Evan Yang stood in the garden, watching Terry Yang’s every move, thinking about how to deal with him. After all, Terry had a protective shield—something Evan couldn’t break through for now—so he could only plan to use other methods.
He had no idea the threat was approaching. As for Terry’s cultivation practice on the other side, it looked serious—flames here, flames there—but none of it mattered to Evan.
Just as Evan continued pondering, Terry suddenly unleashed an attack toward Evan’s location, and the flames grew massive. This sudden offensive was far stronger than his earlier practice.
At that moment, Evan realized he’d been exposed. A wave of cold air rose from within him, and when the flames reached him, they did no harm.
But now Evan was fully visible. Terry looked at him—the person he’d seen in the void—and snorted, “Who are you, really? Why are you following me?”
“How did you spot me?” Evan asked curiously.
“I know you can turn invisible, so I used another method. But I won’t tell you what it is. Since you’re here today, don’t even think about leaving—just confess everything honestly.” Terry, having bottled up his anger for days, finally let it out with a cold snort.
“Looks like I underestimated you,” Evan said with a smile, feeling no pressure despite facing an Emperor.
Terry saw Evan speaking so calmly and snorted, “Kid, stop pretending. The moment I attacked, the mansion’s formation activated. That escape speed you showed in the void won’t work here.”
“Is that so?” Evan glanced around—the formation had indeed activated. If he tried to use his speed, he couldn’t escape. But he didn’t panic; instead, he countered with a question.
“You’re calm now, but soon you won’t be so calm.” Terry said with a cold smile.
“No need for nonsense. Do you want to know my identity?” Evan replied with a smile.
“Of course,” Terry said.
“Then trade something of yours for it. I’ll tell you,” Evan smiled.
“Trade? Kid, are you joking? Right now you’re trapped here. I’m an Emperor, life and death are in my hands!” Terry found Evan’s words laughable.
“Is that so? If I hide and then find a way to break the formation and leave, could you still find me?” Evan smiled and asked.
“Rescue you? Don’t make me laugh.” Terry said, not believing it.
“I don’t know what method you used to spot me, but I want to see if, after I turn invisible again, you can still find me.” Evan smiled, then went invisible and moved elsewhere.
Terry was shocked. “Trying to escape? No way!” He followed the direction indicated by the glowing treasure, tracking Evan.
Evan realized Terry could indeed track him, actually following him. But what puzzled Evan was that Terry’s speed was very slow. Logically, as an Emperor, Terry could easily block Evan’s path, but he didn’t.
Actually, Terry was puzzled. The treasure could only show a direction, not calculate distance. If it could, he’d just blink over and block Evan’s path. Luckily, the outer formation was activated, so Evan couldn’t leave for now and could only move around inside the mansion.
Evan kept circling around, unable to shake Terry. Frustrated, he kept running and thought about finding a place to break the formation. Still, Evan tried to negotiate: “Terry, you tell me, and I’ll tell you my identity. Otherwise, you’ll never find me.” “Don’t get cocky!” Terry snapped, annoyed.
“Looks like you won’t rest until you catch me!” Evan said.
“Obviously! I want to catch you and force you to reveal your identity—and what your connection is to Evan Yang.” Terry snorted.
Evan heard Terry’s words and chuckled inwardly. It wasn’t easy to toy with him like this. If not for needing that token, Evan wouldn’t bother with this chase.
Meanwhile, the mansion guards only saw Terry chasing something—they had no idea Evan existed, while Evan moved about freely.
Evan soon spotted something like a temple ahead, and the area was eerily quiet. “A temple? Why is there a temple here?”
Just as he considered turning back, Evan seemed to bump into something and rushed forward, then realized he’d become visible.
“Not good, there’s a formation here. I was careless.” Evan was startled, realizing he’d triggered a formation and was now exposed.
Terry stopped outside, looked at Evan inside, and said, “Kid, now you really can’t escape.”
“Why would you set up a formation here? Did you know I’d come?” Evan was confused. In such a huge estate, why have a strange temple surrounded by a formation? It made Evan curious.
“I didn’t set this one up. You’re just unlucky—you entered my aunt’s domain.” Terry laughed.
“Aunt? Evan was puzzled. What kind of place was this? But Terry’s aunt was the current Yang Clan Patriarch’s daughter.” Evan wondered.
Just then, the temple door opened. Evan realized breaking this formation wouldn’t be easy, so he watched the temple closely, alert.
A woman walked out. She was very young and beautiful—if Terry hadn’t said she was his aunt, Evan would have thought she was about his age.
“What are you two doing here?” The woman looked at Evan, then at Terry, and asked.
Terry was delighted. “Aunt, he wants to kill me—he’s my enemy! Help me catch him and hand him over to me.” If not for the formation, Terry would have rushed in, but now he was praying his aunt would help.
The woman looked at Evan. At first she didn’t notice anything, just asked, “Why do you want to kill my Terry?”
“Kill him? That’s not my intention. I do want to borrow something from him, though.” Evan replied.
“He’s lying, Aunt! He really wants to kill me. He followed me all the way from outside to the Yang Clan—he must be captured!” Terry insisted.
(This section is not part of the main story and can be skipped.)
“Terry, you went outside?” the woman asked.
“Yeah, I went not long ago,” Terry replied.
The woman nodded in understanding, then said to Evan, “Trespassing in the Yang Clan is a capital offense. Entering my domain is also crossing my bottom line. End yourself.”
Evan could tell the woman didn’t seem angry, nor could he read her emotions. She only looked sad, but didn’t show it openly. Yet her words sounded like an order.
“What are you staring at? Didn’t you hear her?” Terry shouted.
Evan snapped out of it, glared at Terry, and snorted, “You want me to kill myself? Dream on! Worst case, I’ll fight you all!”
Then Evan’s determined gaze and death-or-glory attitude showed as he calculated how to use his Strange Spiral Shell to escape.
The moment Evan showed that look, the woman was stunned. She muttered in disbelief, “How could he look so much like him?”
Neither Evan nor Terry understood what the woman meant, but Terry kept pressing Evan to kill himself.
Evan prepared for battle. The woman kept looking at him, and after several glances, she thought his appearance was somewhat familiar. Curious, she asked, “Who are you? What’s your name? Why are you here?”
“Aunt, I already asked—he won’t say.” Terry said.
Evan sensed the woman was interested in him and maybe he could get the key, so he said, “My name is Mu Yi. I came here because I want to go somewhere, but I don’t have a token. I hoped to borrow one from Lord Yang.”
After hearing Evan’s words, Terry snorted, “You want to go somewhere? Need a token? What kind of place is that? Stop making excuses!”
The woman looked at Evan. “Where do you want to go?”
“I want to go to the Star Sea,” Evan replied.
The words ‘Star Sea’ startled both Terry and the woman. Terry laughed, “Star Sea? You’re dreaming! Only Yang Clan members can enter. Anyone else is doomed! Even with a token, you’re dreaming.”
Evan was surprised. “Why only Yang Clan members?”
“Because the Star Sea was created by generations of Yang Clan masters. To enter, you need Yang bloodline. Otherwise, you’ll be torn apart by the special attacks inside!" Terry sneered.
Hearing about special attacks, Evan thought of his Strange Spiral Shell and wondered what abilities could break through the fused tower. Plus, the shell could revive him, so at worst, he’d die and come back. “I don’t believe it. Maybe those people just weren’t strong enough. I’ll be fine.” Evan said.
The woman listened to Evan and felt something indescribable, then asked, “Why do you want to go to the Star Sea?”
“Why else? He must be drawn by our Star Sea—everyone dreams of cultivating there. It’s a paradise unlike anything outside.” Terry laughed, thinking of the boring days inside.
Evan listened to Terry and realized the Star Sea had another meaning. The woman, however, shouted at Terry, “Shut up!”
Terry didn’t expect his aunt to scold him in front of an outsider. He felt frustrated, not knowing what he’d done to upset her. In his eyes, his aunt was always quiet, only interested in this place—which was why she built the temple and set up the formation to keep others away.
Anyone who approached would be punished, so Terry had suffered plenty. He always thought his aunt was a bit odd, and now, being scolded, he protested, “Aunt, he wants to kill me—why are you helping an outsider?”
“Didn’t you understand what I said?” the woman frowned.
