Chapter 905: Sky Rank Power

It was as if a banshee were screaming, burning her very life away—the air itself shuddered with her wails. The piercing sound rippled outward, sweeping across the nearby alchemical golems that had lost their energy. For a moment, it was as if they had come back to life; they trembled violently, then exploded into a storm of fragments.

Leon’s face was cold as he rapidly spat out note after note. In an instant, a dozen Frost Shields and Flame Barriers appeared, hovering in midair.

Each Frost Shield was backed by a Flame Barrier, layer upon layer, interwoven in a complex pattern.

The golden spikes pierced through shield after shield, their momentum barely checked. Each time they met a Flame Barrier, they were scorched; then, the Frost Shield would freeze them solid, only for the next Flame Barrier to burn them again.

This torturous cycle repeated a dozen times in the blink of an eye, driving those vicious golden spikes to the very edge of destruction.

In the end, Leon had to conjure an Earth Barrier just to barely fend off the last of those golden spikes.

He stared at the golden spike now lodged halfway through his Earth Barrier, and felt a cold sweat bead on his brow. So much for confidence.

After all, these golden spikes were nothing but the hairs on the Spider Alchemical Golem’s legs…

Each was layered with piercing, acceleration, anti-magic, fortification, and a dozen more enchantments—giving them a terrifying power that would make even eighth-level spells jealous.

And that last attack—it was a wide-area strike...

It wasn’t just Leon; Reina, the alchemical golems, Anderson, and Hubert were all targeted.

Reina transformed into a Frost Dragon, retreating and dodging, surrounded by a haze of frost. Frost Shields coalesced furiously before her, but they couldn’t effectively stop the golden spikes from piercing through.

In less than a second, the Frost Shields lost all effectiveness. Reina had to spread her wings, a layer of deep blue frost covering them, shielding herself as she braced for the barrage of golden spikes.

Clang, clang, clang...

A series of sharp collisions rang out—Reina’s wings were soon studded with golden spikes.

Crack...

With the sound of ice shattering, the deep blue frost on Reina’s wings broke apart completely, and the golden spikes fell to the ground.

The alchemical golems were actually the easiest to defend—the ones with swapped-out parts dodged the worst of it, using offensive spells to blunt the golden spikes’ power. Then, as true Sky Rank Alchemical Golems, they simply absorbed the impact, their bodies only shuddering and a few replaceable parts getting damaged.

Hubert learned quickly, hiding behind the massive warhammer Slaughter, exposing only the least vulnerable parts of himself.

The golden spikes slammed into Slaughter—the ancient warhammer forged from the Primordial Venom Dragon’s rib bone. The impact couldn’t break the hammer, but the force sent Hubert staggering backward, and one spike even pierced his left arm, tearing away a chunk of flesh.

When the assault faded, Hubert spat out a mouthful of blood, terror in his eyes. Just the force through Slaughter was enough to injure him. It was horrifying...

The Spider Alchemical Golem’s first wave ended. In midair, Reina unleashed a deafening dragon roar, ice-blue light bursting from her mouth.

Leon raised his Doombringer Staff, the Arcane Wheel behind him erupting with runes. With a short incantation, meteors rained down from the sky, crashing toward the Spider Alchemical Golem.

The Spider Alchemical Golem showed no sign of slowing. It swung two blade-like legs, slashing a blur in front of itself, shredding a dozen meteors like paper.

Suddenly, the ground beneath it trembled—the earth, reinforced countless times, turned instantly to a mire.

A thirty-meter radius became a swamp, and the Spider Alchemical Golem’s long legs sank two or three meters deep in an instant.

At the same time, Anderson’s Elemental Tempest and the alchemical golems’ Spell Torrent pressed in from both sides.

A massive rune lit up on the Spider Alchemical Golem’s back, rising into the air. A circular shield formed from flowing water enveloped it.

Anderson’s Elemental Tempest and the Spell Torrent battered the water shield, but only made its currents swirl faster—there was no sign of it breaking.

"Damn it, Water Screen Heavenly Splendor—a ninth-level water defense spell, and it can be solidified into an instant-cast shield..."

Anderson cursed bitterly, but kept grinding his teeth as he manipulated the Arcane Wheel to unleash another Elemental Tempest.

Meanwhile, Reina hovered in midair, aiming a blast of piercing dragon breath at the temporarily suppressed Spider Alchemical Golem.

It was like an ice-blue sun exploded from Reina’s maw, its frigid radiance condensing into a beam that crashed hard against the Spider Alchemical Golem’s shield...

Crack...

In an instant, the water-flowing shield was frozen into solid ice...

Reina’s Absolute Zero Dragon Breath rose again with her very essence, reaching a terrifying new height. In a flash, she froze the solidified ninth-level Water Screen Heavenly Splendor, and even the Spider Alchemical Golem inside was instantly encased in ice.

The surrounding space, struck by that Absolute Zero breath, was briefly frozen as well. Waves stopped moving, the air itself turned to ice. It was as if a perfectly transparent crystal pillar had appeared in midair.

One breath of Absolute Zero left Reina gasping—her trump card was always this breath, but now, fused with the Primordial Venom Dragon’s magic crystal, her essence had evolved again. This move, drawn from the Frost Dragon’s true breath, was even more terrifying, but the cost was greater too.

Thirty-nine ranks, yet she could unleash a breath attack with effects far beyond the ordinary.

The Spider Alchemical Golem and its Water Screen Heavenly Splendor were frozen together. In that instant, Leon went all out—his Doombringer Staff shimmered with a purple dragon’s phantom, which appeared behind him, clutching the massive Arcane Wheel. Suddenly, four giant waves surged before Leon, and wild four-element spells erupted from them.

The four-element spells crashed against the surface of the massive ice sphere, instantly triggering a terrifying Elemental Tempest.

Anderson and the alchemical golems were also going all out, their fearsome spellstorms battering the fixed target. Combined with Leon’s magic, it created a scene of elemental annihilation.

Elemental tempests tore and crashed, destroying everything they touched. The earth was scraped raw, and the massive ice sphere was caught in the middle, frenziedly battered by the annihilating storm.

In less than three seconds, the ice sphere exploded with a thunderous boom, shattering into fragments...

Inside, the Spider Alchemical Golem had become a lifeless ice sculpture.

After the annihilating elemental tempests had torn and battered it, fine cracks spidered across the surface of the ice sculpture...

Crack...

Seeing this scene, Leon felt no joy at all; instead, his brows furrowed deeply.

"Fall back, everyone get outside!"

Leon shouted low, channeling his magic as he rapidly intoned an incantation. Runes spilled from his mouth, and the giant Arcane Wheel behind him erupted with a torrent of terrifying runes.

In an instant, a cluster of blue fireballs coalesced madly before Leon...

In less than a second, over a hundred Explosive Flame Spells had formed, each trailing a long tail as they hurtled toward the Spider Alchemical Golem...

Just then, the ice on the Spider Alchemical Golem’s body exploded, fragments shooting out like arrows, slicing the air with a shrill whistle.

The Spider Alchemical Golem shrieked, its eight legs becoming a blur, its massive body growing indistinct as it charged toward Leon.

At this moment, Leon unleashed his full magical power, using the technique of explosive mana to instantly condense over a hundred Explosive Flame Spells, which detonated before the Spider Alchemical Golem...

The hundred Explosive Flame Spells detonated together, instantly merging into a massive blue fireball tens of meters across. The terrifying explosive force slammed the Spider Alchemical Golem, sending its body flying.

Leon retreated while casting Flame Flash, rapidly falling back.

Anderson and the alchemical golems instantly followed Leon’s lead, retreating as soon as he gave the word, while Hubert—always the one to value his own life—bolted the moment Leon spoke.

Reina transformed into her Frost Dragon form, spreading her wings and flying outward.

The Spider Alchemical Golem, struck by the super explosion of over a hundred Explosive Flame Spells, was blasted away, losing some of the golden hairs on its legs. A few runes on its body dimmed slightly, but it wasn’t seriously damaged.

As Leon retreated, he sighed inwardly. The strength of a Rank Four Sealed Magus was still too weak. If he were a Rank Five, he could truly begin to show the fighting power a Sealed Magus ought to have—maybe then he could just barely contend with this Spider Alchemical Golem. Right now, there was simply no way to win.

Almost none of the spells he cast could do any real damage to his opponent.

Sky Rank...

Just one step short, and the gap is like a chasm—he’d used every trump card, and it still barely made a difference.

As Leon retreated, the Spider Alchemical Golem stabbed its eight legs into the nearby wall, its eight pitch-black eyes glinting with icy coldness.

Five of its eyes slowly lit up, and dense, tiny runes swirled within them.

For a moment, the movements of Leon, Hubert, Anderson, the alchemical golems, and Reina all seemed to slow down.

Leon’s face changed dramatically. He spat out a rune, and instantly, a plain earthen wall rose up in front of him. The wall burst from the ground, forming a barrier over ten meters high—but this time, the process was oddly slow, taking a full second to take shape.

As the earthen wall finished forming, Leon and the others finally regained normal movement.
