Molly Yun saw a python as thick as a human thigh, winding and slithering straight toward her and Hugo.
Molly Yun's mind spun with dizziness like never before, then rebooted quickly, searching her memory for information about this snake.
Green Anaconda.
The Green Anaconda is the largest snake in the world, also called the Anaconda. Its combat prowess is among the best of all reptiles, and it's a top predator in South America.
Females are usually 5 to 6.5 meters long, males about 5 meters, with the largest recorded at 8.5 meters and typically weighing 225 kilograms.
It lives in the Amazon River basin.
It inhabits wetlands in the Amazon basin and is highly aquatic. It preys on capybaras, other mammals, fish, water birds, and sometimes caimans or freshwater turtles. Green Anacondas are ovoviviparous, with newborns measuring 70–80 centimeters. They experience summer dormancy, related to the wet and dry seasons in South America, burying themselves in mud to reduce water loss. Due to their massive size, they rely on water's buoyancy to support their weight. Their distribution is limited by water sources, so they won't appear far from water. Their skin is tough and slick, protected by scales, and even medium-sized predators like jaguars would struggle to bite through.
Green Anacondas love water and usually live on muddy banks or in shallow waters, hunting water birds, turtles, capybaras, tapirs, and even wild boars. Sometimes, they’ll swallow caimans up to two and a half meters long, wrapping them tightly until they suffocate and then swallowing them whole—after that, they won’t need to eat for weeks.
They prefer living in swamps, shallow streams, and still rivers—masters of aquatic life among giant snakes. Green Anacondas are mostly active at night, but you’ll often see them sunbathing in broad daylight.
The Green Anaconda’s greatest weapon isn’t fangs or venom, but its unmatched strength. Just by coiling its body, it can crush prey to bits. There are records of Green Anacondas killing crocodiles, jaguars, wild boars—formidable beasts in their own right.
After recalling all the facts about Green Anacondas in her mind, Molly Yun broke out in a cold sweat, drops sliding down her forehead.
In other words, injured as she was, she and Hugo weren’t even in the same league as this monster!
Especially since the Green Anaconda before her was even bigger and thicker than the records described.
In other words, this Green Anaconda probably had even more deadly abilities.
Put simply, they were doomed!
If they couldn’t fight it, then they’d have to run!
Molly Yun shouted at Hugo, "Hugo, run!"
As soon as she finished yelling, Molly Yun ignored her leg injury and, grabbing Hugo, dashed off at full speed.
Sure enough, the Green Anaconda chased after them.
But as they ran, Molly Yun realized something was wrong.
