Why Did Master Become an Elder
"A new President?" Elder Samuel looked at him. "Elder Thomas Jiang, who do you think should be the next President?"
"I believe the Grand Elder is the most suitable candidate," Elder Thomas Jiang said. "The Grand Elder is one of the founders of the Spirit Alliance alongside the late President, and has the most seniority. Plus, he has the Ye Clan as his backing—"
"What a joke!" Elder Samuel interrupted him, sneering, "Does the Spirit Alliance need any clan as its backing?"
Elder Thomas Jiang frowned, "Then do you think we should just keep searching aimlessly? The President's seat has been vacant for five hundred years! Five hundred years! If this keeps up, the Spirit Alliance will fall apart sooner or later!"
Elder Samuel fell silent.
Over the years, the six elders have often disagreed.
And none of them would ever yield to the others.
Most of the time, even they felt like things were falling apart.
"How about I make a suggestion?" Jun Lionhead suddenly spoke up.
"What insight do you have, Elder Lionhead?" The Grand Elder asked with a smile.
"It's true that leaving the President's seat of the Spirit Alliance vacant for so long isn't ideal," said Jun Lionhead. "Among the six of us, we're all at Level Sixteen or Seventeen as Spirit Alchemists. Whoever first reaches Level Eighteen can temporarily lead the Spirit Alliance. Meanwhile, we must do our utmost to keep searching for the true successor. Once found, the President's position will be returned to them. What do you all think?"
The Third Elder immediately nodded. "I think that's workable."
Elder Thomas Jiang and the Fifth Elder chimed in as well, agreeing that this was a fair solution.
Finally, the Second Elder agreed too.
"Grand Elder, what do you think?" Jun Lionhead asked.
The Grand Elder paused for a moment and said, "Elder Lionhead's proposal is fair and just. I have no objections."
Jun Lionhead smiled and glanced at the disciples nearby. "You should work hard too! If any of you surpass your mentors and become an Eighteen-level Spirit Alchemist first, you could also become President."
Elder Thomas Jiang laughed and nodded. "That's right! Among the younger generation, talent abounds. Who knows, maybe one of you will outshine your teachers and end up as President!"
His words were mostly in jest.
But no one objected.
And so, the elders decided: whoever becomes an Eighteen-level Spirit Alchemist first will lead the Spirit Alliance.
Everyone continued their search for the true successor.
But in reality, none of them truly believed the successor to the President would ever be found...
...
When Grace and Jun Lionhead were alone, she asked him, "Master, so the Spirit Alliance has been searching for the Alchemist God's successor all this time. Why didn't you just say the legacy is with me?"
"What difference would it make if I did?"
"If you did, I could be President!"
"For how many days?"
Grace: "..."
"Do you really think they've been searching for the successor for five hundred years just to find a President for the Spirit Alliance?"
"Then what are they after?"
"Maybe some of the elders really do care about the President's seat," Jun Lionhead said. "But trust me, some are after the Alchemist God's legacy itself!
With your current skills, someone could kill you and snatch the legacy in a heartbeat!
If you reveal yourself too soon, you'll just become everyone's target—and end up dead and forgotten!"
Grace nervously rubbed her neck.
"Do you know why I became an elder?" Jun Lionhead asked.
Grace looked at him. "To help me and Felix Xi."
"I became an Elder of the Spirit Alliance so I could protect you as you grow! Only when you're strong enough will you have real power—and only then can you truly become President of the Spirit Alliance."
