Heading to the Royal Capital

1/19/2026

Evan Frost and Claire Ouyang glanced at the city guards but didn’t bother to act. These people were so weak they weren’t even worth lifting a finger for; killing them would be as easy as waving a hand.

Just then, one guard swaggered up to Claire and said, "What a pretty chick! Haven’t seen such a juicy babe in ages. Boss, you’re in for a treat tonight—just don’t forget your brothers when you’re done!"

His words were utterly disgusting. Claire Ouyang, princess of the Mermaid Kingdom, had never suffered such foul insults. Rage flared in her heart; before Evan could move, she struck out with a palm, hitting the guard square in the chest.

The guard flew dozens of meters like a severed kite, blood raining down in the air. When he hit the ground, he was dead beyond saving. With her Seventh-Layer Divine Martial cultivation, how could these guards who hadn’t even reached the Earth Martial Realm possibly compare?

"You filthy bitch, how dare you kill my brother! You’re asking for death!" Another guard, seeing his comrade sent flying and not moving, flew into a rage.

Maybe he was blinded by anger, but anyone who could kill someone of similar strength in a single blow had to be terrifying. Yet this fool lifted his saber and hacked at Claire, hoping to finish her with one strike.

Evan frowned slightly. He’d wanted to keep a low profile, but in this backwater, they’d run into idiots. Claire clearly wasn’t afraid of these people, but as her man, cleaning up this kind of trouble was his responsibility.

In a flash, Evan caught the guard’s saber with one hand, gave a gentle toss, and sent the guy—saber and all—flying several meters. He landed face-first, smashing his head and bleeding all over.

The guard scrambled to his feet, but the one who spoke first called him back. "Heh, didn’t expect you folks to be experts. I really underestimated you. But if you want to enter Moonrise City, forget it. Let me see just how tough you are!"

With that, the guard pulled a longsword from his storage belt. Evan saw it was a mid-grade Profound-rank weapon, but this guy was just some trash at First or Second-Layer Earth Martial. Killing him held zero interest.

"I don’t want to kill anyone. If you know what’s good for you, step aside. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless." Evan spat out the words, feeling it was a waste of time dealing with these people.

"Kid, don’t brag too much. You think you’re tough? I, Captain Wu, have seen all kinds of experts. If I don’t teach you a lesson, you’ll really think Moonrise City is empty!" the guard retorted.

Evan’s anger flared. He’d given them a chance, but they refused—so now, he wouldn’t hold back. With a blur of movement, he threw a few quick punches. He didn’t even use his five-element power, but still killed several guards in a single exchange.

He spared only the talking guard, needing information from him. The commotion at the city gate quickly drew a crowd of onlookers.

People were shocked that such a young man had this kind of strength, and worried about the consequences of killing city gate guards.

These guards were usually arrogant and bullied the common folk. Many people secretly felt delighted to see someone stand up to them, but the danger that followed was terrifying.

"Who... who are you? How dare you kill Moonspirit Kingdom’s guards? You’ll be hunted everywhere!" The guard was no fool; Evan’s strength made it clear he couldn’t provoke him, but he still had to say something for appearances. As he tried to slip away, Evan smiled:

"Did I say you could leave? I gave you a chance, but you didn’t appreciate it. Now you’d better stay put. If I’m in a good mood, maybe you’ll live. Otherwise, look at those bodies on the ground—that’s your future."

The words drained all color from the guard’s face. His earlier swagger vanished. Staring at Evan, he stammered, "Young master, I didn’t recognize greatness when I saw it. Please, be magnanimous and spare this little one’s dog life!"

"Heh, now you know how to beg. I don’t want to make a bigger mess today. If you behave, I’ll let you go. Otherwise..." Evan paused, leaving the threat unspoken, but everyone understood.

The onlookers finally realized this young man was someone they couldn’t afford to provoke. It was rare to see Captain Wu so terrified.

"Yes, yes! If young master needs anything, just say the word. I’ll do my best to help however I can," Captain Wu stammered.

"It’s nothing much. This is Moonspirit Kingdom, right? How do I get to the Mermaid Kingdom? And how far is it to your Royal Capital?" Evan asked.

"Mermaid Kingdom? Sorry, young master, I’ve never even heard of it. If you want to reach the Royal Capital, it’s dozens of days by carriage. I can arrange one for you. The capital is straight north—just keep going that way," Captain Wu replied.

Evan understood—they’d landed in a completely different region. Only by reaching the Royal Capital might they find useful information. The world really was huge; they’d been teleported somewhere even he didn’t know.

"You can go now. Take this as a lesson—if I hear you’re bullying people again, I’ll take your life. Mind yourself," Evan said.

Captain Wu nodded repeatedly and hurried away, afraid Evan would change his mind. "Let’s go to Moonspirit Kingdom’s Royal Capital. Maybe we’ll find some useful clues," Evan said.

The four of them immediately soared into the air, leaving the crowd utterly shocked. Someone muttered, "My god, they’re all Heaven Martial experts! I never thought I’d see Heaven Martial cultivators in my lifetime—unbelievable."

As Captain Wu watched Evan and his companions leave, he broke out in a cold sweat. He’d actually provoked Heaven Martial experts—he must have been courting death. If he knew Evan could kill Saint Martial experts, he might have wet his pants on the spot...

Following Captain Wu’s directions, Evan and the others flew onward. "Linfeng, why didn’t you just kill that guy? Leaving people like him alive is a waste—they’ll only keep bullying others. Killing him would be a public service," Luna Chu asked.

Evan chuckled, "Linyue, why didn’t you do it yourself? Killing these guys is a waste of my skills."

"Linfeng, how come I’ve never heard of Blackmount Kingdom or Moonspirit Kingdom? I’m really familiar with the nations bordering the Empire—even the records don’t mention them. Just where have we ended up?" Skylar Yule asked.

Evan was a bit stunned. It was normal for him not to know, but for Skylar to be clueless too was strange. He really didn’t understand where the teleportation had sent them.

"Whatever, we’re here now so let’s adapt. Once we reach the Royal Capital, we’ll figure things out. With our strength, we can walk sideways in this kingdom—I refuse to believe we can’t get back to the Heavenly Dragon Empire," Evan said.

Captain Wu said it’d take dozens of days by carriage, so that’s just a few thousand li. For Evan and his group, that was nothing—if Evan went alone, a few teleports would get him there instantly.

By dusk, they saw a massive city wall ahead. They’d passed plenty of cities on the way, but hadn’t stopped—no need to waste time.

A few li from the Royal Capital, the four quietly landed to avoid drawing attention on the main road. They disguised themselves to sidestep unnecessary trouble.

Once on the main road, the traffic clearly increased. Soon they were fifty meters from the city wall and stopped.

The city wall was just like those in the Heavenly Dragon Empire—towering and seemingly endless. Guards in matching silver armor patrolled the walls, looking very imposing.

At the gate, dozens of guards checked everyone entering or leaving the Royal Capital. Evan noticed each traveler held a white token—probably an entry token.

Evan saw a middle-aged man heading toward the city gate and stepped forward to ask, "Brother, do you need a token to enter Moonspirit Kingdom’s Royal Capital? It’s our first time here and we don’t know the rules, so I wanted to check."

The man glanced at Evan and replied, "Of course you need a token. Moonspirit Kingdom is at war with Blackmount Kingdom, so inspections are strict to keep Blackmount spies out. You’re not from Blackmount, are you?"

After speaking, the man suddenly panicked and hurried off, afraid of getting involved with Evan and the others.

"What now? We don’t have tokens, so we can’t get in. Should we just fly over the wall?" Evan suggested.

"Linfeng, you’re a peerless expert—how could a mere city gate stop you? Let’s just walk in. If anyone dares block us, kill them. It’s simple," Luna Chu said.

"I agree. Stirring up a little trouble might be good—it could bring out some big shots from inside the capital, and it’ll be easier to get information," Claire Ouyang added.

Skylar Yule didn’t say anything but nodded, clearly agreeing with Claire.

"Alright, let’s just go in and see if these gate guards know their place. If not, a few deaths won’t matter—I’ve killed thousands already and a few more won’t make a difference," Evan laughed.

With that, the four headed toward the city gate... (Author’s note: No need for IV drips tomorrow, so there’ll be more updates. Continuing at midnight!)
