The Eve of the Appointment

Evan Chu stormed back, furious. There was no doubt—that was Venerable Solus’s voice. Judging by his speed and the way he sent his message, this man’s strength was already far beyond Evan’s own.

If he really went to the Divine Battlefield as invited, it would be suicide. But if he refused, that old monster might actually do something unforgivable. Evan felt completely trapped.

Evan didn’t rush back to Frostbane Sect. Instead, he flew to a mountaintop near Frostbane Sect and sat there quietly. For the first time, he faced a problem he couldn’t solve—a feeling of helplessness that all came down to his strength being too weak, still stuck short of the Saint Martial Realm.

Originally, he’d planned to locate the Obsidian Tortoise Bloodline inheritor, open the Netherworld gate, and get the Netherghost Violet Orchid to rapidly boost his power. But now, with this mess, he’d have to put that plan on hold.

“Evan, going to the Divine Battlefield this time might not actually be dangerous. Venerable Solus definitely has something to discuss with you. If he really wanted you dead, he could’ve killed you back during that last Divine Battlefield war.” Sword Spirit Luna spoke up.

Evan frowned slightly and said, “Luna, you seem to know Venerable Solus really well. Can you tell me more about him?”

“Venerable Solus and I aren’t from this world. I’ve told you that before, right? If he wants to leave this world, he has to open a barrier leading elsewhere. But since he’s just a soul, he doesn’t have the strength to do it alone—he needs outside help to break through.

And you’re the only one in this world who can break that barrier. So do you really think he’d try to kill you? The problem is, with your current strength, breaking that barrier is basically impossible—even if you broke through to the Saint Martial Realm right now, it wouldn’t be enough.” Luna said honestly.

“Did you hear about him before, or maybe meet him? Otherwise, how could you know so much?” Evan pressed. Since Luna was a soul-type being and so was Venerable Solus, there had to be some connection or shared experience between them.

“Evan, just let things happen as they come. Don’t overthink it—I’m sure nothing bad will happen. Trust me. For now, focus on handling your sect’s affairs; don’t worry about anything else.” Luna advised.

Evan glanced at the distant sky and smiled. “Maybe I really am just overthinking things. If you say so, Luna, I’ll trust you. Thank you.”

After that, Evan returned to Frostbane Sect. The moment he arrived, everyone rushed up to greet him. “Sect Master Chu, did you catch that person? What did he say?” asked the Sacred Sword Sect Master.

“No, I didn’t catch him. His strength is unfathomable—maybe I’m not even his match. But don’t worry, as long as I’m here, no one will dare harm you. And the damage done to our allied sects, I’ll make sure they pay back double.” Evan declared.

“If you say his strength is unfathomable, then going to the Divine Battlefield now would be insanely dangerous. Evan, I really think you shouldn’t go. If he’s so powerful, why not just come here and wipe us out directly? Why lure you to some ancient, mysterious place?” Selena Yale chimed in.

“There are things you wouldn’t understand even if I explained. No one saw this sudden twist coming. For now, we need to focus on healing the injured disciples from every sect. As for rebuilding, that’ll have to wait. For now, everyone should settle down here at Frostbane Sect. Elder He will help divide up territory so each sect can manage its own affairs.” Evan said.

No one had any objections to Evan’s arrangements. After all, he was the Frostbane Sect Master, and just taking them in was already more than generous. Now, with territory and affairs handled, they were all deeply grateful.

The Freewind Palace Lord, Sacred Sword Sect Master, and Bloodfiend Hall Master all looked at Evan with new respect. “Sect Master Chu, we’ll never forget this favor. If you ever need us, we’ll charge through fire and water without hesitation!”

“Don’t be so formal. This only happened because I wasn’t here at Frostbane Sect—it’s really all my fault. I’m just lucky none of you blame me.” Evan said.

Then Evan went to the main hall, gave a few more instructions about sect matters, and formally introduced Roxanne Lin to everyone. He didn’t mention that she was the Phoenix Saint of the Scarlet Phoenix clan.

Roxanne saw Evan’s other women and didn’t say anything. At this point, talking more wouldn’t change anything—she figured it was better to get along peacefully from now on.

Selena Yale was the first to step up to Roxanne Lin and said, “Roxy, we’ve all heard about you. We know you’re Evan’s first fiancée, and we all agree you’ll be the ‘big sister’ among us. Even though I’m older, you were here first, so I won’t fight you for it.”

“You must be Selena, right? Evan’s told me about you too. You’re the Pavilion Master of Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion—he’s lucky to have you. As for being ‘big sister,’ let’s just forget it. I’d rather we all stand as equals, as long as everyone treats Evan well. I just hope there won’t be any jealousy or fighting—that’s my biggest wish.” Roxanne said with a smile.

Then Dream Princess Selena, Serena Dream, and Lynne Nie all came up to greet Roxanne too. In just a few minutes, the girls were chatting away like old friends, making Evan completely happy.

Over the next ten days or so, Evan spent happy times with his women. Lynn Chu and Dylan Chu also quickly grew close to him, clinging to their father all day and making him the happiest man alive.

At night, the rooms were filled with passionate sounds that kept everyone awake. Thanks to Evan’s special constitution, the sisters finally agreed to let two women accompany him at once—making him truly happy for a long time.

One day, a booming voice suddenly rang out over Frostbane Sect: “Sect Master Chu, an old friend of yours has something to give you. Please meet me in the forest three hundred li from here.”

The voice was so loud that almost everyone heard it. Evan could tell by instinct that the speaker was at least fourth-layer Saint Martial Realm—probably one of the Demon Generals.

He realized this must be the messenger with the method for entering the Divine Battlefield. Venerable Solus was dead set on meeting him—and for some reason, insisted it had to be at the Divine Battlefield.

Evan immediately left Frostbane Sect, using teleportation to fly away. No one tried to stop him, and honestly, no one could have.

When Evan arrived at the forest, he saw a masked, black-clothed figure wreathed in demonic energy quietly waiting for him... (Note: Tomorrow is Lunar New Year's Day, so updates may be uncertain—no midnight release tonight. Holiday break! If readers want to complain, go ahead!)
