Can't Leave Tonight

1/4/2026

At just twenty-three years old, Cherry Miller had already been labeled an 'old woman' by Tina Tian.

Even Ethan Yin, who was always calm and collected, couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Old? She's only twenty-three and you think that's old? Then I'm twenty-five, does that make me even older?"

"No, no! You're only eight years older than me—that's perfect!" Tina Tian quickly declared. "Men and women are different; women age faster!"

Cherry Miller was honestly at a loss for words.

Quentin Sheng couldn't hold back and said, "Maybe it's only people like Miss Tian who show their age? Someone like Ms. Miller, with a seven-figure salary and bonuses in the tens of thousands, plus company housing benefits, uses custom gene-based skincare. So, Miss Tian needn't worry. Even when Ms. Miller turns forty, she'll still look stunning!"

Are you kidding me?

The few of them had grown up together and shared a deep bond.

How could they tolerate a brainless internet celebrity with a plastic face attacking Cherry Miller like that?

"That's not all. Every single one of Ms. Miller's skincare expenses is covered by the company. Just her annual maintenance costs alone reach over a million, and all her clothes are custom-made and fully reimbursed. I doubt Miss Tian has ever experienced any of this, so she probably doesn't know," Quentin Sheng continued, not holding back. "Besides, Miss Tian, your outfit is all flashy, but if you look closely, it's last year's style. These brands have partnerships with us, and what we're wearing is this season's unreleased custom designs. We only put them on the market after we've worn them out. It's understandable that Miss Tian doesn't know much."

Cherry Miller gave Quentin Sheng a grateful smile.

After saying that, Tina Tian grew even more jealous of Cherry Miller.

Wait a minute.

Did he just say Yin Group?

Could it be that the man who's even more beautiful than a woman is an executive at Yin Group?

Tina Tian's eyes lit up instantly!

If she could get close to an executive at Yin Group, wouldn't that be even better than Tang De?

At this moment, Tina Tian was trapped by her narrow imagination. She didn't even dare to think that he was the president and future chairman of Yin Group; she thought just an executive was enough!

Besides, he's so good-looking—much better than Tang De!

At that moment, Tang De came looking for her: 'Where did you go? I've been searching everywhere!'

I... I just went to the restroom!" Tina Tian's eyes darted as she quickly took Tang De's arm. "Honey, I want to go to school too!

Wow, that's rare! Tang De laughed, looking at Tina Tian. "Didn't you drop out before finishing middle school? What made you think about going back to school?"

Nonsense, I finished middle school!" Tina Tian replied, feeling guilty.

Actually, her high school diploma was fake.

She had dropped out in eighth grade.

Even her middle school diploma was made up later.

Alright. Rare to see you motivated, I'll find you a night school or correspondence course to play with," Tang De said in a good mood.

No, no! I want to study abroad! I want to go to Pennsylvania!" Tina Tian looked at Tang De with an innocent and cute face, acting spoiled. "Or, Harvard would do!"

Tang De almost thought his ears were playing tricks on him!

What did he just hear?

Tina Tian wants to go to Pennsylvania? Or Harvard?

Why not apply to the Intergalactic Imperial University while you're at it?

Please?" Tina Tian kept acting spoiled. "You're so capable, it should be no problem for you, right?

Even I don't qualify for Pennsylvania or Harvard, and you still dare to dream!" Derek Tang was amused and annoyed.

I don't care, I don't care! Let me go!" Tina Tian kept acting spoiled. She probably thought these two top schools were just like the vocational school near her house—you could get in if you paid.

Tina Tian simply thought that if she studied abroad, she'd be qualified to stand beside that handsome man.

You're crazy!" Derek Tang lost patience, threw off Tina Tian's hand, and strode away.

A vase is just a vase—it'll never make it to the big stage!

Cherry Miller is much better!

She has both substance and style!

You're just stingy!" Tina Tian stomped her foot angrily.

The onlookers were all stunned by Tina Tian's way of thinking!

How dumb do you have to be to say something like that?

On the other side, Cherry Miller and the others were planning to head home, but unexpectedly, the weather changed and it looked like it was about to rain.

Traveling long distances late at night in the rain really isn't a smart idea.

So, they had to stay one more night at the hotel.

Before they got to the hotel, Quentin Sheng got a call. After hanging up, he looked at Ethan Yin with a conflicted expression.

"Something happened?" Ethan Yin asked with a faint smile.

"No, it's a personal matter," Quentin Sheng replied. "Ethan, I'd like to take a leave. A classmate of mine, who's local, is getting married tomorrow. We're pretty close—both alumni of our aristocratic academy. He just invited me to a party tonight to celebrate."

"That's great!" Ethan Yin said with a smile. "Since he's also from our academy, take a gift for me when you go."

'But that means I can't stay at the hotel with you tonight.' Quentin Sheng glanced at Cherry Miller, pretending it was unintentional.

'It's fine! You still have me, right? I've been drafted by Ethan before, I can cover your work for now. A wedding is a big deal—it's a shame if a good friend can't go! Go ahead, Ethan's got me.' Cherry Miller said quickly.

Quentin Sheng seemed relieved. "Thank you so much!"

'No need to be so formal, we've known each other for years.' Cherry Miller smiled. 'Take a gift for me too, even though we're not in the same class, we're still alumni!'

Okay.' Quentin Sheng felt reassured.

'Be safe.' Ethan Yin reminded.

Yes.' Quentin Sheng left happily.

Now only Cherry Miller and Ethan Yin were left.

It wasn't until she got back to the room that Cherry Miller realized this.

Uh... this is a bit tricky!

'Where do you want to eat tonight, Ethan?' Cherry Miller, having taken over Quentin's work, quickly slipped into the assistant role. After all, she'd been chief assistant for years and was very skilled.

'Let's eat in the room.' Ethan Yin looked at the weather and said, 'With weather like this, there's nothing good outside.'

Okay.' Cherry Miller promptly ordered room service.

She knew Ethan Yin's tastes so well, she didn't even need to ask—she just ordered for him.

'Um... since it's just us, why don't you eat with me?' Ethan Yin said. 'I can't eat much alone anyway.'

Cherry Miller hesitated, then nodded. "Okay."

Since she agreed to help Quentin, she couldn't back out halfway.

She kind of regretted agreeing so quickly!

With Quentin there, she and Ethan Yin kept things professional. But without him, being alone with Ethan felt more like a date.

And it was a date in a hotel room, no less.

But Ethan Yin didn't show it. Maybe not?

Probably not!

Soon, the food Cherry Miller ordered was delivered to the room by the chef.

Cherry Miller skillfully set the dinner on the table, but Ethan Yin grabbed the last two dishes and put them on the table himself.

Sit down, I'll do the rest.' Ethan Yin didn't act like a young master at all—he spoke to Cherry Miller like an ordinary friend. 'It's just us tonight, no need to make it complicated.'

Okay.' Cherry Miller obediently sat down across from him and opened a bottle of light champagne.

With such a great chance to be alone, Ethan Yin wouldn't let it slip by easily.

Ethan Yin picked up a piece of crispy rib and placed it in front of Cherry Miller. "You always remember my tastes—you know I only eat these veal chops."

Of course I remember.' Cherry Miller paused, pretending not to care. 'After all, I've worked for the Yin family for so many years. I have to remember the tastes of all the young masters and ladies. It's basic homework for a chief assistant.'

I'm curious, what have you been busy with abroad these past few years?' Ethan Yin asked. 'So busy you couldn't see me or reply to my messages?'

Cherry Miller smiled bitterly to herself.

Here it comes.

He finally asked.

Cherry Miller chose her words carefully. "Just busy with schoolwork."

But as far as I know, your coursework was pretty easy—not enough to keep you that busy.' Ethan Yin exposed her lie.
