Requesting Joe Di's Aid

12/19/2025

In his heart, he grew even more wary of Joe Di. While most had never seen the World Tree, Voidbreaker certainly had. Joe Di must have obtained the World Tree; otherwise, he could not have refined such tea. To acquire the World Tree and even use it to brew Starlight Tea—Voidbreaker was left speechless by Joe Di’s audacity.

Joe Di remained silent, unconcerned even if Voidbreaker had recognized that this Starlight Tea was refined using the World Tree Cauldron.

Voidbreaker understood Joe Di’s intent and said, “Daoist Di, if you wish to merge with the Grand Way—or even the Supreme Grand Way—you must enter the Mountainview Forbidden Zone.”

Since Joe Di could even obtain the World Tree, Voidbreaker was determined to win his friendship. Having survived the chaotic battles of the past, Voidbreaker knew better than anyone the value of a powerful ally.

Joe Di frowned. He had encountered many cultivators who had merged with the Dao, but their strengths varied greatly. Some, like Voidbreaker before him, were so powerful that even most Prime Realm cultivators would not be a match. Yet he had also met weaker ones; back when he was only at the early Prime Realm, he could easily kill those so-called Dao Mergers.

“Voidbreaker, what do you mean by merging with the Dao, or even the Supreme Grand Way?” Joe Di asked.

Voidbreaker laughed heartily. “I was waiting for you to ask that. If you hadn’t, I would have been disappointed. In our path of cultivation, there are greater and lesser Daos. Those who pursue the Grand Way merge with the Grand Way; those who pursue lesser ways merge with lesser ways; and those who follow false ways merge with false ways. If you merge with the Dao here, I guarantee it will only be a lesser way.”

“What do you mean?” Joe Di grew even more puzzled.

Voidbreaker shook his head. “It’s not something that can be explained in words—you must comprehend it yourself. The reason I said you must merge with the Dao in the Mountainview Forbidden Zone is because, after the Creation War, the area is filled with shattered Dao Rhythms. Later, as cosmic laws grew chaotic, the Dao Rhythms there became even more jumbled. Yet the world’s rules remain resilient, and killing intent runs rampant. If you can merge with the Dao there, it will be the Supreme Grand Way.”

“And if I fail to merge with the Dao?” Joe Di asked coldly.

Voidbreaker said calmly, “Then you can only die.”

Joe Di was unfazed by Voidbreaker's attitude. It was clear: if you cannot be the strongest, it’s better not to do it at all.

Although Joe Di still did not fully understand Voidbreaker’s meaning, a vague idea began to form in his mind. No matter how powerful his cultivation technique was, receiving even a hint of guidance from such an ancient powerhouse would be invaluable.

“Thank you, Voidbreaker. For this advice alone, I’ll let go of the matter of my cave abode being destroyed,” Joe Di said.

Voidbreaker waved his hand and took out a thumb-sized crystal, handing it to Joe Di. “Take this as compensation. I believe you’ll find it useful.”

Joe Di was about to refuse, but when he saw the item, he accepted it in surprise. “Is this an Eonsea Crystal?”

“That’s right, it’s indeed an Eonsea Crystal. I didn’t get many back then, so I’m giving you this small piece.” Voidbreaker was pleased with Joe Di’s reaction. As a Dao Lord, he knew it was wise not to be stingy when befriending someone like Joe Di.

Joe Di put away the Eonsea Crystal and cupped his fists. “Thank you. I can really use this. But compared to my Supreme Artifact cave abode, this is far more valuable.”

Voidbreaker laughed. “After all, I was in the wrong first. Besides, I might need your help someday, Daoist Di. A mere piece of Eonsea Crystal is nothing.”

Joe Di nodded, no longer modest. The Eonsea Crystal could be used to set up the most advanced arrays, help comprehend Dao arts and divine abilities, and even be fused into artifacts. If used for refining talismans, it could create top-tier talismans in the starry skies.

Joe Di was a top-tier array master, but even the best array master needed quality materials—without them, many formations simply couldn’t be set up.

Moreover, Joe Di had other plans for that bit of Eonsea Crystal. He intended to forge a true blade array, using Supreme Artifacts, with his Azure Veil Blade as the array’s core.

Once the blade array was complete, combined with his Creation Brush, Joe Di believed he would no longer have to bow to anyone in this realm.

“Daoist Di, you should know my strength has greatly diminished. Back then, to avoid being ambushed, I hid all my possessions at a spot in Jialiang Mountain. Later, after endless battles, that place became known as the Celestial Tomb Ridge. When I returned, not only was the Celestial Tomb Ridge gone, but everything I’d hidden had vanished—including my life artifact, the Voidshatter Stele, and the Voidshatter Codex.”

After finishing his explanation, Voidbreaker said to Joe Di, “Daoist Di, I suspect my things are still there, but I’d be too weak to go alone. I’ve traveled far and wide, and aside from you, there’s no one else I truly respect.”

Joe Di understood what Voidbreaker meant and said calmly, “You’re inviting me to enter the Mountainview Forbidden Zone with you and lend you a hand?”

Voidbreaker didn’t mind Joe Di’s words and replied bluntly, “Yes, I’m asking for your help. Of course, with just the two of us, our strength isn’t much. But once we enter the Mountainview Forbidden Zone, I’m sure you’ll succeed in merging with the Dao, and I’ll have a great chance to reach the Third Step.”

Joe Di chuckled. “Voidbreaker, let’s be frank. Your life artifact is the Voidshatter Stele. If you want to reach the Third Step, you’ll need to find it first.”

Voidbreaker wasn’t embarrassed that Joe Di saw through him. “That’s right. That’s exactly what I’m thinking.”

Joe Di didn’t respond to Voidbreaker. Instead, he opened his palm and revealed a jade slip. This jade slip contained all the information about the Mountainview Forbidden Zone that Lightning had gathered over the years.

After scanning the jade slip with his divine sense, Joe Di couldn’t help but praise Lightning—this guy was truly skilled at gathering information; the slip contained everything.

Putting the jade slip away, Joe Di said, “Voidbreaker, as far as I know, after the Creation War, while there were many experts here in Mountainview, none were truly top-tier. With your abilities, who would you fear in this forbidden zone?”

Voidbreaker stood and cupped his fists to Joe Di. “Daoist Di, you may not fully understand the Creation War. After the war, Creation Resonance gathers at the battlefield, and over time, it forms a new domain. The first Creation War even gave rise to the Slaughter Realm.”

“So what?” Joe Di replied.

Voidbreaker sighed. “Countless experts fell during the Creation War. But do you think they all truly perished? No—some appeared to be gone, but remnants of their Dao Resonance could use the creation aura here to be reborn. The Mountainview Forbidden Zone now resembles the Slaughter Realm of old. I’m certain it’s filled with peerless experts.”

“Just say it—what exactly do you need my help with?” Joe Di had already seen through Voidbreaker’s intentions; it was clearly not a simple request.

Voidbreaker took a deep breath and spoke slowly, “Back then, my Voidshatter Stele and Voidshatter Codex may have been taken by a cultivator surnamed Ning. According to my investigations, his Dao companion Yan Ji fell in the Creation War. If I’m lucky, I might find the remnant soul of that woman, reborn…”

Joe Di sneered, “So you want to seize someone’s woman and use her as leverage against him?”
