Two men got out of the two cars—both of them guys.
They looked at Rena Luo standing in front of them, a trace of nostalgia flickering in their eyes.
"Back in school, there were lines of guys chasing after you. Then you graduate and just disappear off the map."
One of the men sighed, then glanced curiously at the two guys next to Rena Luo. "Aren't you going to introduce them?"
"Clark Luo," said the sturdier guy next to Rena, grinning wide.
"Gavin Luo." The other man nodded, then swept his gaze behind them. "Weren't you saying there was a celebrity’s little sister coming—Queenie Tong, right? Where is she? Haven’t seen her yet."
"I heard she’s pretty hot, huh?"
Gavin Luo kept scanning the area, but not spotting any women left him annoyed.
Hearing that, one of the BMW guys felt a bit unhappy, but out of respect for Rena Luo, he kept his tone friendly: "Queenie’s over at the hotel sorting out the rooms. There are a ton of tourists at Changbai Mountain these days. If you want to meet her, you’ll see her soon enough."
"Let’s go." Rena Luo sighed, clearly a bit fed up with Gavin’s attitude.
As they were about to get in the car, one of the BMW guys spotted Evan Lin standing not far away and gave him a curious once-over. "Is he with you guys?"
Evan Lin was wearing just a long-sleeved shirt, totally out of place next to these guys bundled up in at least three layers.
Changbai Mountain hadn’t stopped snowing in ages, and the temperature was freezing. You hardly ever saw anyone dressed as lightly as Evan Lin.
"No idea who he is."
Rena Luo glanced at Evan Lin and shook her head.
"Stop staring, kid. You think a toad like you could ever get with a swan? Even if Rena gave you her number, would you have the guts to call?" Clark Luo laughed loudly.
As soon as Clark finished, the two BMW guys chuckled too, clearly not taking Evan Lin seriously.
The group piled into their cars and sped off.
Evan Lin flagged down a taxi at the roadside and leaned back in his seat.
"Follow those two cars up ahead."
With a bright smile, she walked straight up to Rena Luo and gave her a big hug. "Rena, I missed you so much! It's been ages since I last heard from you."
"I only knew you were somewhere in Jiangsu-Zhejiang, but you changed your number and I couldn't reach you at all. I was honestly worried something might've happened to you."
Seeing Rena Luo, Queenie Tong couldn't help but sigh from the heart.
They used to be roommates, the closest of friends, but after graduation, life took them in different directions.
For years, Queenie Tong had devoted all her energy to finding treatment for Serena Tong. If Evan Lin hadn’t stepped in and stabilized Serena’s condition, Queenie probably wouldn’t even have had a chance to relax until now.
"I missed you too, but there’s always so much going on at home. I just haven’t been able to get away." Rena Luo smiled.
"So you’re Queenie Tong? You’re pretty cute." Gavin Luo grinned and stuck out his hand. "Hi, I’m Gavin Luo, Rena’s second brother."
"Rena’s mentioned you before. By the way, your celebrity sister isn’t here?"
Gavin Luo’s eyes were full of anticipation.
"My sister’s been busy lately. Sorry," Queenie Tong replied coolly, her brows furrowing as she didn’t bother to shake his hand.
She really didn’t like Gavin Luo one bit.
"Hey, don’t worry about it! Shake my hand, we’re all friends now. If you and your sister ever want to hang out in Jiangsu-Zhejiang, I’ll cover all the expenses!" Gavin Luo laughed, reaching out to grab Queenie Tong’s hand.
Queenie Tong took a step back, her anger starting to show.
She thinks you’re dirty, and you still won’t quit? Man, you’ve got some thick skin.
The two guys who’d driven up in BMWs looked a little annoyed. Just as Rena Luo was about to step in, everyone suddenly heard a faint voice from outside the hotel.
Gavin Luo’s face darkened at those words. He turned to look outside and saw Evan Lin getting out of a cab, hands stuffed in his pockets.
"You?"
When Gavin Luo saw Evan Lin coming over, he recognized him instantly and raised his eyebrows.
"Well, aren’t you bold? You really think you can score a goddess?" Clark Luo looked at Evan Lin with amusement, squinting his eyes.
A wave of invisible killing intent surged from Clark Luo, instantly enveloping Evan Lin.
But to Clark Luo’s surprise, Evan Lin didn’t seem to notice at all. He just kept his indifferent look, climbing the steps toward the hotel one step at a time.
Clark Luo’s gaze grew a little stranger as he watched Evan Lin.
"Who asked you to butt in?" one of the BMW guys frowned.
He’d wanted to step in and help Queenie Tong out, hoping to win some points, but Evan Lin beat him to it.
He never expected Evan Lin to move faster.
"You want to play hero? You better make sure you’re up to it."
Gavin Luo watched as Evan Lin strode into the lobby, his face growing darker by the second.
This was a straight-up challenge!
Gavin Luo clenched his fists, ready to make a move.
Rena Luo frowned, wondering if she should step in. But before she could, she noticed Queenie Tong—who’d just been glaring at Gavin Luo—suddenly freeze, her pretty face stunned and her eyes flashing with disbelief and joy.
"Why are you here?!"
Queenie Tong called out in surprise, rushing past Rena Luo and the others to Evan Lin, her face practically glowing with excitement.
Her eyes sparkled with gratitude and admiration as she looked at Evan Lin.
Her reaction left Rena Luo and the others completely stunned.
