Indignation

"What did you just say?!"

Are you out of your mind, kid?

"Do you even know who Young Master Gavin is? You actually want him to bow to you? Just being allowed to play a round with Young Master Gavin is a blessing you couldn't earn in a hundred lifetimes! Now that he's giving you a little face, you really think you're someone important?"

As soon as Evan Lin spoke, Gavin Guan’s whole circle of rich heirs exploded.

Their faces were full of outrage, all eyes locked on Evan Lin. If Gavin hadn’t stopped them, they probably would’ve grabbed chairs and started swinging at Evan right then and there.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about you. If we ran into each other somewhere else and I even looked your way, your ancestors would be celebrating for generations.

Just a few words from Evan made Gavin Guan’s face turn completely dark.

He clenched his fists tight, glaring at Evan Lin with pure hostility.

“Maybe we shouldn’t play, so nobody gets hurt.” Selina Shi was worried Evan Lin had gone too far and might piss off Gavin Guan, which would mean big trouble for Evan later.

“Yeah, if you don’t think you can do it, just forget it. I’ll pretend you never said anything.” Evan Lin said seriously, nodding as he pushed up his sunglasses.

That line nearly made Gavin blow a gasket.

His followers looked about ready to explode.

Liu Bai stayed silent, staring at Evan. He felt a weird sense of déjà vu, but couldn't for the life of him remember where they'd met.

Gavin Guan took a deep breath. In all his years, he’d never been humiliated like this. But a real man knows that losing his cool ruins bigger plans—Gavin knew this well.

After calming himself down, Gavin’s face returned to normal. He looked at Evan Lin and said, "You want me to bow and say something? You just want some face."

It’d be the ultimate humiliation—losing all your dignity in front of everyone.

Gavin Guan fought to keep his anger in check, his eyes cold as he stared at Evan Lin.

Hearing Gavin’s words, his group of rich second-gens all shut up at once. They knew Gavin was already furious—no point trying to talk him down.

Selina Shi sensed something was off and tried to stop things, but it was already too late.

Evan Lin nodded. "Fine by me. I’ll give you a little face and agree, just to humor you."

Evan Lin’s words made Gavin Guan’s eyelid twitch. Gavin slowly stood up from his seat, as if he’d made some kind of big decision, and quickly bowed to Evan.

"Is that good enough? Now I’ll announce the rules of the game!"

Gavin Guan finished bowing and was about to speak, but saw Evan Lin sitting there, waving his finger.

"Trying to play dirty now, huh?" Gavin’s face turned icy.

"Hell no, you can’t back out now!" The crowd’s faces all darkened.

"That bow was half-hearted. Plus, you forgot to say 'thank you for giving me face.'" Evan Lin smiled. "Of course, if that’s too much for you, I’ll just pretend I didn’t see anything."

"You—!" Gavin Guan gritted his teeth, bowed deeply again, and forced out, "Thank you for giving me face!"

Gavin was practically grinding his teeth—the words came out through clenched teeth.

A bunch of people who’d been happily gambling nearby noticed the commotion and started looking over—now all eyes were on them.

"Alright, I’ll give you some face." Evan Lin nodded.

That line nearly made Gavin Guan cough up blood.

His followers looked like they wanted to jump across the table and start something.

"Alright, now I’ll announce the rules." Gavin Guan sneered. "We’ll keep it simple—six dice, highest total wins."

"We’re here to have fun, and you don’t look like you have much money anyway, so let’s skip the cash. Whoever loses takes off a piece of clothing. Strip until you’re naked—if you lose again after that, you have to streak around the casino."

As soon as Gavin finished, Selina Shi’s face changed, and even Liu Bai and the others froze in shock.

This bet was way too much. Streaking in public—if someone lost everything, they'd be totally humiliated.

"We’re not playing this!" Selina Shi snapped, grabbing Evan Lin’s hand and trying to pull him up from the table.

This bet was way bigger than money—it was pure dignity. Selina had brought Evan to shield her, but if he lost badly, she’d feel terrible.

"Relax, it’s just for fun." Evan Lin shook his head. Selina didn’t manage to pull him up—instead, the rebound almost made her fall into his lap.

"Don’t worry, Selina, it’s just for laughs." Gavin Guan grinned.

The dignity Gavin had just lost—he was determined to win it all back right here.

Evan Lin was wearing four layers, while Gavin Guan had about three on.

"Alright then, let’s start." Gavin Guan nodded and reached out. The croupier handed him a dice cup and six dice without needing to be asked.

She handed Evan Lin a dice cup and six dice too.

"This round, whoever rolls bigger wins." Gavin Guan said, grabbing his cup and shaking it hard.

He twitched his ears, listening to the sounds inside the cup, judging the dice points by the way the dice knocked around.

He’d played this game a ton—he was totally confident.

Clatter-clatter.

The dice rattled around inside the cup.

Gavin Guan shook for over a minute, then with a bang, slammed the cup down on the table. A smug smile flashed across his face as he looked at Evan Lin. "Your turn!"

"Hurry up and shake! Young Master Gavin’s already done—why are you so slow?" someone jeered.

Evan Lin nodded slightly, while Selina Shi still looked worried.

Evan casually picked up the dice cup and gave his right hand a little shake.

Clatter.

There was a single rattle inside the cup, then with a bang, Evan slammed the cup down on the table.

"You’re done?" Selina Shi blinked, surprised. "You’re not going to shake a bit more?"

Selina worried Evan was overconfident—he’d picked up and put down the cup in barely a second.

How could you get anything decent in just one second?

Selina sighed inwardly, feeling helpless. She was already thinking about how to help Evan wriggle out of this bet.
