Death of the Ghost King

1/19/2026

Evan Chu was unleashing his strongest martial arts against the Ghost King. The air seemed to chill in an instant, the atmosphere growing eerily tense and frightening.

The Shade Lord, meanwhile, was constantly watching Evan’s side for any change. His Nether Phantom Void only needed nether power to maintain, but he couldn’t attack anyone else while using it. Otherwise, joining forces with Evan to slay the Ghost King would have been easy.

At this moment, ghost qi was continuously surging from the Ghost King’s body, instantly shrouding a radius of dozens of meters. From time to time, ghost heads appeared in the black mist, emitting bone-chilling, terrifying sounds.

Seeing this, the Shade Lord’s face changed dramatically. He hadn’t witnessed this martial art before, but he’d at least heard of it—the Ghost King seemed to be unleashing the Ghost Clan’s forbidden technique: Ten Thousand Ghosts Devour the Soul.

Ten Thousand Ghosts Devour the Soul is extremely domineering. It can devour a person’s soul and has immense offensive power. Once cast, countless vicious ghost heads appear, and these heads cannot be dispersed by any normal means—they only vanish when the technique’s duration ends. It’s a nightmare to deal with.

The scariest part is that these ghost heads can absorb the energy from attacks to grow stronger and fiercer. Almost no one can withstand it. But the user also suffers heavy backlash, because the energy absorbed by the ghost heads turns into ghost qi flooding back into their body—a lethal surge of chaotic power.

Normally, Ten Thousand Ghosts Devour the Soul is only used against extremely powerful opponents, and only as a last resort. The energy absorbed is massive—if it doesn’t explode the user’s body, it will at least rip apart their meridians. Right now, the Ghost King was absolutely determined to kill Evan Chu, willing to suffer grave injury himself to do it.

Evan didn’t understand the dangers of Ten Thousand Ghosts Devour the Soul, but the Shade Lord did. He urgently shouted, “Evan, get out of there! This is the Ghost Clan’s most powerful forbidden art—you can’t possibly withstand it!”

Evan was startled by the warning, but he didn’t intend to run. He replied to the Shade Lord, “Don’t worry, Father-in-law. Even if it were a Hundred Million Ghosts Devour the Soul, I wouldn’t take it seriously.”

The Shade Lord’s face turned green—this kid really feared nothing! Yet right now, he couldn’t help Evan at all; all he could do was watch helplessly and hope for a miracle.

"Evan, the Ghost King's Ten Thousand Ghosts Devour the Soul is terrifying—it mainly attacks the soul. You need to be careful. It’s best to let Jade Chu shield you, then use your Star-Cleave. After you endure the forbidden art, the Ghost King will definitely be weakened for a while. That’s when you strike back—don’t waste the chance!" Luna advised.

"Jade, help me block the Ghost King's attack in a moment. Whether I survive this crisis depends on you!" Evan called out urgently to Jade Chu inside his storage ring.

"Don’t worry, Big Brother, I’ll help you. Tom Chu can help too—why don’t we both shield you together?" Jade Chu replied.

"Yeah, Big Brother, I can help too! That guy is really nasty—I could trap him in my illusion forever so he never escapes, but since you want to kill him so bad, I’ll let it go this time." Tom Chu chimed in.

"Great! With Jade and Tom defending me, I’m not afraid anymore. Today we’ll join forces and cut this bastard down. Let’s go all out!" Evan said, excited.

"Yeah! Let’s do it!" Jade Chu and Tom Chu answered together. Instantly, a faint green glow enveloped Evan, and outside it, a subtle yellow light shimmered—so faint you’d miss it if you didn’t look closely.

The Ghost King was ready. Seeing Evan standing his ground, he was secretly delighted, but knowing Evan’s speed, he immediately unleashed a spatial domain to snuff out any chance of escape.

As soon as the Ghost King activated the spatial domain, Evan sensed it. But with Jade Chu and Tom Chu shielding him, he felt no discomfort. He quickly extended his consciousness and began communicating with the domain’s elemental forces, soon realizing it was a fire domain.

Slowly, Evan took control of the fire element within the domain as he waited for the Ghost King’s attack. He was both excited and nervous—even if he couldn’t kill the Ghost King with his strike, he was sure to inflict serious damage. Wounding a Fifth-Layer Venerable powerhouse would be more than enough.

The Ghost King moved. His figure vanished like a specter, and a massive wave of ghost qi surged toward Evan. "Enjoy being gnawed on by ten thousand ghosts, boy!" came the Ghost King’s voice from within the ghost qi.

Far off, the Shade Lord didn’t dare even breathe, staring unblinkingly and hoping Evan could survive. The Ghost King’s thousands of ghost heads surged in front of Evan—beautiful women, children, elders, beasts, Netherbeasts—every kind of creature imaginable, all twisted and terrifying.

But those ghost heads were blocked by an invisible barrier, no matter how fiercely they gnawed, they couldn’t approach Evan. Meanwhile, one of Evan’s arms was swelling and heating up—his Unicorn Arm was almost fully charged, just waiting for the forbidden art’s duration to end so he could unleash his counterattack.

Inside the ghost qi, the Ghost King soon realized something was wrong. The thousands of ghost heads couldn’t harm Evan at all, and the technique’s time was running out. He couldn’t accept this—his mind was full of questions, but he had no idea what to ask.

After about a minute, the ghost qi and the thousands of ghost heads slowly vanished, revealing the Ghost King’s figure. Evan instantly gathered all the fire element he’d prepared in the air and slammed it onto the Ghost King, creating a blazing pillar of flame dozens of meters high and several meters wide around him.

At that moment, Evan swung the Frostbane Sword. The Unicorn Arm-powered Star-Cleave was unleashed—a strike fused with five elements and lightning, and delivered at point-blank range. The Ghost King was still reeling from the flames when the full force of Star-Cleave crashed into him.

"Aah!" A blood-curdling scream rang out from the Ghost King as Evan sliced him into several pieces. A Fifth-Layer Venerable was slain by a mere Fifth-Layer Saint Martial youth—an outcome none could accept.

Evan himself hadn’t expected the Unicorn Arm’s Star-Cleave to be so devastating. As the Ghost King’s body fell, he snatched the storage ring from the corpse’s hand and tucked it away. Only then did the exhaustion and weakness from using the Unicorn Arm finally hit him…
