Fae Spirits Revealed

12/2/2025

As Jack Jiang turned and left, Yvette Liu immediately whispered to Sylvia Snow, "Oh! Oh! Snow, you really didn't give Jack Jiang any face! He looks pretty pissed off!"

"Hmph! Someone like him—I have no intention of giving him any face!" Sylvia Snow replied coldly.

"But he's pretty tight with this club, you know? I heard he owns shares here, and he was the one who booked the VIP room for my birthday. It wouldn't be good to get on his bad side," Yvette Liu said, a bit worried.

"Mm, we'll be careful. Anyway, we're here to celebrate your birthday. As long as we don't mess with him, we'll be fine," Sylvia Snow said.

Shawn Young could sense Jack Jiang's hostility toward him, but he still hadn't figured out the complicated relationships here. He glanced up and saw Jack Jiang already at the entrance of Imperial Night Karaoke, beckoning to a group of young men and women nearby. One of the boys quickly hurried over, looking very respectful. Jack Jiang whispered a few words to him, and the boy nodded, heading straight into Imperial Night Karaoke.

Shawn Young's curiosity was piqued, so he asked Sylvia Snow, "Snow, what's Jack Jiang's story? He seems pretty full of himself!"

Before Sylvia Snow could answer, Yvette Liu blurted out, "Hehe, Jack Jiang is the only son of the deputy secretary of the city committee—one of Nanning City's 'Three Young Masters.' He's pretty famous among us young people, and with his connections, both sides of the law give him face. Honestly, tonight, except for Snow and me, everyone else here is basically following his lead! He's been chasing after Snow for ages—"

"Ugh—like I'd ever go for him! That guy's all show on the surface, but who knows how many women he's messed around with behind the scenes. He's rotten to the core!" Sylvia Snow spat lightly.

"Oh! But with his personality, you should watch out—he might try to set you and Shawn up!" Yvette Liu warned.

"Hmph, I'm not scared of him! If he tries anything, Shawn will protect me! Right, Shawn?" Sylvia Snow hooked Shawn Young's arm, asking coquettishly.

"Oh! Oh! Right!" Shawn Young was speechless for a moment—he hadn't expected to get tangled up with a rich kid just like that. But since he was here, he figured he'd just go with the flow. Now that he was officially Sylvia Snow's "boyfriend," he had to step up and take responsibility.

"Well, I'm on Snow's side, and since it's my birthday, I can't let you guys get the short end of the stick. Come on, let's go in together!" Yvette Liu said, naturally hooking Shawn Young's other arm. Sylvia Snow didn't object, so the two girls cozily linked arms with Shawn, flanking him as they boldly walked over to the group of young men and women.

"Wow! Miss Snow and Miss Liu are sharing a guy—who is that kid, anyway? He's sure got some luck with the ladies!" The group of young men and women erupted in surprise at the sight.

"Come on, don't be so shocked! Never seen a threesome before? What's the big deal? Let's go party!" Yvette Liu waved at the crowd. Most of these kids were rich or had powerful parents, so they weren't exactly new to this kind of scene. After a brief moment of surprise, everyone shrugged it off and headed into Imperial Night Karaoke together.

Imperial Night Karaoke was spacious, with pulsing DJ music and dim lighting. The decor was lavish and European in style, with a huge dance floor at the center. The bar formed a semicircle at the back, and private booths were separated by pink and blue curtains. Around the stage, bar, and booths, hundreds of tables for couples or groups were scattered throughout the circular space.

It was only about 8 p.m.—not yet peak hours for the club. But since Imperial Night Karaoke was in a prime downtown spot and super popular, plus it was the weekend, the dance floor was already packed with people.

Neon lights flashed as all sorts of sultry girls danced wildly to the pounding disco music. Their pale bodies shimmered under the swaying lights, long hair whipping through the air. Guys on the prowl gathered around the girls, grinding and teasing with flirtatious moves. In no time, the whole bar was thick with a steamy, flirtatious vibe.

It was Shawn Young's first time in a place like this. Watching the crowd twist and writhe to the deafening music, he felt a bit out of his element. But then he noticed something strange—as soon as he entered Imperial Night Karaoke, the whole atmosphere seemed to shift. There was a weird vibe in the air, and Shawn couldn't help but look around again. Sure enough, the place was filled with an odd energy.

Startled, Shawn wondered if he was imagining things. He quickly channeled his Celestial Essence into his eyes, focusing his gaze. What he saw left him stunned—he could see that everyone dancing, including the staff, had a sinister aura. The Triple Spirit Flame on their heads and shoulders was especially dim, and Shawn could see wisps of pale white life energy swirling out of their bodies, rising and gathering in midair, then drifting toward a fire exit in the southeast corner of the club.

Everyone has a Triple Spirit Flame on their head and shoulders, but regular people can't see it—only those who've awakened the Sixth Sense, also known as the 'Heavenly Eye,' can. A rare few are born with the Heavenly Eye and can see things others can't, while cultivators can develop it through training.

The color of the Triple Spirit Flame changes with a person's environment and fate. Normally healthy people have bright yellow flames, but if someone is plagued by illness, their flame shifts to different colors. And if someone who's usually healthy suddenly has a streak of bad luck, both their flame and their face will show a strange aura.

"Ah! That—those are Fae Spirits devouring people's vital energy!" Shawn Young recalled a passage from the Codex of Ascension about Fae Spirits—ethereal beings invisible to ordinary eyes, existing in many forms and states. Only cultivators who've unlocked the Sixth Sense can sense their presence.

At that moment, the Triple Spirit Flame on everyone in Imperial Night Karaoke was being drained by a strange force, making it look extra dim. But they were just regular people, completely unaware that their vital energy was being absorbed.

According to the Codex of Ascension, Daoist cultivation divides realms into Nine Senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch are the five senses everyone has. The so-called Sixth Sense is consciousness. In most people, only a tiny part of their consciousness is developed; the rest can only be unlocked through cultivation. Once developed, consciousness becomes far more sensitive and responsive than normal. Unlocking the Sixth Sense is just the beginning of mystical power; beyond it are the Spirit Sense, Divine Sense, and the Daoist supreme realm of Unity of Heaven and Man. Reaching Unity of Heaven and Man means stepping into the realm of immortals!

After Shawn Young took the Divine Remedy, his Sixth Sense was instantly awakened, and he began cultivating his Spirit Sense! At this level, he could channel his inner energy and cast spells and talismans. The deeper his cultivation, the stronger his Spirit Sense. With further progress, he could break through to Divine Sense—at that point, he'd be able to summon wind and rain with a wave of his hand, practically a demigod! But for most cultivators, reaching Spirit Sense is already rare, and advancing to Divine Sense is even rarer. Besides talent, you need a stroke of fate! Most cultivators spend their whole lives trying, but never reach that level.
