Playing Cards

1/4/2026

Rona Muir chimed in, "Wow, this is wild! No wonder this villa is so massive—there's so much fun stuff hidden inside! Cici, I'm honestly worried; after Joe Qi's wedding, I won't want to leave! There's just too much to do here!"

Cici smiled and said, "Sure! However long you want to play, I'll stick with you!"

Rona laughed heartily. "That's what I call a true friend!"

Cici sat down at a table, and a maid quickly came over to explain, "This game's called 'Hero Kill.' You need at least five people to play."

Cici glanced at Rona—just the two of them. Regretfully, they had to get up and leave.

Just then, Max Mo walked in from outside. He was surprised to see Cici and Rona. "You two are here too?"

"Oh yeah! Now we've got three people—we can play Fight the Landlord!" Rona cheered excitedly.

Max Mo laughed as well. "I was just wandering around and ran into you guys here! Since you want to play cards, I'll join you for a few rounds."

Cici smiled and nodded.

Playing cards was a good way to kill time—and a distraction from unhappy thoughts.

Right now, she didn't want to think about anything—her baby was all that mattered.

The maid quickly brought over a brand-new deck of cards for the three of them.

She shuffled the cards with practiced hands—shuffle, cut, deal—all in one smooth motion.

Cici picked up her cards and let out a surprised "Oh!"

Rona laughed and said, "Cici's the Landlord!"

Max Mo smiled, picked up his cards, and flicked his long fingers across the deck with a gentle snap.

He already had a strategy in mind.

But when he looked up, he saw Cici looking completely lost.

Uh... alright, she couldn't even organize her cards properly. Clearly, her card skills weren't up to par...

Max Mo was already calculating his odds.

"I'm the Landlord!" Cecilia Gu thought for a moment, then threw down a set of cards.

Rona Muir had never seen anyone with card skills this terrible!

Rona Muir twitched her lips. "Are you sure you want to play like this?"

Cecilia Gu answered blankly, "Yeah, how else am I supposed to play?"

Rona Muir shook her head. "Suit yourself!"

Max Mo's blue eyes couldn't hide his amusement. In this respect, Cecilia Gu was really different from Nora.

Nora was extremely smart. Even though she didn't play cards much, as soon as she got her hand, her mind would instantly lay out several possible plays.

Cecilia Gu... well, she was just born not to play cards.

Rona Muir sighed. Oh well, she decided not to play against her.

If Rona Muir didn't play, Max Mo naturally wouldn't either.

And so... Cecilia Gu won in the weirdest way possible.

Cecilia Gu was still confused after winning: "Huh? I won already? I really won! Oh yeah!"

Seeing Cecilia Gu's delayed reaction, Rona Muir suddenly started doubting her decision: Was softening up and making friends with her really not going to lower her own IQ?

Max Mo couldn't help but laugh.

Even though she was different from Nora, seeing her radiant face made his heart flutter more and more.

Max Mo couldn't figure out if it was her face that moved him, or the person herself...

Just then, Sylvia Ran's voice came from the doorway: "Charles, I still can't accept losing to you on the game console last time."

"Mm." Charles Yin replied in his usual icy tone.

When Cecilia Gu heard Charles Yin's voice, her smile vanished instantly.

Seriously, wherever she went, they followed.
