Goldwing's words left Evan Chu even more stunned. "You call that not much use? Attacks three times faster than normal, movement speed three times faster too—damn, that's straight-up cheating!"
"Excellent, Goldwing, really excellent. Don't worry, I'll help you break through—just trust me!" Evan Chu patted his shoulder as he spoke.
"Then from now on, I'll call you Master! And please, Master, give me a new name!" said the Violet Thunder Fox.
Evan Chu thought for a moment and came up with an idea. "Goldwing calls you Foxy, so how about I call you Macy Mei?"
"Macy Mei? Macy Mei... I like that name! Hehe, I trust you, Master!" The Violet Thunder Fox smiled, her stunning face blooming like a peony among a hundred flowers—so radiant, so beautiful.
"From now on, don't call me Master. That name really doesn't suit me. Just call me Boss, like Goldwing does!" Evan Chu laughed. He really couldn't stare at Macy Mei's face for long—one careless look and he'd be hopelessly distracted.
"Then I'll call you Big Brother from now on. 'Boss' is usually what bad guys use, but Big Brother is for good people." Macy Mei giggled.
Goldwing felt a black line crawl up his forehead. Seriously? She fell for that? There's no justice in this world.
Evan Chu couldn't help but feel both exasperated and amused. This little fox loved to act cute—he'd definitely get teased by her plenty in the future.
"Let's head back. The sooner we finish the mission, the sooner you guys can get out of here!" Evan Chu said, then left directly.
Zack Zhao and Jenny Sima’s group were working hard to slay spirit beasts, but when Evan Chu and the others approached, they all stopped.
Goldwing shrank back into his true form and perched on Evan’s shoulder. Evan asked, “How many magic crystals are you still missing?”
“Let me count!” Zack Zhao said, then started tallying up how many crystals each student had collected.
“We’re still short by over two hundred. The spirit beasts here are pretty scarce—after all this time, we’ve only got about twenty crystals. Should we move somewhere else?” Zack Zhao suggested.
“No need to change locations. Let’s just go ask people for crystals directly. Killing spirit beasts is a hassle—killing people is way faster and easier.” Evan Chu said.
Now that he had Macy Mei the Violet Thunder Fox and Goldwing, taking down spirit beasts or people was a breeze. But since both were spirit beasts, having them kill felt a bit wrong—slaying Sea Dragon Academy students would be much more satisfying.
If they could take out a few top fighters from the Sea Dragon Academy Honors Class, their own academy’s chances in the next inter-school competition would be locked in.
“Killing people? You mean Sea Dragon Academy students? Just us? If we run into a bigger group, we’ll have no choice but to run. Are you sure about this?” Zack Zhao said, shocked.
“Just kill as many as we can. What, are you scared?” Evan Chu grinned. Maybe Zack Zhao and the others had suffered at the hands of Sea Dragon Academy before, which was why he was so hesitant.
“Who’s scared? Evan Chu, how about we make it a contest? Whoever kills more gets a favor from the loser. Dare to take the bet?” Suddenly, Quinn Wu, who had been silent, spoke up.
Evan Chu chuckled, scratching his head. "You look kind of familiar. Where have I seen you before? Let me think." He paused and then snapped his fingers. "Oh, right! The Life-and-Death Platform. But you were just another loser under my sword, weren’t you? How do you expect to compete?"
“You... Don’t get cocky! Do you dare go head-to-head with me?” Quinn Wu said, swallowing his anger. As long as he could win Jenny Sima, no matter the humiliation or difficulty, he’d fight for her without hesitation.
Evan looked at him, then at Jenny Sima, and laughed. “You think I’m scared of you? Beating you is child’s play. My condition is simple—if I win, you stop chasing after Jenny. My woman isn’t someone you can touch, not even in your dreams.”
Even though Evan was smiling, the killing intent radiating from him was so intense it sent chills down everyone’s spine.
Quinn Wu hesitated for a moment, then steeled himself. “Fine. You said it yourself—if you win, I’ll leave Jenny alone. But if you lose, you walk away and she’ll belong to me alone.”
“Quinn Wu! Enough! How many times do I have to say it? My heart only has room for Evan Chu—there’s no space for a second man. Give it up!” Jenny Sima snapped, furious at being ignored.
“Jenny, it’s fine. Can’t you see this guy is head-over-heels for you? Too bad he’s barking up the wrong tree. Don’t worry, your man isn’t someone just anyone can beat.” Evan Chu laughed.
Then Evan turned to Goldwing on his shoulder. “Goldwing, scout around and see if there are any Sea Dragon Academy students nearby. The boss is about to start a killing contest.”
Goldwing immediately took off, flying so fast that everyone was stunned.
“Boss, want me to help?” Macy Mei the Violet Thunder Fox asked.
“No need. I want to win this myself and make sure he’s completely convinced. Just help me keep Jenny safe, and maybe look out for the others too.” Evan Chu said. With Macy Mei guarding Jenny, Evan could focus on the fight without worry.
Soon Goldwing flew back, landed on Evan’s shoulder, and said, “Boss, there are over twenty people five li southeast, busy hunting spirit beasts. They’re probably the ones you’re looking for.”
“Don’t get it wrong. There are plenty of Heavenly Dragon Academy students too. If we head over and it turns out to be our own academy, that’d be a waste.”
“No mistake. I quietly took out one of them and found that blue stone on him—same as the ones you got from those students before.”
“Got it. You just fly overhead and keep watch for anyone else coming.” Evan Chu said.
Once Evan knew the Sea Dragon Academy group’s location, he announced, “Sea Dragon Academy’s people are five li southeast, hunting spirit beasts right now. Let’s go pay them a visit and see how tough their Honors Class really is.”
“How do you know Sea Dragon Academy’s students are five li away?” one of the students asked, puzzled.
“Jenny, let’s go! We’ll know when we get there. Trust me, I’m never wrong! Hahaha!” Evan Chu laughed loudly, grabbed Jenny Sima’s hand, and strode off.
“Evan Chu is way too arrogant!”
“He’s got the right to be. If you’ve got the strength, you can be arrogant too.”
“Let’s go, everyone. Didn’t you see that vulture on his shoulder? It was the one that told Evan Chu.” Zack Zhao said, then followed after them.
The five-li journey was over in no time. When Evan Chu’s group showed up, the Sea Dragon Academy students were surprised, but relaxed when they saw it was only a dozen or so people.
“Quinn Wu, when does the contest start?” Evan Chu asked.
“Right now! I can't stand it another second!” Quinn Wu shouted, then dashed forward like a blur, charging straight at the Sea Dragon Academy group. The slaughter was about to begin...
