Confession in the Sealed Cavern
Lily Bai summoned an Immortal Binding Rope and sent it flying toward Darren Xuan.
But the Immortal Binding Rope turned to ash just a meter or two from Darren Xuan.
It was death light.
More death light appeared, cutting Lily Bai off from Darren Xuan.
She was now completely locked inside this underground cave.
Lily Bai looked at him. "Darren Xuan, what exactly do you want?"
"I don't want anything big! It's just been a while—I wanted to really look at you." Darren Xuan's gaze was completely unrestrained.
Lily Bai raised an eyebrow. "And after you're done looking?"
"Then I'll let you go."
"Really?"
"Really." Darren Xuan said, "Lucy Luan, I could hurt anyone, but I would never hurt you."
Lily Bai laughed. "Ha!"
"You know, right?" Darren Xuan looked at her. "Actually, I've always liked you! From the very first time I saw you, I liked you."
Lily Bai recalled the first time she met him in the Empress’s Palace—he stared at her without blinking, making Princess Quinn Xiao furious...
"Back then, I had plenty of chances to kill you," Darren Xuan said. "But I never did—and in the end, it ruined everything for me... I had to run for a hundred years."
Lily Bai asked, "Is Liam Leshan your older brother or younger brother?"
"Older brother."
"Didn't he still kill me?" Lily Bai asked. "What's the difference if he killed me or if you did?"
Darren Xuan said, "We're brothers, but his actions don't represent me."
Lily Bai nodded. "And what about Princess Quinn Xiao? She’s been devoted to you, searching everywhere for you. What does she mean to you?"
"Her... of course she's just a pawn." Darren Xuan said. "What else could she be?"
"So you got engaged to her, and you didn't feel a single thing?"
"If I felt anything, it was disgust." Darren Xuan frowned. "I can't stand her high-and-mighty, stupid, and overbearing attitude!"
Lily Bai raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
"Lucy Luan, I really love you," Darren Xuan said again. "Almost every night, I dream about you—entangled with you..."
"Darren Xuan!" Lily Bai cut him off. "Dreaming isn’t your fault, but saying stuff like that out loud is just gross!"
Darren Xuan’s face twitched awkwardly. "I get it, now that you’re the exalted Crown Princess, you must look down on me even more..."
"Actually, you’re pretty amazing! Vermilion blood on your mother’s side, Xuanchen on your father’s, rare looks, top-notch cultivation for your age—why put yourself down?" Lily Bai said. "Why not be a god who brings blessings? Why insist on being a sinner? Aren’t you afraid of Heaven’s tribulation lightning when you ascend?"
"A god who brings blessings?" Darren Xuan gave a short laugh. "My mother always told me I wasn’t born for myself, but for the revival of the Vermilion clan! Then my father’s side called me a bastard. Tell me, for a god who’s never once received a blessing, how could I possibly become one who blesses others?"
Lily Bai frowned.
"Try sensing your Divine Power now—do you still have it?" Darren Xuan suddenly asked.
Lily Bai tried, then asked, "Did you drug me?"
"It's a Vermilion secret elixir—colorless, tasteless, and it will temporarily seal your Divine Power," Darren Xuan said. "But don’t be afraid, I truly won’t hurt you."
As he spoke, the death light barrier between them withdrew. Darren Xuan walked over and stopped right beside her, staring intently.
Then he reached out to touch her face.
