The air was oppressively hot.
The atmosphere was tense and silent.
Even sitting down, Brother Snake was almost eye-to-eye with Evan Lin.
"Tsk. Which crew do you run with, kid? You look kind of unfamiliar." Brother Snake glanced at Evan Lin, spinning his folding knife as he spoke.
His voice wasn't rough, but it carried a cold, sinister edge that made people uneasy.
"Why should my boss report to you? You think you're qualified for that?"
Evan Lin kept silent, but Big Tank barked out at Brother Snake in his usual rough voice.
Brother Snake tilted his head, sneered at Big Tank, and said, "Big Tank, you work for Imperial Grand, so I won't make trouble for you out of respect for Victor Yu. But that kid you brought in? He's not leaving."
He paused, then raised an eyebrow. "Wait, you mean he's your boss now? What, moving backward in life? Not clinging to Victor Yu's leg anymore, and you picked up some random kid as your master?"
Last time I saw you, you were trailing after Victor Yu like a dog. Switched owners already?
Brother Snake spun his folding knife, while Big Tank's face flushed red.
Out on the street, Big Tank was at least manager of SK Bar, a small venue under Imperial Grand. He couldn't match Brother Snake's casino, but in terms of status, they were equals.
But now, on someone else's turf, Big Tank knew he probably couldn't take on Poison Viper, so he could only swallow his anger.
Evan Lin didn't even glance at Big Tank. He pulled out a chair and sat across from Brother Snake, his face calm. "I walk the Heaven and Earth Dao. Trash like you could never understand."
I'm here for one reason: someone owes me money and didn't pay on time. So I'm here to collect.
I'll give you thirty minutes. Get him here. If he doesn't show in thirty minutes, I'll take a pair of your hands.
If he's still not here in an hour, I'll take a pair of your legs.
Evan Lin's quiet voice echoed through the office.
Brother Snake narrowed his eyes, sizing up Evan Lin, then sneered. "Kid, you must be confused. I didn't call you in here to help you collect debts."
"Just now, you cheated in my place and won a lot of money. I'm here to settle that score." Brother Snake licked his lips, coldly staring at Evan Lin. "Let me tell you, in all of Brightsea City, no one dares cheat in my place. The last guy who did is feeding the fish at the bottom of the river. And you not only cheated, you hurt my men. I intend to settle this account properly."
Bang!
Brother Snake's spinning knife stopped in an instant. With a flick of his wrist, he drove the blade into the desk, the tip sinking deep and leaving a scar in the wood.
As the sound echoed, the office door was suddenly thrown open from outside.
Ten burly men with steel pipes marched in, quickly surrounding Evan Lin and Big Tank in several layers.
Each one wore a cold, hostile expression as they stared down Evan Lin and Big Tank in the center.
"Poison Viper! You really dare lay a hand on us? I'm telling you—this guy is Victor Yu's top pick! His status in Imperial Grand is no joke!"
Seeing these men, Big Tank's face fell. His already bulky body broke out in a cold sweat.
"Oh? Didn't expect you to have such a background." Brother Snake glanced at Evan Lin in mild surprise, then his eyes turned cold again. "But so what? If you can't walk out of here, who'll ever know you came?"
"Even if Victor Yu comes looking, I just have to say I don't know anything. What's he really going to do to me?"
Brother Snake grinned. "Kid, you only have yourself to blame for cheating in my place!"
Sigh." Just as Brother Snake finished speaking, Evan Lin let out a soft sigh, making Snake pause in surprise.
"You know perfectly well whether I cheated or not. But it looks like you don't plan to reason or bring me the person I'm after." Evan Lin sniffed, while Big Tank, standing to his left, caught a glimpse of Evan's left sleeve out of the corner of his eye.
There, cold flashes kept flickering.
It was still that same knife!
But now, the knife spun rapidly between Evan's fingers, so fast Big Tank couldn't even see the hilt.
"In my place, winning money means cheating! As for your target, I couldn't care less." Brother Snake snorted coldly.
The man in the suit, who had been listening quietly, spoke coldly: "Do it. Chop them into mince and feed them to the dogs."
At his words, the ten thugs instantly swung their steel pipes at Evan Lin.
Their eyes were fierce, their strikes ruthless.
Evan Lin, who had been sitting, now slowly stood up.
Evan Lin stared at Brother Snake: "You made a wrong choice. For that mistake, you'll pay with eleven pairs of hands and one life."
Evan Lin spoke blandly. Brother Snake, staring at the boy before him, felt his heart tighten and his brows furrow.
A sense of unease began to ferment in his heart.
But it didn't make sense.
There were ten men here, all seasoned enforcers from the casino, each a veteran of countless fights.
Just now, Snake had seen Evan Lin cripple three of his men on the surveillance feed, so he made sure the suited man picked ten of the best to come in.
With the office so small, even if this kid was a master, he wouldn't be able to fight freely.
Everything was within Brother Snake's calculations.
Yet at this moment, Brother Snake suddenly felt unsure.
Because in the boy's eyes just now, there was a look of utter contempt, making Snake feel like a mere ant.
Evan Lin didn't move as quickly as expected; instead, his actions seemed almost slow.
With his left hand gripping the knife in reverse, Evan Lin shifted his body, dodging the first steel pipe. His eyes were cold, and his left hand naturally flicked upward.
The blade sliced through like paper, severing the thug's hand in an instant.
Evan stepped left, placing himself at the second man's elbow, causing his attack to miss.
Another slash.
Clean and decisive.
Ridiculous.
Evan Lin's lips curled into a smile as he cut through men like slicing melons.
