"I told you three to stop. Did you hear me?"
Rufina Howard nearly shouted, her voice echoing across the room. Mason Payne, battered and bruised, lay on the ground as the Three Mimics encircled him, continuing their assault with fists and kicks. At Rufina's cry, they finally stopped.
"What exactly are you three doing?"
Rufina Howard glared angrily at the trio, but the Three Mimics still stared at Mason Payne with unabated hostility.
"This guy is dangerous."
The Gray Humanoid Entity spoke, its voice reverting to the mechanical, emotionless tone it had before gaining consciousness.
"Enough."
Rufina Howard stepped in front of Mason Payne. The Three Mimics watched her in silence, their eyes never leaving Mason, their vigilance unyielding.
"Someone we've never seen before."
The Deathbane Wraith muttered. Rufina Howard clenched her teeth in anger as the Three Mimics slowly drifted away. She helped Mason Payne to his feet.
"Are you alright?"
"Ah, I'm fine, Rufina. Maybe your friend put something into that Evil Ghost's head."
For a moment, Rufina Howard seemed dazed. After a long pause, she shook her head.
"No way. That guy might be a little dark and sharp-tongued, but he wouldn't mislead anyone—especially not those three non-human things."
"How about we go ask that Evil Ghost ourselves?"
Mason Payne suggested, and Rufina Howard stood up, then shook her head again.
"No, I promised him I wouldn't reveal his whereabouts to anyone."
"Is that so? Heh, let's just find somewhere to stay for now."
Rufina Howard's cheeks flushed red, and Mason Payne chuckled.
"I need to get changed. Those three really beat me up back there."
After Rufina Howard and Mason Payne left, the Deathbane Wraith and White Peacemaker held back the Gray Humanoid Entity.
"She hates us now, you know. We just beat up her man. That's how people are—sometimes their partners matter even more than their own parents. If you follow her, nothing good will come of it. Besides, she's got no real ties to us."
White Peacemaker spoke, and the Gray Humanoid Entity nodded.
"Yeah, forget it. She doesn't have any real connection to us anyway."
The Three Mimics began wandering through the city, but the Gray Humanoid Entity seemed troubled, lost in thought.
"Hey, I told you to stop thinking about it."
Deathbane Wraith said, giving the Gray Humanoid Entity a slap on the forehead.
"Little Black, do you think she's our friend?"
"Don't ask me. I don't know what a friend is, or what it feels like. We don't have any of that. We can't understand people, so let's just keep living in human society together. Maybe someday we'll figure out what it means to be human."
The Gray Humanoid Entity nodded, but then turned to address the White Peacemaker.
"Little White, what do you think?"
"I agree with Little Black. That guy gives off a vibe we can't stand. Rufina Howard doesn't know, and even if she did, she wouldn't listen to us. The book says 'those involved are confused, bystanders see clearly.' That's what I remember."
"What the book says isn't always right."
At that moment, the trio reached the outskirts of the city, settling into a rundown shack.
Night was falling. The three simultaneously turned to look at the distant woods, sensing something. They drifted in that direction.
A blaring horn sounded, and a car burst out of a pocket of space, arriving in the woods.
Inside the car sat a person wearing a red mask and three ghosts. The driver, smiling gently, had pale skin and a long face, looking quite friendly.
With a bang, the red-masked figure suddenly lunged forward. In an instant, his fists struck the Deathbane Wraith and White Peacemaker, shattering their forms into streams of black and white energy. The Gray Humanoid Entity tried to fight back, but the driver transformed into a streak of green light, flashed over, and grabbed the red-masked man's hand.
"Forget it. These things aren't human or ghost. They're probably some kind of aggregation of intent. Fighting them is pointless."
"Ray Lin, what do you say? Join this round of the plan too."
"No need. I have no interest in your plans."
At that moment, a ghost in a wheelchair got out of the car and floated over.
"Now that we know the location of that evil ghost, with the Ghost Syndicate and our Immortality Society working together, we’re bound to get it done."
Ray Lin shook his head and smiled.
"Cao Wanzhi, you’re underestimating that evil ghost."
Just then, another ghost got out of the car as well.
"Julian Chu, you didn’t even live in the same era as that evil ghost. How would you know what he’s capable of now? Ray Lin, I’ll leave it to you. Bring the rest of those guys over."
Cao Wanzhi said, and Ray Lin nodded.
"Wei Chengwu, about what we agreed on..."
"Don’t worry, Ray Lin. The Immortality Society keeps its word. But I do have a question—when exactly did you come into existence?"
Wei Chengwu, the red-faced man, looked at Ray Lin with confusion.
"I’m not worth mentioning. I’m just a weakling whose ghost soul can quickly move people around, that’s all. Heh, hurry up. After all, there’s another big shot watching this place every second."
"Lord Malice, right? We’ve already tracked his movements. The Immortality Society is watching him. There won’t be any major problems."
Once the three left, the gray humanoid still hid behind a tree, waiting for the right moment to attack Ray Lin.
"I can’t take on all four, but if it’s just one, I’m not afraid. Heh."
The gray humanoid grinned, ready to strike at Ray Lin. Suddenly, someone patted him on the shoulder from behind.
"I told you, I’m not your enemy. You should be able to sense that."
The gray humanoid looked at the Ray Lin behind him, then at the Ray Lin in front of him, baffled. He glanced left and right in confusion. Ray Lin smiled, and the Ray Lin in front of the gray humanoid dissolved into a streak of green light and vanished.

"Interesting."
The gray humanoid applauded.
"This is called a ghost soul. Blue Wraiths all have multiple ghost souls. By the way, what are you people, really?"
With a whoosh, the gray humanoid floated up. He had no intention of dealing with the one who wasn’t his enemy. He was going to track the three who had just scattered the black and white humanoids.
Strangely, after the three entered the city, only Wei Chengwu remained. The other two ghosts were nowhere to be found. At that moment, Wei Chengwu removed his mask, revealing a rugged face. He was well-dressed and entered the governor’s mansion.
"Heh, found you. Time to report back to Blackie and Whitey."
But suddenly, the gray humanoid stopped and changed direction, heading toward a bustling street. He decided to check on Rufina Howard.
After sensing Rufina Howard’s aura, the gray humanoid grinned.
"Stupid girl, that guy’s no good."
It was Redmond. He glared fiercely at Rufina Howard, who spread her arms to shield Mason Payne behind her.
"Mason Payne saved me. And... and he’s a good person."
Rufina Howard said, while Redmond was already livid. Vivian Maple held him back tightly.
"Besides, my business is none of yours. It has nothing to do with you, okay?"
Redmond gave a twisted smile.
"Let me rip off your mask."
With a whoosh, Redmond appeared behind Mason Payne. Rufina Howard screamed and grabbed Redmond.
"You need to leave. This evil ghost is dangerous, he..."
"It’s fine, Rufina. If you don’t leave, I won’t either."
Rufina Howard’s eyes were full of emotion. She clung tightly to Redmond.
"If you want to do it, kill me too. You liar."
Redmond stared at Mason Payne in shock.
"Boss..."
"Forget it. It doesn’t matter anymore."
Redmond turned away and floated to the window.
"Stupid girl, if you don’t listen to me, no one will save you when the time comes."
"I’d rather die than be saved by you."
Redmond’s face was complicated. He left, and outside, he saw the gray humanoid laughing.
"What’s so funny?"
"Why not just kill that guy when Rufina Howard isn’t looking? We beat him up as soon as we saw him!"
Redmond forced a bitter smile and glanced back at the apartment building.
"Boss, let me do it. I’ll leave no trace..."
Redmond shook his head.
"In the end, she’s not the person I used to know. She has her own life now, no matter how cruel it is, whatever the outcome, I’ll just watch quietly and honor her wishes."
"No matter what, that guy’s with the Immortality Society. We can’t just let them..."
Redmond raised his hand. Vivian Maple said nothing more.
"A promise is a promise. She’s not her anymore. Now she’s just some foolish girl I met along the way. Don’t bring it up again. I’m heading back. I won’t break my word, even if it means watching her die."
With a whoosh, the gray humanoid blocked Redmond’s path.
"Die? Will she really die?"
"Who knows? If you want, just watch quietly. Do whatever you want."
The two left in silence.
"Boss, she’s still the same as ever. She hasn’t changed at all."
Redmond didn’t respond.
Meanwhile, Mason Payne and Rufina Howard were still in the apartment.
Vivian Maple glanced at Mason Payne, who was clutching his chest, breathing heavily.
Rufina Howard touched Mason Payne’s arm, her eyes full of concern.
"Are you okay?"
