Lost in the Void

12/19/2025

Joe Di stopped. Right now, he had no sense of spatial orientation and no idea where he was. He even tried to tear open the void several times, but couldn't touch it at all.

This showed that the realm he was currently in was definitely not lower than the Dao Domain. He knew he couldn't tear open the void of the Dao Domain, but in the Immortal Realm or the cultivation realm, he could do so easily.

Without the Dao Domain as a reference point, and unable to find Xavier White, Joe Di realized that his chances of returning to the Immortal Realm were now very slim. He had originally wanted to go back to look for Nora Xiu, to see if she had ascended to the Immortal Realm. Besides Nora Xiu, there was also Nina Ning, whom he left behind in Cauldron Haven.

But plans never keep up with changes. In order to kill Jaden Dai, he ended up throwing himself into a corner of the void.

Joe Di began to wander through the void. At first, he was still somewhat confident. But as time went on, his confidence gradually faded.

If he were in seclusion, a hundred years would pass as easily as breathing for Joe Di. But searching for an exit in the void for a hundred years had made him thoroughly anxious.

When he entered the void rift before, he at least had a goal and direction. Now, he had neither. No matter where he went, it was all the same.

Joe Di had wandered through countless voids before, but the one he was in now was truly a first. This void had no light, no water, and not a single void beast in sight. Even void blades and void meteors were extremely rare.

The spiritual energy of this void was scarce, and the laws were chaotic. Even though Joe Di cultivated the Path of Laws, he couldn't stay here to cultivate for long. He had to find a way out quickly. If he wandered here for thousands of years, even his temperament would be affected.

If not for the fact that after using a talisman, he had no idea which direction he would end up in, Joe Di would have already used the Realmshatter Talisman he got from Henry Xing.

He hadn't expected that chasing after Jaden Dai would drive himself to such a desperate situation.

Joe Di was certain Jaden Dai had already escaped. Although Jaden Dai had lost an arm to him, that guy had the Fivefold Dao Tower. Joe Di truly didn't know the Fivefold Dao Tower could tear open the void.

He had plenty of treasures too—besides Voidmount and the Yin-Yang Taiji Diagram, he also had the Lethe Bridge. But all these treasures were either for defense or attack; none could tear open the void as freely as the Fivefold Dao Tower.

Another dozen years passed, and Joe Di stopped again.

After wandering in the void for over a hundred years, this was the seventh time he'd seen a void rift. This void rift was similar to the one he entered back then—he had traveled through that rift for thousands of years before reaching the Swarmlands in the Dao Domain.

He'd seen such void rifts several times before, but never dared to enter, fearing he'd have to travel through the rift for thousands more years.

Now, he was clearly lost, and he had a feeling that if he didn't enter this void rift, he might never find a way out, no matter how many hundreds or thousands of years he searched.

Unless he could break through to the Third Step and tear open the void here.

The laws of heaven and earth here were chaotic, and the spiritual energy was thin. Could he attain the Third Step here? That was nothing but wishful thinking.

He made up his mind—to go in from here. Even if he had to travel through the void rift for thousands of years again, it was still far better than being trapped in this void.

Since he'd made his decision, there was no reason to hesitate. Joe Di didn't even bother to summon his defensive treasures and charged straight into the rift.

His Sacred Physique meant that ordinary protective treasures were no match for his own flesh.

As soon as he entered the void rift, a violent barrage of spatial blades swept over him. In an instant, Joe Di's clothes were torn apart, leaving bloody marks all over his body.

After those bloody marks came cracks in his bones.

Joe Di was inwardly shocked by the power of the void rift's spatial tearing. If he didn't have his Sacred Physique, the only thing he could do now would be to enter the Ninth World. Even summoning the Yin-Yang Taiji Diagram wouldn't help; it might protect him for a moment, but not for long.

It wasn't that the Yin-Yang Taiji Diagram was lacking, but his strength simply wasn't enough to control it for long in this void rift.

Though his flesh and bones were constantly torn apart and restored, Joe Di still chose not to enter the Ninth World. He had honed his body precisely for situations like this. Besides, if he did enter the Ninth World, his speed would slow down dramatically.

Joe Di only hoped to leave this place as soon as possible, rather than wasting time in the Ninth World. If that were the case, he might as well have entered the Ninth World directly while in the void, without bothering with the rift.

.......

Void Market, outside the Phoenix Roost Inn.

Two women, their faces haggard, had been standing there for who knows how long. As another day drew to a close, the slim, blonde woman on the left sighed, "Vera, I'm afraid Joe Di will never come to Void Market to meet us again."

These two were Tammy Tang and Vera Tang, who had come to the Void Market to wait for Joe Di. They had waited for nearly three thousand years, and not only had Joe Di not arrived, there hadn't even been any news of him.

Vera Tang's face was especially haggard, her eyes weary.

After hearing Tammy Tang's words, she sighed as well. "Yes, I suppose Brother Joe won't be coming. Let's go to Celestial Beyond; we really can't afford to wait any longer."

Tammy Tang nodded. "I know Joe Di's character well—he's not someone who'd break a promise. If I'm not mistaken, something must have happened to him. Otherwise, he would have come here for sure. Even if he couldn't, he'd have sent us a message or left some information at my inn."

Vera Tang nodded, saying nothing more.

Unable to go to Celestial Beyond with Joe Di, she felt completely uncertain. She knew her own situation—though her strength was decent, that was only relative to this place, and even then, only barely so.

Celestial Beyond was full of powerful cultivators—many Dao Fusion experts, and even Third Step cultivators. Without Joe Di, they couldn't even be sure they'd survive.

But she had to go. Because of her seclusion, she missed that great battle. She'd even heard that Yi Mo had run into trouble, something she couldn't accept. She had to see for herself and investigate everything thoroughly.

"Vera, that fellow cultivator Jaden Jiao has come to Void Market several times. He's also looking for Joe Di. Should we contact him? Having him go to Celestial Beyond with us would give us a bit more security." Tammy Tang was no less worried than Vera Tang.

What worried her even more was that some expert from the Primordial World might come to this void and sweep away all the Divine Lands in this domain.

She didn't know where the Phoenix Clan's old nest was, but Tammy Tang believed this should be the true foundation of the Phoenix Clan, and it must not be destroyed so easily. Moreover, Tammy Tang wanted to know what happened to their ancestor, Lady Hanhuang, back then.

Neither she nor Vera Tang were especially powerful, and their experience was lacking. If Monk Jaden Jiao could go with them, they'd be much safer.

"I'm not going, I'm not going. If Brother Joe doesn't come, I'm definitely not going. Going to Celestial Beyond with you two—old Grandpa Jiao still wants to live a few more years." Before Vera Tang could answer Tammy Tang, Jaden Jiao's voice rang out.

When it came to the urge to see Joe Di, Jaden Jiao was no less eager than Tammy Tang and Vera Tang. Unfortunately, every time he came, he only saw Tammy Tang and Vera Tang—he hadn't even glimpsed a single hair of Brother Joe.
