After a brief pause, Selena said, "I want you to help me find a sword. If you can find it, I'll give you a reward beyond your wildest dreams, and while you're traveling from Bastion City to the Royal Capital, I'll have people protect you."
Evan Chu stared suspiciously at this mysterious young woman. From her aura, he was sure she was from the Demon Race—and likely of very high status. A wild thought flashed through his mind: could she be the Demon King's daughter?
But he quickly dismissed that idea. If she were the Demon King's daughter, she'd be a millennia-old monster by now. That just didn't make sense.
"What sword do you want me to find for you? If I'm not mistaken, your Valorcrest Auctions was founded just to search for this sword, wasn't it? What I don't get is, why do you think I can find it?" Evan asked.
"It's just a woman's intuition. I can sense you're not ordinary—otherwise I wouldn't bother talking to you. The sword is actually an ancient divine weapon called the Frostbane Sword," Selena said slowly.
"Frostbane Sword? You want to find the Frostbane Sword?" Evan blurted out in shock.
"Do you know where it is? Or do you have any clues?" Selena asked nervously.
"No, I don't know. I'm just curious—why are you searching for the Frostbane Sword? I remember reading about it in an old text; it was supposedly the personal sword of the Lord of Frostbane." Evan replied, keeping his expression natural even as his heart raced.
He hadn't expected the Demon Realm to be searching for the Frostbane Sword. Was there some secret inside it? All Evan knew was that the Bloodshadow Berserker Lion once said the sword contained a set of incredibly powerful martial arts—could that be why she was after it?
He kept turning the question over in his mind. Just then, Selena said, "That's right, the Frostbane Sword was indeed the personal weapon of the Lord of Frostbane. But the Lord of Frostbane fell ten thousand years ago, and inside his sword is something that was sealed from a very important person."
"Oh, if I ever find any clue about the Frostbane Sword, I'll let you know right away. By the way, do you know what it looks like? Otherwise, even if it's right in front of me, I wouldn't recognize it," Evan said.
Inside, he was shocked. He hadn't expected the Frostbane Sword to have something like that sealed inside. No wonder it needs heaven-defying treasures like Heavenward Spirit Water and the Sacred Snow Lotus to unseal it. But what exactly is sealed inside? If it's a remnant soul of the Demon King, he'd be in way over his head.
"The Frostbane Sword looks very plain—almost like any ordinary spirit sword. But its blade should be covered in rust. If you temper it over fire for about fifteen minutes, you'll see the words 'Frostbane' appear on the blade," Selena explained.
"How do you know all that so clearly? If someone saw a sword like that, they'd just treat it as scrap metal. Who would use a broken sword anyway?" Evan retorted.
Selena's expression turned wistful. "Forget it. We've been searching for this sword for nearly a thousand years, so we're not in a rush. Do you know why I asked you to look for it? Because you look very much like a man I saw in a painting once. That's why I had this feeling," she sighed.
"Let's head back! I promise I'll keep today's meeting secret, and if I find any clue about the Frostbane Sword, I'll let you know. I also hope you'll keep my identity quiet—and please help deal with the Four Great Assassins." Evan said, getting ready to leave.
Staying with this demoness any longer made Evan feel more and more unsafe. He couldn't believe he was carrying something the Demon Race had been searching for a thousand years. If he got into trouble and couldn't use the Frostbane Sword, his strength would be crippled—and that would be even more dangerous.
"Maybe we can become friends. You're different from the rest!" Selena said, and in a flash, her figure was already in the sky. In the blink of an eye, she vanished, leaving Evan standing there alone.
"Damn! So that's the power of the Divine Martial Realm? That's terrifying. I have to get stronger, and I need to buy myself a new weapon. The Frostbane Sword can't be used recklessly anymore—if anyone finds out, I won't even know how I died," Evan muttered to himself.
"Evan, your luck is honestly scary—I'm almost jealous. Do you know what that aura was when Selena left?" Luna suddenly asked.
"What was that? Wasn't it just the aura of a Divine Martial Realm expert? Sister Moon, don't discourage me—one day I'll reach that realm too," Evan said, a bit speechless.
"That's not what I mean. The aura on that girl was actually very similar to the one on your Roxanne Lin. I didn't expect her to be a Demonic Yin Constitution—it's really surprising," Luna laughed.
"Demonic Yin Constitution? What's that?" Evan had never even heard the name before and couldn't figure out what Luna was talking about.
"The Demonic Yin Constitution is just as rare as the Profound Yin Constitution—one in ten thousand. Maybe she's the next woman you need to find. Only women like that can help you break through quickly and awaken your bloodline," Luna said.
"You want me and her? Come on, she's a Divine Martial Realm powerhouse! If I even thought about her that way, I'd probably die a hundred times over. And what if she's ugly? You really want me to end up with an ugly demoness?" Evan said, exasperated.
"That's not up to you. Pure Yang and Profound Yin, Demonic Yin, Saint Yin, Nether Yin—they're naturally drawn to each other. Even if you don't go looking for her, she'll come looking for you."
"Forget it. Her identity is way too special—a demoness, seriously? There's just no way. Let's drop it. But do you know what's actually sealed inside the Frostbane Sword?" Evan asked, knowing Luna was hiding plenty from him.
"I know, but now's not the time to tell you. You wouldn't gain anything from knowing right now," Luna replied bluntly, leaving Evan frustrated.
Evan stopped talking and gloomily returned to his inn room. Gavin Wade was eating alone, and when he saw Evan come in, he asked, "Where did you go? A lot of people came by today asking about you, but I managed to brush them off."
"Thanks for handling that. Tomorrow, come with me to the auction. For now, just eat and get a good night's sleep," Evan said, then flopped onto the bed.
"You still have the mood to go to an auction? Did you forget your bet with Yuwen Tianhai? If you don't get your Windfiend Colt back by tomorrow, you're in deep trouble," Gavin reminded him.
"Don't worry. If I'm right, the Windfiend Colt will be delivered before dawn. Just leave it to me," Evan said with a smile.
As soon as he finished, a thought struck him and he jumped up: "Crap! If the Windfiend Colt gets delivered here, the Four Great Assassins will definitely get suspicious. After all, I left riding it, and if they put two and two together, they'll figure out who I am."
"Gavin, get out of here, quick! The Windfiend Colt will definitely be delivered, but right after, even stronger people will show up. If we stay, our lives won't be worth a damn," Evan said urgently.
"What? What are you talking about..."
