Selecting Home Furnishings

1/4/2026

After she finished speaking, Cherry Miller seemed to realize something might be wrong and asked cautiously, "Is that okay?"

Ethan Yin chuckled and tapped Cherry Miller's cheek. "My mom already gave you Sunset Manor. You can do whatever you want with it—don't worry about what anyone else thinks."

"That's not right," Cherry shook her head. "I'm just the housekeeper."

"Be honest with yourself—does my mom really treat you like just a housekeeper?" Ethan Yin smiled. "Relax, even if you turn the place into a doghouse, we won't mind!"

Quentin Sheng stood off to the side, smiling.

The way our boss chases girls is always so unique.

"If the renovation budget isn't enough, just let me know. I'll have Quentin transfer you some money. Is fifty million enough?" Ethan Yin nodded at Quentin.

Quentin Sheng pulled out his phone and, without a word, transferred fifty million to Cherry Miller's account.

Cherry heard the notification of the transfer and quickly said, "No, no, that's not necessary! Madam already gave me two hundred million for renovations. That's plenty!"

"This fifty million is just for smart home devices," Ethan Yin said with a laugh. "Since it's for our benefit, it's money well spent."

Cherry Miller couldn't argue further.

After Ethan Yin and Cherry Miller's conversation, the smart home staff understood the situation.

These two are real big spenders!

This is a huge order!

The salespeople perked up and started pitching their products with renewed energy.

But Cherry Miller wasn't the type to get swept up by a little flattery.

She listened to their introductions, then asked to see the materials, carefully reviewed them, and fired off a few tough, technical questions—stumping several salespeople.

"Miss, would you like to check out our smart home products?" A bespectacled salesman approached eagerly. "Our products feature precision parts designed and assembled by German engineers—eighteen patented technologies..."

Cherry listened to his long-winded pitch, then asked, "Can I see your production certification and instruction manual?"

"Of course!" The man enthusiastically pulled out a stack of documents in German and started boasting, "Our products are top-notch and fully certified. Take a look..."

"Sorry, let me finish reading the manual first." Cherry Miller politely interrupted him, quickly flipping through the documents, but her brows furrowed as she read.

"If you have any questions, I can explain..."

"No need." Cherry stood up politely. "I've read enough. It doesn't really fit our requirements, but thank you for your time."

"Hey, girl, just admit you can't afford it! What's all this talk about 'not fitting your requirements'? It's just because you don't have the money, right? I've seen people pretend before, but never like this!" The bespectacled man, clearly frustrated, blurted out.

Ethan Yin's expression darkened.

He'd never seen anyone dare insult Cherry Miller like that.

Ethan Yin wouldn't stoop to argue with someone like that, but he nodded at Quentin Sheng.

Quentin picked up the manual from the table, glanced at the crowd, cleared his throat, and said, "Sir, it's bad enough you're selling fakes, but to be so brazen about it—aren't you afraid the original manufacturer will come after you?"

"What did you say?" The bespectacled man panicked. "Fake? We're a genuine German brand! You're just spreading rumors!"

Quentin laughed. "Our Ms. Miller was being polite when she said it didn't fit our requirements. But since you won't let it go and even started with personal attacks, I have to make things clear! Everyone, take a look at this manual—the eighteen international patents listed aren't owned by this company, but by a firm called Xinheng Biotech. If you don't believe me, call the patent office or check online! This company stole the patents and copied the technology. That's infringement!"

"You're lying! I'm not! How do we know if what you're saying is true? Can you even read what's written here?" The bespectacled man was flustered.

Quentin smiled. "Funny enough, I actually do understand German."

With that, Quentin read aloud a passage from the manual.

After reading, Quentin laughed again. "Definitely a fake! The German here is all mixed up and out of order—this isn't a real manual at all. Did you just use an online translator for this?"

The crowd burst out laughing.

The bespectacled man grew even more frantic, wiping the sweat from his face. "You guys are just here to cause trouble, aren't you? Which company are you from?"

Cherry Miller couldn't stand it anymore. She raised her hand and said, "I've already called to report you! If you're innocent, I'll cover your losses. But if you're really selling fakes and scamming people, how will you explain that?"

"You... you..." The young man was truly panicked now. He shoved through the crowd and ran out, abandoning his booth.

Ethan Yin watched the whole scene unfold and spoke calmly, "Let's all disperse."

Quentin Sheng immediately stepped forward and said, "We'll leave this matter to the organizers. We'll keep an eye on what happens next!"

With that, the three of them left under the wary gazes of the crowd.

After they left, people in the crowd started whispering, "Did you see that confidence? Real experts! He just rattled off German like it was nothing! The scammer got exposed by someone who actually knew their stuff!"

"I wonder which family he's from—maybe he's here to check out the market on purpose?"

"Hey, I overheard a bit just now. They're definitely rich—just casually handed over fifty million for smart home devices! That's some serious spending!"

After they'd walked a while, Cherry Miller finally spoke up. "I really didn't expect something like that to happen today."

"It's fine. There are all kinds of people in the world," Ethan Yin said casually. "We're here to have fun, not to get upset. Come on, there's more stuff to see up ahead."

Cherry finally managed a faint smile.

Even though there was some unpleasantness at the expo, Cherry Miller still managed to find some good stuff.

One of them was the company that made Sweetie.

When Cherry saw Sweetie come back to recharge, she couldn't resist going over to chat with it again.

Seeing how much Cherry liked Sweetie, Ethan let her place an order for one.

Cherry really did love it, so she happily paid the deposit and bought a little robot. She planned to put it in the lobby of Sunset Manor to help greet guests.

After that, Cherry picked out some other smart devices for the greenhouse and cold storage.

As for the ones for Ethan Yin's room, she wasn't satisfied and decided not to order for now.

Near the end of their visit, Cherry spotted a vendor in the corner selling setups for "Qu Shui Liu Shang," but nobody seemed interested.

Qu Shui Liu Shang is an ancient Chinese custom that evolved into a refined pastime for poets and scholars. On the third day of the third lunar month, people would gather by a stream, send cups of wine floating downstream, and whoever the cup stopped in front of would drink and compose poetry—a way to ward off misfortune. This tradition dates back to the early Western Zhou period and is considered a highly cultured activity.

But in modern times, hardly anyone does this anymore.

Either people don't have the leisure, or they lack the talent.

Most folks nowadays prefer eating and drinking over gathering to write poetry.

But that doesn't mean no one likes it.

Thinking of the young masters and ladies at home, Cherry Miller's interest was piqued.

"Interested in this?" Ethan Yin came over.

"Yeah," Cherry nodded. "We spend so much time at home, we need something fun to do. It's not expensive—might as well get one for everyone to try."

"Then let's buy it." Ethan nodded at Quentin, who immediately went to discuss models and prices with the vendor.

It had been a productive day, and Cherry was in a great mood.

"I'm going to the restroom," Cherry said, walking away with a spring in her step, leaving Ethan and Quentin waiting.

Soon after, footsteps approached from behind.

Ethan Yin smiled and said, "That was quick..."

Before he could finish, Ethan swallowed his words.

A woman with a 'social media influencer' look stood excitedly in front of him, her eyes greedy as she stared.

Ethan Yin frowned and turned away impatiently.

Since he didn't know her, he wasn't about to say anything.

But the influencer didn't seem to notice his dislike and eagerly approached. "Hi there, handsome! I'm Tian Mengmeng..."

"I'm not 'handsome,' and I don't care what your name is," Ethan cut her off coldly.

"Wow, what's your problem?" Tian Mengmeng was annoyed by the rejection. "If you keep this up, you'll end up single forever!"

Quentin Sheng nearly burst out laughing!

That was the funniest thing he'd ever heard!

Single forever?

Please!

Our boss's popularity is off the charts!

Just then, Cherry returned, glanced at Tian Mengmeng, then at Ethan's strikingly attractive face, and quickly figured out what was happening. She said, "Sorry for the delay. Let's head back now."

Ethan was about to nod when Tian Mengmeng suddenly screamed, "It's you!"

Cherry could only nod at Tian Mengmeng as a greeting.

"Hah!" Tian Mengmeng looked Cherry up and down and said sarcastically, "No wonder you turned down Tang De—you're aiming higher now!"

Cherry's face darkened. "Miss, I don't know you."

"Hey, handsome, isn't this woman a bit old for you? Sure you don't want to upgrade? I'm only seventeen—don't you want to reconsider?" Tian Mengmeng said proudly, puffing out her chest.
