Evan Chu glanced at the Golden Dragon Grand Elder and said, "You might not even be qualified. If you really want to die, I can oblige you. Do you seriously think your spatial domain works on me?"
"Kid, you really don’t know your place. Since you’re so confident, let me show you the true power of this old man!" The Golden Dragon Grand Elder was furious—being belittled by a 'mongrel dragon' with human blood in front of everyone was intolerable for someone of his status.
The Golden Dragon Shrine Master glanced at the Grand Elder and said, "Grand Elder, you’re not his match. I think you shouldn’t fight him. This kid is a monster—his strength is terrifying. Did you see the wound on his chest? Moments ago it was bone-deep, but now it’s completely healed. I’ve never seen such recovery before."
"Shrine Master, you don’t need to worry about this. I have my ways to deal with him. No matter how strong he is, he’s just Sixth-Layer Venerable. I refuse to believe my Seventh-Layer Venerable strength can’t beat him. Besides, he insulted me in front of everyone—I can’t swallow that!" the Golden Dragon Grand Elder insisted, pride burning in his eyes.
The Golden Dragon Shrine Master was about to say more, but Evan Chu cut him off. "Golden Dragon Grand Elder, if I defeat you, does that mean my mother will regain her freedom?"
The Golden Dragon Grand Elder looked awkwardly at the Shrine Master and replied, "If you can defeat me, I’ll be the first to support your mother’s freedom. If you can’t, don’t blame me for being ruthless."
"Good, with your word I’m at ease. What do you think, Shrine Master?" Evan Chu asked, his gaze unwavering.
The Shrine Master sighed, "Your mother is my sister. Freeing her has been my wish for years. If you can defeat the Grand Elder, I won’t oppose it. But I hope you won’t hurt him—at least spare his life."
"Good. Since the Shrine Master agrees, does anyone else have objections? If I defeat the Grand Elder, my mother regains her freedom. I hope none of you go back on your word—otherwise, who knows what consequences there will be." Evan Chu looked at the crowd, his tone icy.
"What right does a mongrel have to make demands? Your mother disgraced herself by marrying a human, violating a major Dragon Clan taboo. If not for the Shrine Master, she’d be dead already. You think you can save her now? Dream on!" an elder suddenly spat, venom in his voice.
"Fine. You dare insult my mother—then you have no reason to live. Die!" Evan Chu roared, his killing intent erupting.
"You want my life? It won’t be that easy!" the elder shouted angrily, preparing to attack—only to discover he couldn’t move, as if frozen in place. He was instantly shocked, panic flashing across his face.
Evan Chu flashed forward, the Frostbane Sword sweeping out in a graceful arc. The elder’s head tumbled to the ground, eyes wide with terror—sending chills through the crowd.
The elder was none other than the Azure Dragon Clan Chief, a Sixth-Layer Venerable. Yet, in Evan Chu’s hands, he was killed in one strike with no chance to fight back—it was eerie and terrifying.
The crowd once again witnessed Evan Chu’s strength. The most shocked was the Golden Dragon Grand Elder, who stared at Evan and asked, "Did you use a spatial domain on him?"
"That’s right. Isn’t mine stronger than yours? That’s why you’re destined to lose. But since I promised the Shrine Master not to kill you, I’ll spare your life. If you want to back out, there’s still time." Evan Chu said, his tone full of disdain.
"Back out? You think too highly of yourself. Today I’ll show you the true power of the Golden Dragon body!" With a flash of golden light and a deafening dragon roar, the Grand Elder transformed into a thousand-meter-long golden dragon, soaring into the sky.
Evan Chu looked at him calmly and addressed the crowd: "Anyone else who objects can step forward—I’ll properly entertain them. To those who help me, I repay tenfold; to those who wrong me, I repay a hundredfold. That’s my creed."
For a moment, no one spoke. Satisfied, Evan Chu said, "If my mother regains her freedom, I’ll make sure everyone here is satisfied. You’ll be grateful for today’s decision—and I carry a secret that’ll make you even more so."
Evan Chu flashed into the air, and everyone else retreated quickly, not wanting to suffer again. Evan called out to the Grand Elder, "Let’s see just how powerful your Golden Dragon body really is!"
As he spoke, Evan Chu sent a voice transmission to Tom Chu: "Tom, any way to immobilize this old guy’s body? That dragon’s huge, and even though I can kill him, I’ll get hurt too. I need to completely shock them so my mother can go free."
Tom Chu replied, "Don’t worry, big brother. This is my space—I can control anyone I want. Go ahead and attack him without worry."
Evan Chu was delighted. He quickly communicated with the lightning element in the space, and within a few breaths, achieved resonance—all without anyone noticing.
At that moment, the Grand Elder’s massive dragon head lunged at Evan Chu, spewing dragonflame at meteoric speed—impossible to dodge. But then, something strange happened before everyone’s eyes.
Evan Chu didn’t dodge—he just stood there, baffling many. Golden Dragon dragonflame is ferocious, able to corrode instantly, but Evan didn’t move. Was he stunned? Clearly not—everyone knew he must have a counter.
Just as the dragonflame came within two meters of Evan Chu, it suddenly froze in place, as if time had stopped. The crowd was stunned—even the Shrine Master was shocked; no one had ever seen dragonflame blocked like this before.
The Grand Elder was even more shocked—his massive mouth gaping wide, big enough to swallow an elephant. Before he could speak, Evan Chu said, "Dragonflame? That’s nothing. Now taste my methods!"
Evan Chu unleashed Star-Cleave, but held back, using only eighty percent of his strength—he didn’t want to kill the elder outright and cause chaos.
