Jealousy Over a Little Immortal
After harvesting the grass beneath the Nine-bend Nether River, the two of them went to the valley Lily Bai had visited before, set up an array, caught a dozen Demon Bugs, and returned to Drake Abyss.
Adrian Drake still couldn’t figure out why she wanted the Demon Bugs.
Lily Bai just told him to watch.
First, she placed the Demon Bugs together with a bunch of hollow, oversized pearls.
They sat together for days, but not a single bug tried to burrow into the pearls.
Then she had Marching Wing Guard tie up the Demon Bugs with his tail silk and bring them close to Sean Shaw.
As a result, every single bug tried to attack him.
“See anything interesting?” Lily Bai asked Adrian.
Adrian thought for a moment and said, “You mean... it wasn’t a coincidence, but a setup?”
Lily Bai nodded. “The Demon Bug’s ancestor is a natural enemy of the Giant Salamander. The Crown Prince has half Giant Salamander blood, so whenever a Demon Bug sees him, it will definitely attack!”
“Makes sense! If Demon Bugs don’t actively burrow into pearls, then someone must have put it inside.” Adrian said, “I bet even the fact that I picked up those two pearls was part of someone’s plan.”
Lily Bai nodded.
“Who was it?” Adrian’s face turned murderous. “That’s one hell of a scheme!”
Lily Bai didn’t answer.
“Should we ask the Sigil Sect to do a divination?” Adrian said. “Maybe they could point us in the right direction!”
Lily Bai shook her head. “Who else could it be? I don’t need them to divine it—I already know.”
“Then who is it?”
Lily Bai thought for a moment, then said, “Ezra Cloud, go fetch Princess Quinn Xiao.”
Ezra Cloud pouted. “I’m not going!”
Lily Bai sighed helplessly. “Fine, Chacha can go instead!”
“Okay.” Chacha went off.
Sean Shaw turned a cold gaze on Ezra Cloud. “You dare defy the Crown Princess’s orders?”
Pouting at her—who’s he trying to act cute for?
Ezra Cloud said, “That princess loves snatching people’s things! I don’t want to see her.”
“Does what you want even matter?” Sean looked about ready to explode.
Lily Bai quickly intervened, “Enough, enough. Ezra, go on back. I don’t need you here right now.”
Ezra Cloud looked aggrieved. “Crown Princess, are you dissatisfied with me?”
“No, you’re just fine,” Lily Bai said.
“I’m your Divine Attendant, but you never let me serve at your side,” Ezra Cloud said. “Is Chacha better at serving you than me?”
Lily Bai: “No! You’re overthinking it. You’re both good! You’re both good! Each of you has your strengths.”
“Then—”
“When I tell you to leave, you leave. Why so much nonsense?” Sean Shaw said. “Do you believe I’ll kick you out of the Celestial Palace?”
Ezra Cloud’s eyes reddened. “Why? Crown Princess, why?”
Lily Bai, exasperated, said, “Don’t ask why. Go check on the twins! They might be awake.”
Only then did Ezra Cloud leave.
Lily Bai turned to Sean Shaw. “Why is a mighty Crown Prince picking on a little immortal attendant?”
Sean Shaw kept his face cold. “Why do you always spoil him? Did you see the way he talks to you?”
Lily Bai sighed. “...Sean! Can you stop being jealous over everything? If another man looks at me, you get jealous. If someone talks to me, you get jealous! Now you’re even jealous of a Divine Attendant—aren’t you tired of being so sour?”
Sean Shaw looked at her. “If I can look at you more, I won’t feel sour.”
Adrian Drake, who’d been ignored this whole time, coughed a few times. “Hey, you two—if you don’t stop, I’m going to die of jealousy first! Can’t you wait till I leave to argue?”
Sean Shaw glanced at him. “Why are you still here?”
Adrian: “Damn!”
