A Gift from Grandma

Cecilia Gu looked shocked. "Why didn't anyone tell me?"

Mrs. Yun chuckled softly. "It was your grandmother's instruction—no one was allowed to tell you. She said she knows you blame her, but she still doesn't regret her choice back then. Because this is your fate, and you'll understand it sooner or later."

Cecilia was momentarily speechless.

Now, she truly understood.

She finally understood why her fate was so cursed and doomed—it was because the bloodline Zara Yun carried was so intense.

Indeed, back then, her actions had their reasons.

But there were many things that couldn't be explained too clearly. She could only act stubbornly, risking blame and resentment from her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, all for the sake of the Yun Family.

Before, Cecilia truly didn't understand, but now, what was left that she couldn't accept?

It really was fate.

"Mom, I understand now. I'll accept all of this." Cecilia said softly. "Doesn't our Yun Family have medicine? Why can't it keep her alive?"

"Your grandmother doesn't want to take any medicine. She says, 'Life and death are destined, wealth is granted by heaven.' She also said that being able to see the Yun Family thrive in your hands means she can die without regrets." Mrs. Yun's face clouded with sorrow as she continued, "With the Yin Family's support and the Mo Family's gratitude, the Yun Family's rise is just around the corner. If she were to pass away now, she could rest in peace."

Cecilia Gu opened her mouth, at a loss for words.

Mrs. Yun went on, "I've brought Jane Gu back from overseas too. How could she miss your twenty-eighth birthday?"

Cecilia nodded emphatically.

"Mom, let's... invite Grandma too," Cecilia said softly. "We're family, aren't we? There's no point in holding grudges. What Grandma did back then was for my own good, for the good of our family. And look at me now—I'm fine, aren't I? All those nightmares are behind us, and we'll all be okay. The Yun Family is famous for our pharmaceutical skills, but if we can't even save our own, how can we claim to be world-class? Please talk to Grandma, ask her to take the medicine."

Mrs. Yun's eyes grew red at Cecilia's words. "Alright, I understand. You just rest at home for the next few days. The Mo Family will send someone to celebrate your birthday, too. You decide on the guest list. I hear you're helping the Yin Family's second young master find a suitable wife—this party is a good chance. You haven't mingled much with the local elite, so use this opportunity to build connections and pick a few you like. After all, she'll be your sister-in-law, and no one can bypass you as the eldest. Your mother-in-law's in South America now, divorced from your father-in-law, and the old lady of the Yin Family is too old to manage things. You're the mistress of the Yin Family now, so make sure no one can find fault with you."

Mrs. Yun kept rambling on about all these things, and Cecilia listened with a smile.

People say mothers love to nag once they have kids, but Cecilia genuinely enjoyed listening to her mom's chatter.

Now that she was a mother herself, Cecilia truly understood how much love was hidden in her mother's words.

You only really understand your parents' love after raising a child yourself—and Cecilia understood this better than anyone.
