Where Did the Prince Go

12/2/2025

Gregory Gu Jr. leapt to the side to dodge Leonard Yuan’s attack, but still got hit on the arm. He sucked in a breath from the pain, and while running toward the door, he turned back to Lily Evans and said, “Princess Consort, I’ll give you one more chance to reconsider. If you regret your decision, come find me.”

“Get out! You disgust me!” Leonard Yuan grabbed a decorative item and chased after him, swinging his arm and hurling it at Gregory Gu Jr. with all his might.

Gregory Gu Jr. didn’t stop for a second and dashed away so quickly he disappeared from sight. Leonard Yuan stood there, fuming, his chest heaving, then turned to Lily Evans and burst into tears. “Sis, how can that Gu be so shameless, how can he bully us like this!”

Lily Evans sighed, walked over and patted Leonard Yuan’s head. “When you study, you’re supposed to learn reason and shame. But clearly, that Imperial Grand Tutor Gu only read books and let the sages shape his mind. Sigh, Leonard, I’m afraid you won’t be able to attend Valor Academy.”

“Then I just won’t go! That broken Valor Academy is probably in cahoots with Gregory Gu Jr.—a nest of snakes and rats, none of them are any good!” Leonard Yuan fiercely wiped away his tears.

“I’m guessing you won’t be able to return to Phoenix Academy either.” Lily Evans sighed. Phoenix Academy was founded by Gregory Gu, Grand Secretary, but now that he’s old and sick and has returned to the capital for treatment, Gregory Gu Jr. is the one managing it.

Although Lily Evans holds a high position at the academy as Professor Su, that was back when things hadn’t soured between them.

Now Gregory Gu Jr. definitely won’t let Leonard Yuan return to Phoenix Academy.

Leonard Yuan hung his head. “If I can’t go back to Phoenix Academy, then so be it. Our whole family has moved to the capital anyway, and it’s no fun for me to go to Greenfield Academy alone. Sis Evans, I’ll just find an ordinary academy here in the capital. I don’t believe I have to go to Valor Academy to succeed! I’ll make a name for myself and show that Gu what I’m made of!”

“That’s the spirit!” Lily Evans praised, patting Leonard Yuan’s head. Then she glanced around and asked curiously, “Where’s the Prince?”

Logically speaking, Alexander Hayes should have shown up soon after learning that Gregory Gu Jr. was here. So where is he? Why hasn’t he appeared yet?

Where did Alexander Hayes go?

Imperial Capital, a secluded alley.

Gregory Gu Jr.'s carriage rolled slowly through the alley. He sat inside, eyes closed, his mind replaying the image of Lily Evans from earlier.

Her face, her figure, her voice—even her tone. Every frown and smile bewitched him, making him unable to let go.

Especially since she’s Alexander Hayes’s wife!

Alexander Hayes, the man who’s been Gregory Gu Jr.’s nemesis for half his life, not only rose faster than him, earning a princely title through military merit, but also married the woman Gregory Gu Jr. loves.

A burning mix of anger and resentment churned in Gregory Gu Jr.’s chest, making him irritable. He urged the coachman, “Why are you so slow? Hurry up!”

Suddenly, the carriage stopped. Gregory Gu Jr. was already in a foul mood and had no patience left. He snapped, “I told you to hurry—why are we stopping?”

The coachman’s voice trembled as it came through the window. “Imperial Grand Tutor, there’s—there’s an assassin blocking the road.”

“Oh? Another clueless assassin? Just deal with it quickly.” Gregory Gu Jr. looked utterly unfazed. In his position, he’s made plenty of enemies, and assassins come after him all the time. But Gregory Gu Jr. is far too cautious to ever travel unprotected—his own Shadow Guards are always lurking nearby, ready to dispatch any threat with ease.

This time would be no different, Gregory Gu Jr. thought.
