Is It Just Too Hot Today

Evan Xiao: "Why did you suddenly want to ask him?"

"If not for his Dragon Scale, how could I have cultivated so quickly?" Grace said. "What should've taken ten years, I did in less than one. I'm really grateful and want to thank him."

"He went back to the Divine Realm."

"Then... how about you come with me to the Temple of Compassionate Splendor to pay respects to the Divine Dragon?" Grace asked.

"Actually... you don't need to worship him."

"Why not?"

"If you were just an ordinary person, he wouldn't have given you the Dragon Scale. It's because I'm his friend, and you're my woman, that's why he gave it to you," Evan Xiao said. "If you go worship him, you'll ruin the friendship instead."

Grace frowned and said, "Aren't you getting a bit too cocky?"

"Cocky?"

"Even if the Divine Dragon recognizes you as a friend, you're still a human, not part of the Divine Race! We should always stay humble in front of the Divine Race."

Evan Xiao: "Really?"

"Of course! Just for what you said earlier, you have to come with me to the Temple of Compassionate Splendor! You must pay your respects to the Divine Dragon, absolutely!"

Evan Xiao: "...Fine, let's go."

...

So, the two of them went to the Temple of Compassionate Splendor.

The Temple of Compassionate Splendor was a national treasure, not only honoring the Divine Dragon, but also the Phoenix Goddess. Incense curled in the air, and crowds came and went.

Today, the abbot was holding a ceremony, so everyone had gathered over there.

Inside the Hall of the Divine Dragon, there wasn’t a single soul.

Grace knelt on the prayer cushion, lit incense, and bowed three times, murmuring prayers with extra devotion.

But when she finished, she realized Evan Xiao had just been standing behind her the whole time—he hadn’t knelt or bowed at all.

"Why aren’t you bowing?" Grace asked.

"You go ahead." Evan Xiao replied.

He could pass for an ordinary Spirit Master elsewhere—like with Gu Xingyun, kneeling didn’t matter.

But in a temple, where the spirits were real, he couldn’t kneel.

There are five types of dragons: Flood Dragons, Primal Dragons, Guardian Drakes, Azure Dragons, and Divine Dragons.

Only the Xiao Clan and maybe two or three other families could truly claim the title of Divine Dragon.

As for the Guardian Drake worshipped in this temple, it wasn’t worthy of his kneel.

"Hurry up and bow!" Grace tugged at his sleeve.

"You go ahead. I’m sure Elder Drake has already received your gratitude." Evan Xiao said.

"I’m me, and you’re you!" Grace retorted. "You’re here, but you just stand around and don’t bow—the Divine Dragon will punish you!"

The Divine Dragon isn't that petty!

You’re a general, always risking your life on the battlefield. There’s no harm in praying more! Grace yanked him down to kneel beside her and pressed the burning incense into his hand.

Was she afraid he might die on the battlefield?

Evan Xiao smiled.

What are you laughing at? Hurry up and bow!

Evan Xiao glanced at the dragon on the altar and finally bowed.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he did, the dragon statue on the shrine suddenly cracked with a loud bang!

Grace jumped in shock, her eyes wide as she stared at the dragon. "Wh-what happened? Is it just too hot today?"

Evan Xiao stood up and said, "Let’s go find someone from the temple to take a look!"

Okay! Grace forgot to make Evan Xiao keep bowing and rushed out to find a monk.

In the land of the Dragon Abyss.

A certain dragon, with white feathered wings and a golden back and belly, was soaking comfortably in the Celestial Pool, eyes closed and limbs spread.

Suddenly, a bolt of purple-gold lightning struck down from the sky with a bang, hitting its head.

“Ouch!” The dragon shot out of the water and, upon landing, transformed into a handsome young man in yellow robes.
