Slaying the Jungle Wolves

1/19/2026

Jade Chu and Tom Chu flew off in different directions. Both of their spiritual senses were far stronger than Evan Chu’s, so even though the third floor of the Tri-Mystic Tower was enormous, finding Jungle Wolves was still easy for them.

Evan Chu tried flying while using Shifting Position, but found it completely impossible. He couldn’t help feeling frustrated at how freakish Jade Chu and Tom Chu’s spiritual sense was—if he really lost to those two little brats this time, it’d be way too embarrassing.

There were plenty of birds and beasts inside the third layer of the Tri-Mystic Tower, many of which Evan had never seen before. Along the way, he ran into quite a few beasts whose strength had already reached above the Divine Martial Realm, but he managed to cleverly avoid all of them.

This was not the time to mess around with those beasts—he had to find the Jungle Wolves and kill them as quickly as possible. Since they were called Jungle Wolves, Evan was confident they’d show up in the forest, and on this point he was sure of himself.

It didn’t take long for the first Jungle Wolf to appear before Evan. This beast stood over two meters tall, its eyes a bloody red. Its most striking feature was its long muzzle, with two fangs longer than a human finger jutting out—if it bit you, you’d definitely be in for a world of pain.

Luna said, "Evan, you can still use Star-Cleave, but it’s just the form—no real power behind it. Check your Chaos Dragon Force; barely any was spent. That sword-qi you saw is just a side effect of the move itself. Without Chaos Dragon Force to sustain it, the sword-qi fades away before it can do any real damage."

“Seriously? This is going to be a hassle!” Evan grumbled. He slowly spread out his spiritual sense and found that there was only one Jungle Wolf in the woods nearby, which was a relief—if there were several, things would get way more complicated.

No wonder the gate to the fourth floor of the tower couldn’t be opened—the Jungle Wolf alone could kill plenty of the cultivators who entered here. No matter how strong you were before, in this place you’d be reduced to a weakling. Evan was sure countless martial artists had died here.

At that moment, the Jungle Wolf spotted Evan and charged at him with incredible speed. He only saw a blur before it was right in front of him. Evan wasn’t about to test those two fangs—he quickly spun aside, shifted several meters to the side, and pulled out the Frostbane Sword from his storage ring.

“Little wolf, you’re still too green to kill your grandpa!” Evan shouted, then raised the Frostbane Sword and unleashed Star-Cleave—a powerful sword-qi attack that shot straight at the Jungle Wolf.

The Jungle Wolf never expected this lowly intruder to fight back. It unleashed a deafening howl that nearly knocked Evan off his feet, and his Star-Cleave attack was thrown off target, slamming into a tree beside the beast instead.

Boom! With a thunderous crash, the tree toppled over, but it didn’t explode into dust like it would have under Evan’s full power.

Evan’s head buzzed, dazed by the force of that wolf’s howl. He’d underestimated this Jungle Wolf for sure, but what really stunned him was seeing the tree he’d struck—he was left speechless.

Star-Cleave was supposed to be his strongest attack, but right now it was weaker than even his old Windchaser Sword Art. Sure, his power was suppressed, but not this badly. At this rate, there was no way he could kill a Jungle Wolf this strong.

"What the hell’s going on? Star-Cleave needs a ton of Chaos Dragon Force to work, and right now I’ve only got maybe twenty percent left. I shouldn’t even be able to use it, and the attack is way too weak. This place is seriously messed up." Evan muttered, frustrated.

"No wonder it turned out like this. Looks like killing a Jungle Wolf is going to be a real pain!" Evan sighed, resigned.

The Jungle Wolf saw its attack miss and realized the boy’s power wasn’t that impressive. Its huge blood-red eyes flashed with greed—Evan was starting to look like a tasty snack.

It howled again—so loud Evan felt like he might cough up blood from the shock—then lunged at him. This time, Evan didn’t dodge. He lowered his Frostbane Sword, waited until the wolf was just two meters away, and swung out a quick slash.

A faint green light flashed from the blade. No sword-qi, no energy waves—just a simple, gentle cut. But this slash was way more effective than Star-Cleave.

The Jungle Wolf froze in place. Its arrogant eyes instantly twisted in agony, and its huge body crashed to the ground, writhing—yet not a single wound appeared on its fur.

Evan grinned, "Heh, Soul Rend works like a charm! Lucky for me, I’m not totally crippled—Soul Rend barely uses any Chaos Dragon Force, so my soul power’s still at full strength. Killing a Saint Martial Realm Jungle Wolf is a piece of cake."

The ringing in Evan’s ears vanished—Luna had already used a secret technique to block out the wolf’s sonic attack during its second howl.

The Jungle Wolf’s soul was shattered, but it wasn’t dead yet—it just needed time. Evan wasn’t about to wait. He swung the Frostbane Sword and unleashed Tempest Shroud, a Windchaser Sword Art move. A tornado of sword-qi burst from the blade, tearing into the helpless beast.

Evan stared in shock—Tempest Shroud hit way harder than Star-Cleave did in this place! The Jungle Wolf was shredded into fragments, and within a few breaths, its remains turned into a ball of fire-light and vanished before his eyes.

"Damn! Tempest Shroud is actually stronger than Star-Cleave here. Looks like I’ll have to stick with Windchaser Sword Art moves. I wonder if Tyrant Cleave will work too—it doesn’t need much realm, so if it’s usable, hunting these wolves will be a breeze." Evan laughed.

Now that he’d figured out how to kill Jungle Wolves, Evan felt a surge of confidence. As for Jade Chu and Tom Chu, he wasn’t worried at all. Those two are absolute tanks—the suppression here doesn’t affect them one bit. Who knows how many wolves they’ve already taken down?
