Her tone betrayed not the slightest hint of regret; instead, there was a faint smile as she idly played with Damien Gray’s fingertips. The ethereal grace she exuded was tinged with a trace of wickedness—a sudden shift that made one wonder if, having been held in Damien’s arms, she’d somehow caught his contagious spirit!
Even if Shawn Ye hadn’t immediately understood Damien Gray’s intentions, after Morgan Shangguan’s ‘kind’ explanation, realization dawned. His expression darkened as he shouted angrily, “You dare!”
Damien Gray curled his lips coldly, mocking, “If you want to know whether I dare, Master Ye, why not try me?” With that, he ignored him, as if giving him time to consider.
Damien Gray gently kissed Morgan Shangguan’s lips, soothing her, urging her not to be so anxious. Morgan raised an eyebrow at him, reached behind to pinch his waist—did she look like someone who couldn’t keep her cool? Was he just looking for an excuse to take advantage of her?
Damien Gray smiled, his hand at her waist softly caressing, his arm gradually tightening around her.
A flicker of panic flashed in Shawn Ye’s eyes. He could not let Yuna be harmed, but was it really safe to reveal the truth? Would it endanger the Ghostmaster? Now that the Ghostmaster was so eager to know about his connection with Consort Bella, was he plotting against Damien Gray?
Morgan Shangguan turned her head slightly to dodge Damien Gray’s lips and said with a laugh, “Ghostmaster, you really have been starving for far too long!”
Damien Gray nipped playfully at her earlobe, which happened to be near his lips, and said with a touch of grievance, “At least you know!”
Morgan was speechless—he really dared to complain! No one had a shorter pregnancy than she did, and he’d gotten nearly everything he wanted during that time, yet still grumbled! She couldn’t help but wonder, if she really carried a child for ten months, would he lose control completely?
Shawn Ye’s face kept changing, his eyes full of struggle. He had no energy to pay attention to the couple’s flirtation. Yuna Ye was just about to tell him that, in fact, the Ghostmaster was Damien Gray himself. If he did have some connection with Consort Bella, telling the Ghostmaster wouldn’t matter!
Just then, Maxwell Jing and Ethan Gu came in. Maxwell wore the look of someone who’d lost everything, crying to Morgan Shangguan, “Madam Guildmaster, please help! I’m barely alive!” He even showed off his torn sleeve to prove just how badly he’d been bullied.
Ethan Gu pulled him into his arms and teased, “You had no business provoking someone you shouldn’t. Serves you right!” There was a trace of amusement in his eyes—clearly, Maxwell’s misfortune delighted him.
Morgan glanced at Maxwell’s sleeve, now ripped wide open, and laughed, “Is Ethan better now?” Maxwell had always loved to provoke Ethan Gray. When Ethan was just born, it wasn’t so bad, but now that his cultivation kept growing and his patience wore thin, he was no longer polite. So Ethan Gu was right—Maxwell deserved it, he brought it on himself!
Maxwell Jing grabbed Ethan Gu’s collar and gritted his teeth, “Ethan Gu, whose side are you on?”
Ethan Gu glanced at him, pulled his hand away, and replied calmly, “Yours, of course!” Then he turned to Damien Gray, saying, “Guildmaster, Healer’s Sanctuary is making a move!”
At this, Maxwell Jing frowned. Earlier, he’d captured someone from Healer’s Sanctuary—clearly sent to test the Ghost Guild’s strength. The poison on that person was impressive; if Maxwell hadn’t happened upon them, the Ghost Guild might have suffered losses. He’d come to see Damien Gray about this, but ran into Ethan Gray along the way and teased him, only to be joined by Ethan Gu.
He didn’t want Ethan Gu meddling in Healer’s Sanctuary’s affairs, but it seemed his objections were useless! With a sigh, he muttered, “It’s just talking, I don’t need your help!” Ethan Gu’s idea of ‘helping’ was clearly reporting the matter to the Guildmaster.
Ethan Gu shot him a look but stayed silent, his stance firm. Healer’s Sanctuary was targeting the Ghost Guild, and as a Guardian of the Guild, he couldn’t stand aside. Besides, he didn’t want Maxwell Jing to shoulder everything alone. Other than Maxwell, there was nothing and no one in Healer’s Sanctuary worth remembering for him—and the same was true for Maxwell.
Damien Gray nodded indifferently, then suddenly turned to Shawn Ye, asking, “Master Ye, have you made up your mind?”
Ever since Ethan Gu arrived, Yuna Ye’s gaze hadn’t left him, though Ethan seemed completely oblivious. It was only when Damien Gray spoke that Yuna finally looked at Shawn Ye.
Shawn Ye said in a low voice, “I want to know why the Ghostmaster wants this information!” He had already backed down, no longer refusing outright.
But Damien Gray was unmoved by his concession. “Master Ye, just tell me your relationship with Consort Bella. The rest is none of your concern.”
He wanted to know if another force was connected to Consort Bella. Other than her, he couldn’t think of anyone else who might protect Shawn Ye. If Shawn’s relationship with Consort Bella was close, perhaps he’d know.
If this power had nothing to do with Consort Bella, then it was a matter of concern—there might truly be some unspeakable secret!
Shawn Ye insisted, “Unless the Ghostmaster reveals his purpose, I won’t say a word!”
“Is that so...” Damien Gray sneered, “Then Master Ye, don’t blame me for not giving you a chance! Logan Qian!”
Logan Qian, who’d been waiting outside, gleefully led several men in. He loved a good spectacle and was clearly interested in this sort of thing!
Shawn Ye pulled Yuna Ye behind him, glaring at Damien Gray. “Ghostmaster, if you dare harm Yuna, I’ll risk my life to make you pay!”
Damien Gray looked at him mockingly. “Sorry, but it seems your daughter will have to pay the price for your actions first!” With a glance, the men Logan Qian brought moved toward Shawn and Yuna, faces expressionless.
Two of the men engaged Shawn Ye, while the others pulled Yuna Ye out from behind him.
Morgan Shangguan quietly leaned into Damien Gray’s arms, watching the scene unfold. She knew Damien was only pressuring Shawn Ye, not truly intending to harm Yuna. After all, Shawn had protected him for so many years. Even if Damien didn’t want to acknowledge the favor, he didn’t wish to owe anyone.
