How About We Make a Bet
Even those elders who couldn't come closer were all straining their ears to listen.
Chloe Zhu's gaze swept from Sophie Shang to Bianca Whiteshire and Raina Zane. She smiled slightly and said, each word clear: "What I just said was, the Celestial Emperor only followed the omen and granted a marriage between Crown Prince Evan Xiao and Sophie Shang! The two of them will not get married!"
Just now, she said, 'Whether they can get married is still uncertain!'
Now it’s directly become 'They won’t get married.'
Everyone fell silent for several moments.
Raina Zane saw her actually say it, and so calmly and outrageously, she felt inexplicably angry, though she couldn’t even tell why.
Bianca Whiteshire, on the other hand, was thrilled.
This fool actually said something like that—let’s see how Sophie Shang deals with her!
But Sophie Shang herself didn’t react at all. She just stared at Chloe Zhu for a moment and said, "This is the Sacrificial Hall. Stop talking nonsense! The rest of you, don’t get involved in this mess."
With that, she turned and walked away.
It was as if they were all children, and she, the adult, simply didn't bother arguing with them.
This kind of composure made Raina Zane feel inferior by comparison.
But she had no idea what Sophie Shang was really thinking.
She said she wanted to hear Chloe Zhu say those words, but it wasn’t for herself.
She wanted the Divine Empress to hear it.
At that moment, the Divine Empress’s face was as dark as storm clouds—her goal was achieved.
Bianca Whiteshire saw Sophie Shang just casually say "Don’t get involved in this mess" and walk away, and she was left simmering with frustration. She immediately snapped at Chloe Zhu: "Chloe Zhu, you say they won’t get married? What makes you so sure?"
"I just think they won’t get married," Chloe Zhu replied. "The Celestial Emperor will definitely issue a decree to cancel their engagement!"
"Wow! Are you tired of living? You even dare to talk about the Celestial Emperor like that?" Chloe Zhu was getting more fired up, while Bianca Whiteshire was fuming.
"How about we make a bet?" Chloe Zhu suggested.
"What kind of bet?" Bianca Whiteshire asked, puzzled.
"If Crown Prince Evan Xiao and Sophie Shang get married, I’ll never return to Drake Abyss for the rest of my life. I’ll never see the Crown Prince again," Chloe Zhu declared.
Bianca Whiteshire’s eyes lit up.
Was she really going to cut herself off from the Crown Prince?
"Are you serious?" Bianca Whiteshire asked.
"Of course! Everyone heard me say it today. I always keep my word!" Chloe Zhu said.
“Great! You said it yourself! The Divine Empress, Princess, my mother, and my cousin are all here! You have to mean what you say!” Bianca Whiteshire said eagerly.
“I always keep my word,” Chloe Zhu replied. “But if the Celestial Emperor cancels the engagement, you have to give me something in return!”
“What do you want?”
“I heard you say your family has a Boros Fruit about to ripen. If you lose, you have to give me that fruit!”
“That’s it?”
“That’s it!”
“Good! It’s settled then!” Bianca Whiteshire agreed immediately. As a half-divine being, she never needed the Boros Fruit, so she accepted without hesitation.
As for whether anyone else in her family might need it, she didn’t care.
But Chloe Zhu shook her head and said, “That Boros Fruit isn’t yours—you may have agreed, but it might not count, right?”
“Why wouldn’t it count?” Bianca Whiteshire hurriedly grabbed her mother, Empress Wendy. “Mother! You’re the one who grew that Boros Fruit—do you support my bet?”
