told his assistant and agent to go rest, then contacted Amy.

It seemed Amy had been waiting for Lucas Lin's call, so she picked up quickly: "All set?"

"Yeah," Lucas Lin replied briefly. "Rona Muir is heading to City D for an industry conference, so our destination is set—City D. There's a nice resort there. It's inland, but the scenery and air are great, perfect for a vacation. This way, she can rest without missing work. I've already booked three rooms at the resort. How are your preparations?"

Amy chuckled, "You're really attentive when it comes to her. Don't worry, I'm ready to go anytime."

After getting her answer, Lucas Lin hung up and called Rona Muir: "Rona, have you heard of the flower fields in City D? I looked up some travel guides and it seems like a great place to relax. How about we stay there for a few days and unwind?"

Rona Muir laughed, "What a coincidence! I actually have a conference in City D too. Sounds good! My conference is over the weekend, so we need to head out early. Is that okay for you?"

"Of course, no problem," Lucas Lin replied happily. "I'll plan things with Amy, you and Mr. Pingshan just need to have fun."

"Ah, that's too much trouble," Rona Muir said, glancing at her husband and smiling as she held the phone. "We're driving the RV straight there. I always travel with a few people. If you don't want to book rooms, I can handle it."

"No worries, I've already booked the rooms. If we can stay, great. If not, we can cancel," Lucas Lin laughed. "So, Friday we head out?"

"Sure," Rona Muir agreed.

After hanging up, Lucas Lin rolled excitedly on the big bed.

He was one step closer to his crush.

Amy, you better not let me down!

I'm counting on you to drive a wedge between Rona and Jiro Hirayama!

On the other side, Amy hung up and quickly started preparing.

She packed everything she might need into her suitcase, ready to break up Rona Muir and Jiro Hirayama at any moment!

Time flew by, and soon it was Friday.

The four of them agreed to meet at the edge of the city.

Amy drove, Lucas Lin sat in the passenger seat, and all their luggage—four big suitcases—was piled in the back.

Rona Muir drove a small RV. She didn't bring too many people, just two assistants.

After meeting up, one assistant drove Amy's car behind the RV, while Lucas Lin and Amy got into Rona Muir's RV to head out together.

Rona Muir's RV wasn't as luxurious or spacious as Cecilia Gu's, just a simple bedroom, a small living room, and a tiny dining area.

It could only fit two or three people comfortably, but it was still way better than a regular car.

Jiro Hirayama nodded at Lucas Lin in greeting, then got busy tapping away at his laptop, writing a paper at the dining table.

Amy made fresh juice and brought a glass to Peter Pingshan. "Peter, have some juice."

"Mm," Jiro Hirayama replied without looking up, still focused on his work.

Amy didn't go to Lucas Lin, but sat next to Jiro Hirayama, gazing at him gently. "Need any help?"

"No," Jiro Hirayama replied flatly, not showing any emotion.

"Mm." The moody Peter Pingshan still didn't look up, not even wondering why Amy, who's supposed to be dating Lucas Lin, was sitting next to him reading instead!

"Mm." The moody Jiro Hirayama still didn't look up, not even wondering why Amy, who's supposed to be dating Lucas Lin, was sitting next to him reading instead!

Meanwhile, Rona Muir seemed to forget about that too. In the living room, she asked Lucas Lin, "If you two hadn't told me yourselves, I'd never believe you're with Amy! Do you know her background?"

Lucas Lin was stunned for a moment. He really didn't know Amy's background. At least, she wasn't working against Rona Muir and the others, right?

Lucas Lin pretended not to care and replied, "I never asked, but I trust her."

Rona Muir sighed, "True love!"

If it wasn't true love, how could he not care at all?

But this kind of thing is better left for Amy to tell Lucas Lin herself—it's not her place to meddle.

Rona Muir glanced at Amy in the distance, feeling a little guilty.

How could she have been so petty before, thinking Amy was flirting with Jiro Hirayama?

If Amy really had feelings for Jiro Hirayama, how could she have gotten together with Lucas Lin so quickly?

Guess I really was judging a good person with a petty mind.

Looks like I'll have to find a chance to apologize to Amy later.

Lucas Lin seemed to notice something on Rona Muir's face and said casually, "When we were at the hotel, Peter Pingshan was busy, you were busy, and I had nothing to do, so I went to the rooftop for coffee. Amy was there too. They say people are more likely to connect when they're far from home—guess it's true. After a few chats with Amy, I was really impressed by her conversation and knowledge, but I was too shy to say anything back then."

Rona Muir thought about it—she really was busy during that time, and Lucas Lin did seem a bit off.

Could it have been then?

Rona Muir started imagining things about Lucas Lin and Amy, while Lucas Lin just smiled and didn't explain.

"No wonder, Amy's about your age," Rona Muir nodded. "She's a pretty good girl."

"Yeah, I think she's great too, that's why I confessed," Lucas Lin said, opening a small bag and handing Rona Muir a box of breakfast. "You haven't eaten yet, right? I brought you some."

Rona Muir was delighted: "You got it right, I really haven't eaten yet. Did you guys eat already?"

Lucas Lin nodded with a smile. "We've all eaten."

Rona Muir immediately stood up. "I'll take some to Jiro Hirayama, he hasn't eaten either!"

"No need!" Lucas Lin quickly stopped her, glancing at Amy in the distance. "Amy already brought him some."

Rona Muir's expression changed slightly.

Something still felt off.

Lucas Lin, ever the quick thinker, added, "Amy is Peter Pingshan's assistant, after all. It's her job to take care of her boss, right? I don't mind, Rona, you don't mind either, do you?"

Since Lucas Lin, the main party, said he didn't mind, would it be petty for her to mind?

Rona Muir withdrew her hand, sat back down, and smiled. "Of course not."

Lucas Lin's eyes flickered, and he urged, "Eat up, or it won't taste as good cold. Oh, and look, I brought a map and a travel guide."

Lucas Lin naturally sat beside Rona Muir, opened his notebook and map, and showed them to her.

Rona Muir couldn't help but laugh. "What era is this, and you're still handwriting travel guides? Hmm, but you did a pretty good job! The drawings are nice too!"
