The Selfish Second Persona

1/4/2026

"So, even if we find the person who hypnotized you, you still won't cooperate with us." Ethan Yin nodded and said, "That's where I miscalculated. I thought even your Second Persona would have a shadow of the Primary Persona, that you wouldn't be so selfish. I put too much faith in Miles Gu. Compared to your Primary Persona, your Second Persona is really far behind."

Hearing Ethan Yin's blunt assessment, Miles Gu's Second Persona instantly became angry and retorted, "Even if you all prefer the Primary Persona, it doesn't matter. The one using this body now is me."

"You're right. We can't do anything to you. Even after all the outrageous things you've done, aside from my dad punching you once, my mom was so angry but couldn't even bring herself to lay a finger on you." Ethan Yin nodded calmly, "All of us brothers wanted to beat you up for bullying Yina, but because of your face, we all chose to hold back. On that point, you win. We really can't do anything about you."

Miles Gu felt a bit smug inside, but the feeling was hollow.

Wasn't he just relying on the privileges left behind by the Primary Persona to do as he pleased?

"Even though we can't do anything to you, we can choose to ignore you." Ethan Yin picked up a pastry and slowly ate it, looking completely unhurried. "Once you lose the Yin Family, you'll realize that just relying on those lunatics from the Field Family won't get you anywhere. After all, the Duke is still alive, and your father, Earl Field, is alive too. The Field Family's power is nowhere near yours yet. Honestly, I don't even want to call you Miles Gu, because you don't deserve it. That name was given by my mom to the Primary Persona, not you."

"So, are we really tearing things apart now?" Miles Gu asked.

"Not really." Ethan Yin sipped his tea and said, "We're just being honest. If things really fall apart, it'll be a fight to the death. You should thank the Primary Persona—if it weren't for him, I wouldn't bother wasting so many words on you."

"Got it." Seeing Ethan Yin signal for him to leave, Miles Gu didn't argue further. He stood up and said, "But I still have to say, I won't give up easily. I'll make sure Yina Yin falls in love with my Second Persona."

"Fine, I'll be waiting." Ethan Yin was confident in his sister.

Over Ethan Yin's dead body would Yina Yin ever fall for Miles Gu's Second Persona.

Unless she completely lost her mind.

After sending Miles Gu away, Ethan Yin's expression finally turned serious.

Things were more serious than he thought.

Now that Miles Gu knew about the Primary and Second Personas, the plan to trick him into hypnosis and switch back to the Primary Persona probably wouldn't work anymore.

Damn it!

How did he find out about this?

Why did those idiots in the Field Family reveal the secret early?

Ethan Yin dialed a number: "Sharon Yun, the plan has changed. Catch those people, don't waste time talking—just get the medium and method for hypnosis out of them."

"Bro, did something happen over there?" Sharon Yun asked, "Did Miles Gu find out?"

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone at the table turned to look.

Even Ethan Yin, whose nerves are as thick as lightning, sensed something was off.

"Miles, what's up with this confusing behavior?" Ethan Yin asked quietly.

"You ask me? Who should I ask?" Jing Shaohuai glared at him. "If you hadn't exposed us yesterday, maybe I'd know."

Jing Shaohuai was still annoyed about failing to eavesdrop yesterday.

"It was an accident," Ethan Yin said sheepishly, touching his face.

Leo Mo whispered, "Miles's Second Persona is really impatient for results."

"You noticed too," Theo Mo said, glancing at Miles before continuing to eat, his voice low enough for only a few to hear.

The table was so long, Miles couldn't hear them anyway.

"Even Ethan Yin, who's usually oblivious, noticed something was off," Leo Mo continued. "Look, Elisa hasn't shown up again this morning. As his fiancée, she sure doesn't appear often."

"Looks like Elisa's been dumped," Theo Mo said with a laugh. "Some people just aren't meant for the spotlight. Even the Second Persona can tell good from bad. With how talented Yina is, it's no wonder he's attracted to her. The talent Yina's shown these past two days is way beyond what Elisa could ever match."

"True," Leo Mo said, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "Do you think Yina will agree?"

"I don't think so," Theo Mo replied confidently.

Sure enough, the next moment, Yina put down her knife and fork, smiling at Miles. "Sorry, I haven't been enjoying food from outside lately."

Just then, Cherry Miller came in from outside, holding several tickets. She smiled, "The security guard just brought these tickets for King Yu's concert. Gavin Gao is his guest and will be singing a duet with him. Gavin had someone send the tickets over. If anyone wants to go, come get a ticket from me."

"Me! Me!" Ethan Yin, always up for excitement, raised his hand. "Cherry, save one for me."

"Okay." Cherry Miller nodded. "I'll save you one."

"I'll go too," Yina said. "I have nothing else to do today."

"Alright," Cherry Miller said with a meaningful smile.

Her real goal was to get Yina to go.

She didn't want Miles's Second Persona to have any chance to get close to Yina.

Fishing is only fun when you use a straight hook.

If you're willing, you'll take the bait.

Miles, how does it feel to be hooked?

"I'll go too," Jing Shaohuai said, raising his hand after a quick thought.

"No way, you need to stay home and farm," Cherry Miller refused flatly.

Jing Shaohuai sighed, "My dear sister, give me a break! Even prisoners get yard time!"

Cherry Miller pretended to consider, but seeing Jing Shaohuai begging, she relented. "Alright, since you've been so well-behaved lately, I'll give you some free time and a ticket."

"Thanks, sis!" Jing Shaohuai happily took a ticket from Cherry Miller.

Leo and Theo Mo said, "We won't go. We're meeting friends to play games and tackle an important dungeon today."

"Alright, you two hold down the fort," Cherry Miller nodded. "Make your own lunch."

Mu Ziyue raised his hand. "I'll stay home. I'm not interested in the concert."

"Me... I'll go too," Sam Shang said, glancing at Sherry Yuan in the distance.

Actually, he wasn't interested in the concert.

But wherever Yina went, Sherry Yuan would go.

Even if he couldn't talk much with Sherry Yuan, just being near her and seeing her from afar made him feel much better.

"Alright, one ticket for Xiaojin," Cherry Miller quickly arranged.

Miles saw Yina going to the concert for Gavin Gao and felt sour inside. "It's not even Gavin's concert, do you all have to be so supportive?"

Jing Shaohuai said in surprise, "We're just going to see the show. It just happens that Gavin Gao is one of the performers. Miles, you were never this petty before."

Miles blushed.

Of course the Primary Persona wasn't this petty!

But he's not the Primary Persona, he's the Second Persona!

He's a completely different person!

"I was just joking with you all," Miles said awkwardly.

"Oh, what a coincidence, I was joking with you too!" Jing Shaohuai laughed. "You don't mind, do you, Miles?"
