Prince Ethan was about to say something, but his body suddenly went limp. That damned woman had actually drugged him!
Sophie Qiu looked at him and said, "Prince Ethan, I don't want to leave myself any room for retreat!"
She suddenly wondered, if Quentin Hua asked her to give up everything and leave with him, what would she do?
In the end, she hesitated. The thought itself was laughable—Quentin Hua never loved her, yet here she was, foolishly making such assumptions. She didn't want a man who didn't love her to hold her back, so she forced herself to let go and cut off all those impossible hopes.
"Sophie Qiu!" At this moment, Prince Ethan wished he could kill her, but his whole body was powerless. He could only let her do as she pleased. Suddenly, he felt pitiful—he never imagined he would end up like this. Emperor? Even as emperor, he had not a shred of dignity left!
Sophie Qiu ignored his expression and simply did what she wanted.
After their passion subsided, Sophie Qiu didn’t spare Prince Ethan a glance. She walked alone into the bath to wash, while Prince Ethan lay on the bed, his face full of anger. After the fury faded, he gradually calmed down and began to ponder everything.
He couldn’t understand why Sophie Qiu had let Adrian Yarrow go. Since she was ambitious, she wouldn’t only care about Silvermoon Kingdom. Why let Adrian Yarrow return at such a good opportunity? Wasn’t that just letting the tiger back into the mountain?
And why did she help Damien Gray? From beginning to end, Damien Gray never seemed interested in the throne—was he truly uninterested? Prince Ethan realized he had never understood this man.
Why did the Ghostmaster intervene? Sophie Qiu’s words earlier made it clear that the Ghostmaster was her ally. He meddled in court affairs but didn’t seize the throne—what was he after?
He furrowed his brows, feeling restless inside. He simply couldn’t make sense of it, nor could he see any connection between these things.
At the bottom of the cliff, Adrian Yarrow and Mona Shangguan didn’t return to the cabin until night fell. Seeing the two still embracing ambiguously, Adrian Yarrow frowned, then sat silently to the side, with Mona Shangguan sitting close beside him.
Damien Gray only gazed at the person in his arms, as if he hadn’t noticed the other two at all.
Finally, Adrian Yarrow couldn’t help but ask, "Did the Ghost King come here because he’s no longer fighting for the throne?" He wondered if Damien Gray had failed, but managed to escape!
Damien Gray sneered, "When did I ever say I wanted the throne?" If Adrian Yarrow hadn’t tried to take Mona Shangguan hostage, she wouldn’t have suffered like this. He would remember to settle this score!
He had completely forgotten that Mona Shangguan had willingly allowed herself to be taken as a hostage. No, not forgotten—he simply believed that if Adrian Yarrow hadn’t had such intentions, Mona wouldn’t have volunteered to be captured. So, his princess consort was blameless; if anyone was at fault, it was someone else!
Not fighting for the throne? Adrian Yarrow’s eyes were full of doubt, but Damien Gray didn’t care whether he believed it or not.
Morgan Shangguan’s eyelashes fluttered as she shifted, wanting to stretch her arms, but couldn’t manage it—only then did she remember she was wrapped up in Damien Gray’s clothes.
Damien Gray kissed her eyelids gently and asked in a soft voice, "Feeling better?"
Morgan Shangguan opened her eyes and nodded, "I’m fine now!" She reached out and touched his burning back, laughing, "Your body temperature is way too high, my lord!"
Morgan Shangguan glanced at the sky outside and frowned. She had slept for so long—Damien Gray must have spent a lot of his internal energy!
Only when Damien Gray saw she was fine did he relax. He let his hands wander over her body. Morgan Shangguan shrank back, laughing softly, "What are you doing, my lord?"
Morgan Shangguan was just right, so of course Damien Gray wouldn’t go further—he was only teasing her a little.
Watching the two lost in each other, Adrian Yarrow felt a mix of emotions he couldn’t name. Seeing his complicated expression, Mona Shangguan’s unease grew. She bit her lip, thinking hard for a solution—she absolutely couldn’t let her crown prince brother fall for Morgan Shangguan!
But the couple in each other's arms didn’t care at all what the others thought. Morgan Shangguan kissed Damien Gray’s lips and said with innocent charm, "My lord, I’m hungry!"
At her words, Damien Gray frowned and asked, "Can you eat anything?" Although he knew she was immune to poisons, there was always the risk of encountering a particularly tricky one.
Morgan Shangguan nodded, curious about what he would prepare for her to eat.
Damien Gray suddenly turned to the two extra people and said coldly, "Don’t you know it’s rude to watch?" They were always lacking self-awareness—clearly, he couldn’t let them die too easily!
Seeing Adrian Yarrow and Mona Shangguan turn away, Damien Gray finally let go of Morgan Shangguan. He dressed her first, then dressed himself, and got up to leave.
Soon after, Damien Gray returned carrying a cleaned wild pheasant. Morgan Shangguan raised her eyebrows in surprise—Damien Gray could cook?
Mona Shangguan suddenly spoke up, "Didn’t you say these things were poisonous?" The look she gave Morgan Shangguan clearly accused her of lying to them!
Damien Gray shot her a cold glance and sneered, "You could try eating it yourself!"
Although Adrian Yarrow and Mona Shangguan had taken Morgan Shangguan’s antidote pill, not every poison could be neutralized. The pill’s effects were limited—once used up, only death by poisoning awaited them!
Hearing this, Mona Shangguan dared not say another word, fearing both Damien Gray and the possibility of being poisoned. Adrian Yarrow, however, remained silent.
Damien Gray searched the cabin again and found a sealed wine jar. Opening it, he discovered rice inside—thanks to the good seal, the rice hadn’t spoiled!
After thinking for a moment, Damien Gray went outside and gathered a pile of unknown plants. Then he washed the pot and began to prepare a meal.
Morgan Shangguan watched Damien Gray bustling around, her smile growing deeper. She sat on the bed, resting her head in her hand, watching him move about—the curve of her lips never fading.
"My lord, Princess Consort..."
Ethan Gu and Maxwell Jing rushed in, only to be greeted by the sight of their lord cooking. Maxwell Jing immediately turned to Ethan Gu, pinching his arm. Ethan Gu twitched his mouth and said irritably, "Everything you’re seeing is real!"
